Was the Cavs - Nets the highest moneyline in pro leagues history?
Yesterday game between Cleveland and New Jersey reached very high moneylines, I can not remember something like that. Nets has one of the worst records in the last decade, and Cavs is currently the best team in the league, and playing at home. The line closed at:

    Pinny: +2800/-4200
    Matchbook: +3400/-4000
    Greek: +2800/-4400
    5dimes: +3000/-5000

Has there been any moneyline so high in the history of the major american leagues? I think baseball and hockey are out, their lines seldom reach +250. NFL has higher lines, but I think NBA has the best chances to have a huge line.

So, anyone can find a game with a higher moneyline in history?

Thanks very much. The game you linked has a slightly higher line, and it was only 2 years ago. So, I suppose there has been even higher ones. Thanks again.

No, NFL Home MLs are not as high as NBA Home MLs with large spreads. Pats were "only" around -3000.

The -10000 line was at Bet365. They always has a huge vig, so do not give that number much weight. Better use the -6000 of 5Dimes and The Greek. Still a huge number.

I just did a search on the biggest NBA point spreads in recent years in WinPicks and then pulled up the MLs at SBR.

Pats/Dolphins actually wasn't the highest spread that year, the highest spread was Pats/Eagles. The Pats had covered 9 out of 10 thus far and their only miss was barely failing to cover @ the Colts, I think the line closed -4.5 or -5 and they won by 4. Eagles line closed around -24 and I actually ended up with an absurd middle of Pats -2500 and Eagles +27.

                                            CookieMonster,
The lines will get even more lopsided as the regular season draws to a close.

The reason for this is there will be many teams eliminated from the playoffs facing playoff teams fighting for higher seeds.

The strange thing is that the point spreads don't move very much but the money lines do.

You'll see 15 point favorites with moneylines of -8000/+6000 at the end of the regular season. Earlier in the season, the same 15 point favorite will have a moneyline of -1800/+1500.

On many occassions, I was able to get 60-1 or higher on NBA games in the last 2 weeks of the NBA season and I think money line records will be broken when the New Jersey Nets find themselves in this particular situation this year.

I know soccer is way different. First, they have 3 outcomes, so the odds get higher. And usualy the leagues are not so balanced as the american sporst, with a few teams sucking hard and a handful of teams above all the rest. Even worse, in World Cup qualifiers there are teams badly outclassed. In Oceania I remember American Samoa getting massacred in all its games (4-0, 15-0, 7-0 and 12-1). In Europe, San Marino and Andorra get killed badly. In other confederations there are also many bad teams, but they get eliminated in a single series before starting the group stage. So, the moneylines on that teams should be atrocious, if ever posted.

                                                  Andywend:

Thanks for the info. I did not know that the moneylines get so distorted in the last weeks. Is there an study to check the profitability of a middle?

                                                  Skrtelfan:

Good middle. The only problem is that the Carib sportsbook did not like you betting in both sides of a game, and graded the moneyline as a loss assuming line manipulation. LOL.
