Wagering at odds you'd stand to win $200 per $1,000 risked.
Were you to win 80% of these such bets then you'd on average accumulate 80%/20%*$200 = $800 for every $1,000 lost.Comment -

#41Since it hasn't been mentioned yet I thought I would chime in with the sport that has been kindest to me....
Mixed Martial Arts
With the growth of the sport over the past few years the number of big events taking place has increased dramatically and with so many new uneducated fans combined with the solid job that the UFC does in hyping up fighters there is a lot of great value bets to be found on a regular basis.Comment -

#45I would think it would be MLB but for some reason I seem to do well on NBA games. Ive done very well with home team favorites and I rode the Celtics train from the get go this year until it cooled off.
MLB has a lot of info available though. I like going with an MLB team the night after a tough loss (Captain Obvious).Comment -

#46No one else will come up with this one!
Horse Racing at the Humbolt county fair in Northern California. They run for 9 racing days in mid August. This a half mile race track and a trip handicapper's paradise. Betting pools are very small. Lots of overlays. I love it!
I've shown profits seven out of the eight racing seasons.Comment -

#48My answer to this question changes like the weather. Even though I lost last season I still think NFL is the easiest, lifetime I'm well ahead and been betting it since I was a pre teen.
Guess I'd have to make it a three way tie between
NFL-College FB-College BB. Really excited about ML parlays in CBB.Comment -

For me, I find college football scoring more consistent for my style of hedge wagering.

#59I have had luck with NFL and College football. Years of following teams , can't but help the betting improve.
Haven't watched many other sports, except maybe the Olympics. It would be like blindly betting other sports, for me.Comment -

#60Prop bets, small sports and small soccer leagues are the best. From US Major sports Basketball is by far the easiest for me, especially NBA and NCAAB totals. MLB is decent too, but football, especially NFL, is something I haven't invested much time or thought. NFL has Low amount of games and efficient markets. College football is more beatable.Comment -

#61The most logical answer, and it certainly rings true for me, are the sports/events that have the most inefficient markets.
For me this means Handball, Volleyball, European Ice Hockey and a few others. To extract the best value though you do need accounts at the all books which offer these markets, most of which will not accept Americans.Comment -

#62The "easiest" bet is European Soccer favorites.
I do them frequently daytime.
Basically, general rule only take -375 or higher when the Draw line is over +280.
Lots of games where there's virtually no chance at all the dog can win.
That aside, NBA.. home teams when they are due and rested

#68It changes from year to year. The difference between a 54% and, for instance, a 59% season is often not within a person's control. Luck is subject to fluctuations. Many football games have a decisive bounce of the ball. It's really not so strange for five of those bounces to go in your favor one year and against you the next, but it makes a difference of 10 units. Therefore, in my opinion, it is important to know what your bottom level is in each sport. A 53% season in a 'poor luck' year may be much more impressive than a 60% season with the wind in your back. You can measure your luck, for a season, by nonchalantly entering picks (the more, the better) in a free contest, and see how close to 50% those picks are. It they hit at 40% your luck is low and you will have to work harder for success.
Also, more experienced players have to stay flexible enough to recognize that old systems may have gone out of date.
Typically, NHL is the easiest for me, because I spend the least amount of time on it, so the profits are worth more when measured against time invested. But my initial feel for the season in progress is to lay low. In reality, on a scale from 1 to 5, with 5 being highest, I'm only at level 2 for NHL. I'm at a higher level than that in NBA, MLB, and NFL, and at a lower level for horses, so there's plenty of room for improvement. As long as that process is dynamic I'm enjoying it.Last edited by Dark Horse; 11-18-09, 12:51 AM.Comment -
