    Black Guys in the NHL
Ok so before I get marked as a racist.................. I like the fact that there are more black guys playing in the NHL then ever. And I support them in every way. But my question is do you think the day will come when we see a hockey player of any color in the paper for things we see football and basketball players pulling? And before I get any dumb ass comments like there are white and hispanic people in both those sports but there are more black guys in those sports. So the question is do we think hockey players will be in the same situations ?

I highly doubt it. Hockey players seem more "grounded".

And to answer your question no hockey will never be as bad as African-American dominated sports because the majority of players in the league are Canadian and Europeon and everyone knows how well behaved and polite we are It's just in AA's culture to do thuggish things unfortunately. Not saying everyone is alike but in general they are the ones usually in the news for this kind of thing. War black people

A lot of it has to do with american culture, achieving in sports in the US seems to give some sort of entitlement to the athletes thats not present in Canada and most hockey countries.

it's more the hip-hop/street culture that permeates the NBA and NFL, not "american culture," as you put it.

This tread is not about that................ I do not have a problem with them in the NHL hell I say more power to them for breaking down another racial wall. The question was will hockey players begin to act like football and basketball players do. and Bruce made a good point in saying hip hop culture. So I did word it wrong and for that I am sorry.

What a bunch of racist and ignorant comments here. And yes of course I am AA and find this to be not only offensive but inaccurate. Yes we have the Pac Man Jones and Plaxico Burress of the world and they are indeed idiots....but there are many other AA athletes that have respect for the game and cause no trouble whatsoever. But of course we will be judged by the selceted few that end up in the news.

I am not judging anybody I have all the respect in the world for these guys they are true pioneers but the fact is of the matter is the hip hop culture is alive and strong just like the rock and roll culture was in the 50's. To be offended I can understand that and I thank you for your opinion and welcome all of them. But just because you choose to ignore the fact 1. African Americans outnumber most other colors except for maybe hispanics/Latins 2. This world would rather pay attention to the evil things people do instead of the good. I am not saying that just cause black guys are in the NHL they will act a fool but will the media be alittle more harsh on them then usual. Look at Tiger, Guy broke down walls screwed up cheated and the media acts like he is freaking satan. I am in full understanding that alot of the guys that play in the PGA are white for example and cheat on their wives but where is the media to talk shit about them? I am saying unfortunately people like to make black guys out to be the bad guys when really they are just humans. This is not a retraction of my opinion just some light I am trying to shed on it. And to the 2 African Americans that gave their opinion thank you for that but I am proud to be a Canadian and if you want to attack me on a personal level that is your choice but I am glad you are my country men and hope this dose not ruin your day/night. Oh and Cecil Kiss my A$$ LOL did you post your parleys for today?

                                                  true story:
fishing the lehigh river a few years ago i accidently "cornered" a black bear with 2 cubs. i was walking the old rr bed now turned into a bike/hiking path that runs parallel to the river. decided on a nice place to "drop in" off the path and get to the river. steep as chit i basically skied down ol coal slag and cinders about 60 ft. the piece of ground i was heading to was about 40' wide between rr bed and river. once i got to the bottom(quickly) i saw what looked like a (rather large)shadow come from behind a huge rock then go back behind the rock. i stood there for a second and started to hear scratching noises. what it turned out to be was 2 black bear cubs about 12 ft up a tree on the other side of the large rock. looking up to see the cubs and hearing some increased rustling brush on the other side of the rock i ran back up the luge path of cinders and slag maybe even faster than i slid down it-waders, fishing pole and all.(mathewXB: insert "lol" here)
thats the day i decided that the .22 that tagged along on so many trips to the river needed to be replaced with a .45. not like id have time to draw down on a black bear in full charge mode or anything but coming that close to a black bear i now realize a .22 would be like a bee sting to them. since then ive seen 2-3 more all at a nice comfortable distance-just the way i like em

what % of NHL are stinking rich? how many come into the league at 18 or 19 years old and are instant millionaires? the majority of hockey players start from the bottom and fight to the top and as gay and cliched as it might sound, i truly think the majority of NHL guys play for the love of the game.

youth and a ton of money are a bad combination, unless that individual had some real good parenting. helps if one lives with the owner of the team as well.

also, i think hockey requires talent and heart and motivation and determination. you could have the best hockey skills in the world but if you aren't willing to get hit or get dirty (not cheap shots, just battles) you will not be in the league long.

The NHL has such a different culture when compared to the black-dominated sports. One thing that makes me proud to be a hockey fan is how NHL player carry themselves on the ice and off. For example, hockey is the only sport that they fight in, despite this violence they are humble off ice. It seems in the NFL players talk shit and make threats at press conferences, but on the field they are helping each other off the ground etc...
