NBA - how predict total line movements ?
    Hello,

I'm looking for some tools to predict the probable line movement on total game.

I think one good indication is to see the early moves on Pinnacle or other sharp book and expect it will continue in the same direction.

Can the specialists of line moves confirm that ? Which other tools do you use to predict where the line will go ?

Is there any team that the public will systematically go over or under and pushes the line ?

Which other factor can influence the line ?

i.e today Dallas vs Cleveland opened @ 203.5 and is now @ 206.5 (went from 204 to 206 in a few minutes ), and the public is only slightly on the over. What is the explanation of this huge change and would have been possible to predict it

    Thanks for your help

If there was a simply way to consistantly predict line movement, then the predicted line movement would already be priced in and it wouldn't move. In reality, each game is different and there is no forumula that will predict whether a particular game will move or not. Lines move for a variety of reasons - some that improve the line and others that are (essentially) random.

you certainly cant predict line movement on most games
but you can guess more than 50% on some, when both teams have scored much in last 2-3 games, or havent been scoring a lot
line will proly move in that direction, but its hard to tell by how much

Maybe anyone have a program (soft) witch calculates the statistics for handicaps or totals?
        Thank you.

If you could predict line movements consistently you will win consistently

I do not think the NBA total market is efficient

By consistently, do you mean 80 percent or what?

I had a program about 3 years ago, ant it was quite accurate, but when my computer broke, I can't remember where I got it.
