Interesting way to describe a bookie too.
In an ideal world of balanced action, he gets a +110/+110 scalp......

For those that truly want balanced action yes. The Big 3 (Pinny, CRIS, Greek) have a higher risk-tolerance, but that is another subject for another thread.

Sports betting is simply too noisy for a unidirectional risk position to yield guaranteed profit (alhough a "fixed" game would closest).
The only truly "guaranteed" angles are those that are determined, at least in part, prior to the game. These are essentially limited to scalps (of all forms, this would also encompass so-called "synthetic" scalps that might include technically different bets with sufficiently similar risk characteristics) and certain creatively hedged middles.
The only absolutely guaranteed path to gambling profit over a finite horizon is to buy low, sell high, and do both simultaneously.

Guaranteed angles last as long as the book doesn't get wind of them. Mine the gold before everyone else does.

There are no guarenteed angles other than true arbitrage. The reason for this is threefold. One, that's simply the definition of a guarentee, you might have the best of it but you could always lose. Two, there is no reason to assume that what has happened in the past was representitive, there simply haven't been enough games played (even in MLB) to know for sure. Third, sports change and not just obvious change like the new NHL rules.

thats the key isnt it, how do you know which lines will move?
bottom line youll turn a profit if the price you get beats the closing lines.
something like that
but would love to hear if anybody has the guaranteed formula.

There are a few "angles" I utilize that have good winning percentages. But just because it has shown a 17 and 2 streak doesn't mean it can't fall to 17 and 6 before hitting. If you arb and get both sides up before a line move then you have a "guaranteed winner. But even with arbing you may get $500 up on one side and the line moves on the other taking away your arb. It is impossible to bet both at the same time.

You can't lose what you don't bet, you can't win what you don't put in!
