How Accurate is the 1/2 Point Calculator
I've been using the half-point calculator to determine how my plays are doing vs. the closing line. I'm a little concerned because I've read some threads saying that it hasn't been updated for a while and it was already innacurate on some numbers because of a lack of data. Also, I've read that rule changes can make the data less accurate as well.

So does anyone know how accurate it is? Is it still worth using to determine things like closing line value or line-shopping when lines differ across sites?

Is there something else out there that is better for this?

    Thanks.

Thanks do you mean the dropdown on a line where you can choose different lines? If so, do you know if that contains any extra juice or is it the exact equivalent of the posted line?

On moves when the theoretical holds are the same after moving the line the 1/2 point, they are equivalent.

                raiders72001 - "equivalent".

It's bad enough having this idiot troll the "Sportsbook" forums. Now he's trolling the Think Tank.

It's just a waste of time contributing and then having to deal with the idiot's false statements.

Justin7 - "If you post something that I deem deliberately misleading to sabotage a new thread or idea, you maybe banned for trolling."

EDIT - I just found the "Ignore" control. Problem solved for me.
Problem not solved for the Think Tank.

I just corrected your mistake. If the theoretical hold doesn't change, then I'll go with Pinny's 1/2 point move as being accurate.

I appreciate you contributing. I've been a part-time sports bettor for about four years now and one thing that's been consistently frustrating to me is the lack of information out there and lack of willingness of people to help others learn. We need more people like you.

scooter- I'm not sure why you keep making the personal attacks but I'm willing to bet on what I said as being the truth.

they charge more juice on the buy than the sell so the value is not equivalent

you also have to look at the worth. There's a difference off and on numbers.

Come on, everyone who ever used Pinny knows that they might do something silly like giving you 2 cents for selling half a point, and making you pay 7c on buying the same meaningless point (in football).
I even saw 0c for selling a dead number sometimes, that's funny.

true, which is why you can't say "extra juice". There may be added value to buying or selling. Really just talking semantics but Pinny is a good guide.
