Everytime I try, they say "no, we have to convert it to Canadian first".

I just had a sportsbook tell me that they send US all the time, and his customers can cash it US.

    Is moneygram BS'ing me?

They always sent me Cdn $$, at a crappy conversion rate.

Moneygram and Western Union have always converted incoming US$ transfers to Cdn. in my experience. It is costly and annoying.

Likewise, if I walk in there with some US cash to send somewhere that accepts US transfers, **/** will convert my money to Canadian then back to US.

I questioned all this (quite awhile back). The explanation I got was it was a matter of legality. Don't know if that's true or not. But whatever the reason, I have come to accept it.

I suspect the sportsbook rep that told you they have Canadian customers that can cash in US$ was just talking out their ass.
