Capitals & Thrashers Over 6½

All signs point to a shootout in tonight's Capitals-Thrashers contest at the Philips Arena in Atlanta.
This is strictly a numbers play that on paper makes a lot of sense.
The Washington Capitals have played seven straight overs that totaled 59 goals for an 8.42 per game average. The Caps are 19-11 overall, 10-3 over after allowing 4+ goals, and 10-4 over after scoring 4+ goals.
Before Wednesday's 2-1 loss to Anaheim, Atlanta (18-9-5) had played three straight overs with a 7.33 total in that trio of contests. The Thrashers are 12-5 over vs. losing records, and 9-5 over off 3+ losses.
These teams have already met four times this year with 7, 7, 7, and 6 goals being scored. Nine of the last 12 in the series have gone over, including four of five on this ice. Despite a hefty 6½ goal total, we'll still play over the total in what figures to be a shootout.
