Stars vs Jets Game 1 player prop picks from SBR's Gary Pearson:

    Mikko Rantanen Over 2.5 shots (+110 bet365)

"Rantanen enjoyed his best three games as a Star at the end of the first round, fittingly against his former team. I'm sure most members of the Colorado Avalanche were thinking what could have been had they not shipped Rantanen to Carolina earlier in the season.

I'm hoping Rantanen doesn't endure a comedown of emotions after exploding for 11 points in Games 5, 6, and 7 against the Avs.

You won't get enough value in backing Rantanen's point prop unless you trigger a multi-point pick. However, Rantanen had at least three shots in five of seven games thus far. There's also a decent-to-good chance either Josh Morrissey or Logan Stanley, possibly both, won't feature in Game 1.

If they can't go, Rantanen should be able to exploit the mismatch to keep Connor Hellebuyck busy."

Kyle Connor Over 3.5 shots (+120 via bet365)

"Connor might be forced to play without Mark Scheifele for a third straight game. While that's a worrying big-picture scenario, I don't think it will impact his shot production in Game 1. In fact, it might facilitate an even higher shot total. He'll burden more of the offensive load, looking to let loose on Jake Oettinger.

Connor hit this Over twice in seven games in the first round, which doesn't inject much confidence. However, he had seven shots at home in Game 7 against the St. Louis Blues and fired at least four on goal in four straight meetings with the Stars.

I expect him to be at his best after a heroic Game 7 performance."

Roope Hintz Over 2.5 shots (+150 via DraftKings)

"The +150 odds DraftKings offers are as appealing as a Guinness on St. Patrick's Day. Hintz had at least three shots in five of seven postseason games thus far, hitting the Over in two of three road games against Colorado. I'm also drawn to Hintz's previous success vs. the Jets, against whom he had three or more shots in five of the previous seven meetings.

I'll take that ratio and those odds against a team that might not have two of its best defensemen."

Stars vs Jets Game 2 prediction from SBR's Gary Pearson:

        Jets Moneyline (-115 BetMGM)

"The Stars finally shook the monkey off their back, winning for the first time during a Game 1 across their last nine attempts. Peter DeBoer's team embraced the opportunity to break the ghastly streak on the road.

It worked well for the Stars, who secured victory thanks to an eight-minute hat trick from Mikko Rantanen, his second straight three-goal outing. The loss also represented the Jets' first defeat in five home playoff games.

Aside from those eight minutes, the Jets played a pretty good game, the type of home contest you'd expect from the Presidents' Trophy winners.

They scored first and received solid, if not elite, goaltending from Connor Hellebuyck. Mark Scheifele returned and was excellent while scoring and firing seven shots on goal. And with another day of rest, Josh Morrissey and Logan Stanley get a good chance of returning.

I expect the Jets to repeat their Game 1 performance while eradicating that forgettable eight-minute span. That should be enough to even the series going back to Big D."

Jets vs Stars Game 4 player prop picks from SBR's Gary Pearson:

Mikko Rantanen Over 2.5 shots (-118 BetMGM)

"Rantanen is scoring at such a prolific rate that you'd think he is playing in the preseason against AHL players. He has 17 points in the previous seven games, posting at least three points five times. While I'm drawn to his multi-point prop, which you can nab at +160 odds, I've decided to go with his shots prop.

Before his recent two-game Under slip, Rantanen had three or more shots in six of the first eight playoff games."

Nino Niederreiter Over 1.5 shots (-135 DraftKings)

"Like Rantanen, there are a couple of appealing props as far as Niederreiter is concerned. That's about all he has in common with Rantanen, though. Niederreiter has at least one point in three straight and five of the last six games. He's also hit the Over on his shot prop in five of the last seven, including three of the previous four.

The Jets are desperate for a role player to step up, and Niederreiter fits the bill. He is one of the more unheralded Jets contributors, and I'm backing him to have another productive outing."

Stars vs Jets Game 5 player prop picks from SBR's Gary Pearson:

              Mikael Granlund Over 0.5 points (+145 bet365)

"Another Finn, same offensive explosion. Granlund scored his first hat trick in eight years in Game 4 and has five points in the last two games. I'm keen as mustard to ride the hot hand while receiving the +145 odds bet365 offers."

Josh Morrissey Over 0.5 assists (+135 DraftKings)

"Despite what is happening around him, Morrissey rarely has an off night. With the Jets fighting for their playoff lives, I'm backing Winnipeg's all-star defenseman to lead by example. His +135 odds offer the best value, especially with an assist in three straight and four of the previous five."
