In what has been a long and grinding road to the finals for both players, the 64 man savants Netprofit and tomcast square off in what is sure to be an SBRpicks.com barn-burner.
Nobody figured that Netprofit would advance past Santo in the Elite 8, one of the most monumental upsets in SBRforum history; and as such it seems clear that tomcast is an overwhelming favorite to win comfortably.
tomcast is already 1-0 +1.00, while Netprofit has fallen into an early hole with an unconscionably bad pick on the under in the Yankees/Angels game Tuesday night. The Yankees covered the over 8.5 all by themselves. Netprofit has went back to the proverbial drawing board, and has yet to make another selection at this time; it is not uncommon for over-matched opponents to adopt a wait and see approach and hope that their opponents make a mistake first. Although this strategy involves a certain admission of inferiority, it has helped opponents collect themselves and formulate a good game-plan based on the luck of the draw.
tomcast has hit 43-25-2 for 63.24% winners in the tournament, which is 3rd best overall. The skillful handicapper has the tournament wrapped up if he can stay the course and stick to his aggressive game-plan.
We attempted to reach Santo to interview him on what he feels Netprofit has to do to consummate his fortuitous run here, but Santo was too busy making sharp posts regarding the state of the Industry in SBR's industry subforum.
Good luck to both players! Follow the Handicapping contest action here.
