Going for the big name, and not the best person for the job. Same as all the Leafs moves that got them in this situation, style over substance.

Cliff is doing well blowing it up, got rid of MaCabe, Belak, Tucker, Colaiacovo, Steen and other. If he can somehow deal Blake and Kubina (not easy) they'll be in good shape for a rebuild. If they decide to trade Toskola and Kaberle (which they should) they can land some top level picks and prospects for those.

burke is definitely a waste of money and overated, but Toronto has plenty of money to throw away anyways so it doesn't really matter.
At least Burke's got the experience of winning a cup

Geez, any surprise here? Burke couldn't wait to get out of Anaheim. This was obvious from the get go.

If anything Burke will likely seek to add some toughness to this Leafs team, too often they get pushed around by bigger stronger teams.

I'm all for giving the guy a chance, there are no guarantees no matter who the Leafs hire, one thing for sure is that NO ONE could be worse than Ferguson.
