Personally I don't think it'll make a difference in the W/L column. Obviously it was the right move though.

Ovechkin was the de facto captain for the last two years. i am surprised they didnt make him captain a long time ago when Crosby was named captain. there is a trend naming young star players captain. i think it was a good move but it should really make a difference in terms of winning and losing.

i am not too sure about washington this year. they started out really good but hit kind of a slump lately. I think this year the West is likely to win the cup. If Chicago continues the way they have been playing, there is your next Stanley Cup champ. Healthy Detroit would be dangerous too, especially considering how Howard is playing. he is looking like the Dominator back there.

I agree mostly with you except for Detroit they are having a very hard time getting healthy and then when the players return they need to get back into the swing of things and by the end of it, it might be to late for them to recover! But Chicago is for sure a contender in the play offs they have a really good chance along with New Jersey, Pit, Buffalo, and Nashville. Just my thoughts.

yeah i think both Detroit and Pit are showing the stains of going to 7 games in the final. D was having problems all year. Pit are much younger but i think now you are starting to see that they are worn out after last year. I dont think they will contend. they will both be in the playoffs but wont make it past 2nd round.

as of now i think a good possiblity of the final is Chicago/NJ. I think Buffalo is not good enough on the road to get far in the playoffs. Nashville i am not really sure about, they are a bit unstable and who knows how Erat is gonna be after the knee injury

You make some very good points, and some of them I am in agreeance with. But as we all know the playoffs bring the beast out in those guys and with the olympics in between things still have time to change drasticly. But like I said you make some very good points.
