Help me Create MLB Batter Groupings and How to calculate them
Alright, so my goal is to try to group batters together in to user created categories but calculated through algorithms using actual pitch by pitch, at bat, career data.

    For example...

    1) Power Hitter (>200 at bats , between .06-.10 hr , avg > .200)
    2) Finesse Hitter (>200 at bats , avg > .300 , OBP > .400 , HR < .06)
    3) Poor Hitter (>200 at bats , avg < .200 , OBP < .200 , HR < .03)
    4) New Hitter (<200 at bats)

Those are just 4 absolutely random examples, I'm trying to get some ideas on what would be some useful classifications. So if you went down a lineup for a game, you can simply say batter 1 is "this classification". Then you can query the opposing pitcher and see how he does against those type of hitters. Basically since a lot of the times there is a pretty small sample size of actual batters against pitchers, it would be nice to get an idea of how a pitcher has performed against similar type of hitters and not just left vs right.

This is just a think tank question, I haven't gotten in to much detail and just want to hear some ideas. Thanks in advance.
