Might not have to. He will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2025-26 season if he doesn't sign an extension. He can sign an extension with Edmonton as early as July 1 so we might get a better idea around then. A lot of Toronto fans would love him to come home.

He’s not going anywhere. They need a couple
stronger defensemen and possibly an upgrade at goalie. It was always going to come down to this… the most offensively skilled players/teams can't simply just outscore teams if they can’t get key stops. They are very undisciplined for long spurts of games.

I'm guessing Gretz is already in his head about getting outta dodge. He'll get a few hundred million in the states.

You'd think after 10 years or so they would have gotten one or two players on the defensive end. Instead of a few cast-off from other teams.

I am hearing Marner is expected to sign for 15 million per season and maybe with the Ducks. So McDavid will be asking for more obviously and I don't know if teh Oilers could afford him.

These contracts are ruining hockey. It is what it is I guess.

The owners are stupid for paying them out. They rarely work in the long run. As we've seen so often in Baseball and Hockey. It's like they are willing to pay out so much for the possibility of winning ''one'' championship and the other 6 years of mediocrity.

Yeah, exactly. Offense is great, but without solid defense and consistent goaltending, it’s tough to go far. They’ve got to clean that up.
