Starting a tip service

In your opinion, in regards to starting a website tip service:

- What ROI would you want to see?

- What other statistics would be important to emphasize?

- How many tips should you release - is it possible to provide too many?

- How much should you charge?

- What would be the best way to promote your site?

smart bettors are impressed by stuff like a 55% win rate or a 3%-5% roi. but smart players know not to buy picks from random touts. idiots buy picks and they want locks. so focus on manipulating your record to produce a high win/loss record.

1) take big favs and only report win/loss percentage.
2) martingale your wagers and only report if the martingale series won/lost
3) divide plays into subsets and shift focus onto subsets that have done well in the last ~10 plays.

there are lots more. this probably doesn't belong in the htt except as a way to expose the silliness of most touts.

I kill a 5% roi but often have trouble placing bets due to being banned or limited at rec books that offer lines on obscure soccer leagues - which is what I bet on. I'm throwing around the idea of a pick site as a way to get something out of these games that I cant bet much on.

I think your probably right however in that a genuinely impressive record would be lost on the people that would be interested in buying tips. Might as well make up a record better suited to them.

Logistics of a tipping service would drive you nuts.

Might be worth looking at something like betadvisor, which handles all the payments/admin for you. Line.com is also promising, don't do as much advertising, but don't take a cut either.

You can pull this scheme off :
-organize yourself emails of lets say 2^10=1024 sportsbettors
-market your service as first 5 free picks guaranteed locks !!!!
-first play send half of the guys outcome 1 , other half outcome 2
-do this for 5 games
-you now have 32 guys who you have sent 5 straight winning picks
-charge them big money for monthly service
-some of them will bite
-you roll in cash
-EZ game
