NJ vs NY and Det v. NYI discussion
what do you guys think of the Devils tonight? they are playing well despite the loss to TB. I think they should be able to beat the Rangers tonight. Rags have been inconsistent lately. losing to Atlanta and Carolina while beating Dallas and Boston twice. I think the Devils are a much better team overall.

I also like Detroit. they have been playing great hockey lately. my only concern is that they lost Holmstrom. he is a big part of their offense. scoring goals and screening the goalies. Islanders have been pretty good lately as well. Detroit is starting to get hot for the playoff push and should win tonight.

    any thoughts?

"The Devils beat the Rangers 4-2 in an earlier meeting this season at MSG. One factor that really lowers the Rangers’ projected score in this game is their recent play at home after multiple days of rest. The Rangers don’t seem to be as sharp at home when they are an over-rested team, but their defense has been great and should be able to keep the game close. New Jersey is the better team here though, and should expect to win.

Best Bet: New Jersey as a pick’em seems to be the way to play this one. The Rangers have a reasonable shot at winning, but New Jersey is probably the better choice at this price."

"The Red Wings have very consistently played to a total of 5 combined goals per game as of late, producing an abundance of 4-1 and 3-2 scores. A lot of people may like to count the Islanders out of every game that they play in, but the Islanders have actually been on a pretty solid run themselves, going 5-2-1 in a string of 8 consecutive one-goal games. The projected numbers here make a lot of sense when considering these trends.

Best Bet: If the Red Wings are in the range of being a 55% favourite to win, then -150 is actually a little too much juice to be laying here (1.67 x 55% = 8% loss). There is actually a little bit of value in taking the Islanders as an underdog, but perhaps the Under 5.5 is the best way to play this one. The projected total is 4.81 combined goals."

I am taking the Wings in 3 periods at +105. i think they will win by something like 1-2 goals in regulation. Islanders have been ok but wont keep it up against a surging Wings club that is making a push for a playoff spot. definately will be under as well.

Lets see how the rangers will play tonight. I dont think it will be that close. If the good rangers show up, they will win by 2-3. if not they will lose by 2-3. i know how the devils will play. Rags have won some games lately but mostly against bad teams, i dont think they will be good tonight especially after a long rest

Cant ignore the value we're getting with NJ. Devils have been very reliable all year.

It's close - take the home team. Rangers!

I'd also take the under - it's coin flip, but the line is better for under.

I'm taking both New York teams and I am actually fairly confident. Who cares that the Devils have a good record? They lost to TB and had to go into overtime with Montreal. Since they ended up winning, they probably won't hit the panic button and they'll continue their slump. They beat NYR in their last meeting and they are comfortably ahead in the division. There is no need for the Devils to care about this game.

Detroit is still seen by teams like the Islanders as Western Conference champs, despite the fact that they are 9th in the conference. The Islanders are seen by Detroit as puny nothings in the East. The Islanders are better and the Wings have declined. Detroit just beat SJ and LA on the road, so they'll take the Islanders for granted.

YOU STILL HAVE 10 MINUTES QUICK BET THE NEW YORK TEAMS!

No excuse for the pathetic effort by Detroit. You can call its season D-O-N-E.

that truly was a pathetic effort. i guess they missed Holmstrom more then i would have expected. I dont think they are done though. this game should get them fired up. nobody likes to get embarassed like that

Detroit has Carolina (fewest points in the NHL) at home on Thursday, I believe. That's a game that could get out of hand if the Red Wings show no mercy; I'll take the over.
