    Market makers on Matchbook
I'm fairly new to exchange betting, Matchbook, etc. Does anyone have any insight they can offer on the Market maker feature. If I understand it correctly you can profit from equal action when you offer a line. Curious to see if anyone has figured out how to do this successfully on a frequent basis. Or trade both sides of a game.

Haven't heard anyone bring this topic up before, maybe I missed it. Love to hear some ideas.

You have to have a math degree to do it.

I assume people are using automated processes to do this. The numbers move to quickly off of pinnacle otherwise.

Ganch was looking for some info on this in this thread if anyone has any.

        Deconstructing Matchbook

One of my biggest regrets is giving up learning programing skills when i was younger.

from my understanding, MB only give you the market maker tool to do autostaking, but if there is a line movement, it won't adjust automatically.

now i get it why ganch is looking into AJAX. i think he is trying to use the line service to change the baseline odds for the autostaking. should be interesting if he succeed. however, the spread for most events are only 2 cents. unless you autostake less popular events.

Thanks for the feedback guys. So it looks no one is really using the feature. I'm still trying to figure what base amount is and how it ties in. Also if you make a line say Bos +4 +106......does it create a +106 on the other side -4.

The market marker feature, isn't it essentially like bookmaking.....just through Matchbook? Running your own book so to speak..........?

Hopefully others will chime in here.......

Of course it is. Any distinction between bookmaking and betting is arbitrary.

It makes -106 on the other side

                  Thats what I thought.

I'm a little surprised no one from SBR is making markets on Matchbook. Someones making markets on there. If we have any experts at it on here, stop in and tell us a story or two.

I use it regularly. After I handicap games, I determine the max amount of points/odds I'm willing to lay (if I like the favorite) or the min I'm willing to take if I like the dog. (On b-ball and football, Matchbook often offers several line options at different odds.)

If the current odds are not within my desired range, I make a market at the acceptable odds. Usually, if the current odds are anywhere close, I get a match by gametime.
