    can anyone tell me how the total line is set for hockey games?

      Take SJ vs ATL today for example. The over/under is 6 and the juice is generally +105/-125, having opened at +/- 6,
      +110/-120. How are these opening line numbers determined by the oddsmaker?

        You might want to ask jay edgar or ganchrow on the basketball forum
        I never see them post hockey but they would have a proper explanation for you.

          I am sure the lines are based on average goals allowed by each side, but don't know if they consider if the "first string" or "backup" goalie is starting, as that is often unknown till game time, particularly on back-to-back nights.
