    Hedge Baylor Future?
I have a $100 futures bet on Baylor to win South Region at 6 to 1.
I can get Duke at -200 to hedge the bet. Recommend it (for what amount) or better off to let it ride?

Went ahead and covered my original bet 200 to win 100 on Duke and gave myself 4 to 1 on Baylor ML. Not sure whether smart or not, but seemed reasonable.

I can't advise you whether too hedge or not. I personally hedge, but that is up to you.

There are many amounts you can hedge I will give you three:

466.67 @ -200 gives you a guaranteed profit of $133.33 regardless of which team wins.
400 @ -200 gives you $200 if Baylor wins (current value) or $100 if Duke wins or
200 @ -200 gives you $400 if Baylor wins and breakeven if Duke wins.

      Joe.

Depends what your outlook is on the game but with Duke being favored by 5 I would consider hedging, at least maybe lay $200 on Duke.

But it all depends on your outlook on the game though as a handicapper it is usually better to take a profit where you can and not be greedy.

As good a choice as any. Good luck.

Thanks guys. Should have posed the question earlier. But feel like I probably made the safest play.

You can hedge if you have Matchbook or other bookie where you get almost a perfect price. If you layed extra juice then hedging is horrible, but I guess this goes for all bets.
