    Another Home Court Advantage Question
I've noticed over the season (this is my first year modeling)
that is seems not all NBA games have homecourt advantage in the line
so when I am comparing my lines to the book lines I usually can tell if they think there is a home advantage

can anyone help me determine how I would know myself if I should apply home court advantage or not?

There is always HCA in the line, and it should always be in your handicapping. I

But it's presence may be obscured by other factors.

So, if a team would be -2 on a neutral court, and -5 at home, and you see it -2, assume, not that the linemaker "forgot" HCA, but that he included something else. Maybe the home team has a star player injured, and the line values that player at 3 points, something like that.

But the HCA is always in the line.

As usual PJ is correct but its also a popular opinion that its more to do with the road teams number. In essence a good teams home and road form has less variance compared to a bad team.
