NFL Player News - Week 5

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

CHI - QB Mitchell Trubisky should avoid surgery

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating a previous report, Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) is reportedly dealing with a dislocated left shoulder - with a slight labrum tear - but will not require surgery and should be able to return to action 'sooner than later' based on initial MRI results, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bears have some time with Trubisky on the shelf but it may not be as long as originally feared. He will reportedly travel with the team to London in Week 5 but not play versus the Oakland Raiders, and there is optimism he will play following the team's Week 6 bye.

CAR - Kyle Allen to draw another start

Source: The Athletic - Joe Person

Carolina Panthers QB Kyle Allen is expected to start Week 5 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There's no timetable for the return of Cam Newton and some worry that he won't play again this season. We'll watch Newton's situation as the season rolls on, but Allen should be the presumed starter going forward.

NYJ - QB Sam Darnold's status for Week 5 in limbo

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (illness) has been cleared for non-contact work and can begin throwing but has yet to receive clearance on returning to full practice, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini, who believes Darnold's status for Week 5 is 'up in the air.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Darnold wants to come back ASAP but the team needs to be careful with him. We'll see if he can do more as the week of practice rolls on. Luke Falk would start against the Eagles in Week 5 if Darnold can't go.

DET - TE T.J. Hockenson in protocol

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson (concussion) is going through the concussion protocol after leaving the team's Week 4 game. Head coach Matt Patricia said the team is not concerned about Hockenson's shoulder.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The shoulder injury is not the concern, but seeing Hockenson land on his head after trying to leap two Chiefs defenders is a concern. We'll see if he can get through the protocol this week. The Lions have Jesse James and Logan Thomas to work at the tight end position if/when Hockenson misses time.

CLE - WR Antonio Callaway hopefully will be ready

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns WR Antonio Callaway has served his four-game suspension, and head coach Freddie Kitchens said he hopes Callaway will be ready to play.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Callaway's speed and big-play ability will be a welcome addition to the Browns offense. He will especially help since Rashard Higgins (knee) and Jarvis Landry (concussion) are banged up.

NYJ - WR Demaryius Thomas' status uncertain

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets WR Demaryius Thomas' (hamstring, knee) status for Week 5 is uncertain at this point.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jets aren't going to rush the veteran into action until he's ready. We'll get an update on his status as the week of practice goes on.

MIA - RB Kalen Ballage not used much in Week 4

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage was on the field for only eight offensive snaps during the Week 4 game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Dolphins are using Kenyan Drake as their lead back. Behind him, we've seen more from Mark Walton as a reserve runner. Ballage has struggled with the touches the Dolphins have given him in 2019.

BUF - QB Josh Allen remains in protocol

    Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen (concussion) is still going through the concussion protocol, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen is a tough quarterback but a concussion is a serious issue. We'll see if he can get cleared from the protocol as the week of practice goes by.

WAS - Washington unwilling to name starting QB

Source: NBC Sports Washington - JP Finlay

Washington Redskins QBs Case Keenum, Dwayne Haskins and Colt McCoy will all be evaluated through the end of practice Wednesday, Oct. 2, as head coach Jay Gruden is 'not sure' who he will start in Week 5 against the New England Patriots.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Haskins is their first-round pick and quarterback of the future, but this is a bad matchup for the rookie. We'll see if they throw Keenum out there in this tough start and perhaps replace him with Haskins if/when the game is out of control.

CLE - WR Jarvis Landry in concussion protocol

    Source: ESPN - Jake Trotter

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry (concussion) was placed in the league's concussion protocol Monday, Sept. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Landry can get cleared from the protocol later in the week. This is Landry's first documented NFL concussion and it will be interesting to see how quickly he gets better. The Browns travel to take on the 49ers in Week 5.

SF - RB Tevin Coleman generating optimism

Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Matt Maiocco

San Francisco 49ers RB Tevin Coleman (ankle) has been spotted catching passes, quickly turning upfield and taking a few steps at half- to three-quarters speed recently as part of his rehab from the high-ankle sprain he suffered in Week 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coleman has played in one game so far this year and has been missing time with this high-ankle sprain since then. If he's not able to go, the 49ers will march on with Matt Breida, Raheem Mostert and Jeffrey Wilson in a 3-headed RBBC.

SEA - RB Rashaad Penny set to return in Week 5

Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta

Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (hamstring) is reportedly fully recovered from his hamstring strain and will play in Week 5 against the Los Angeles Rams.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Penny got some rest in Week 4 as Chris Carson led the way on the ground for Seattle. We'll monitor his practice status during the week. He'd take some touches away from Carson if Penny can play against the Rams.

GB - RB Jamaal Williams a no-go Monday

    Source: ESPN.com

Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams (head) did not practice Monday, Sept. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams was carted off the field last Thursday night but he's doing well after being released from the hospital. It would take a minor miracle (in our opinion) for him to be out there in Week 5 against the Cowboys. That means Aaron Jones gets most all the work in the backfield against the Cowboys.

GB - WR Davante Adams sits out Monday

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (toe) did not practice Monday, Sept. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Adams had an MRI on his toe injury that came back negative. It's seen as a minor turf toe injury (if there is such a thing) but as of Monday evening, Adam Schefter was reporting Adams was not expected to play this week against the Cowboys. We'll see if Adams can practice later in the week as the team prepares for Week 5.

CIN - WR A.J. Green update

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (ankle) isn't expected to be ready for Week 5 or Week 6, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There has never really been a timetable for Green's return. Some speculate that it might have a little something to do with the fact that Green is in a contract year and looking for a new deal. Either way, the Bengals move forward with Tyler Boyd and John Ross as their top two targets. Auden Tate is also getting more work in 3-WR sets.

    Wednesday Update

NYG - WR Golden Tate activated

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

New York Giants WR Golden Tate was activated from the suspended list Tuesday, Oct. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Tate will make his Giants debut Sunday against the Vikings. He's a solid veteran who can provide some boost to the offense because of his run-after-the-catch ability. It will be interesting to see how he's used as a slot receiver...mainly because that's a spot where Sterling Shepard regularly lines up. Tate has deep flex appeal in his season debut.

CIN - WR John Ross expected to miss about a month

Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (shoulder) is expected to miss multiple games in the range of a month or so due to injury, sources said Tuesday, Oct. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We hope you started Ross while you could. He's a fast and talented player but he's banged up quite often. Without Ross, the Bengals turn more to guys like Tyler Boyd and Auden Tate. Tyler Eifert should get plenty of work as well.

PIT - RB James Conner pronounces himself fit

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (ankle) told 93.7 the Fan that while he received treatment on his injured ankle, nothing is torn and he could practice Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Conner can get a full practice in on Friday. Until then, grab Jaylen Samuels if he's available on your waiver wire just in case.

BUF - QB Matt Barkley being prepped as Week 5 starter

    Source: NFL.com - Adam Maya

Buffalo Bills QB Matt Barkley is being prepared to start Sunday against the Tennessee Titans in Week 5, according to head coach Sean McDermott Monday, Sept. 30, as starter Josh Allen (concussion) remains in the concussion protocol.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Allen can clear the concussion protocol later in the week. If Barkley starts that means you could use the Titans as a streaming defense.

ARI - RB David Johnson has prime matchup

    Source: USA TODAY Fantasy Sports

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson has a great matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 5. The Bengals have allowed the second-most fantasy points to running backs through four weeks.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Look at what both James Conner and Jaylen Samuels did (as runners and receivers) against the Bengals on Monday night. That could mostly be Johnson this week. With his usage as a receiver (and with WR Christian Kirk banged up), Johnson should get a heavy workload.

DET - WR Maurice Harris working out for Lions

Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo

Free-agent WR Maurice Harris (Patriots) is visiting the Detroit Lions Tuesday, Oct. 1. Harris was waived with a foot injury settlement in camp but was recently cleared.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Danny Amendola is banged up with a chest injury and he missed the Week 4 game against the Chiefs. Harris is a big slot receiver who could fill in if Amendola has to miss more time (and if they sign him obviously).

ARI - WR Christian Kirk nursing ankle injury

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals WR Christian Kirk (ankle) is dealing with an ankle injury suffered in Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks, head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Monday, Sept. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He didn't offer any update, and said more information would be available Wednesday, Oct. 2. The coach said the team will look into signing a receiver.

IND - WR Parris Campbell will be monitored

Source: The Herald Bulletin - George Bremer

Indianapolis Colts WR Parris Campbell (abdominal) left the Week 4 game against the Oakland Raiders early, and head coach Frank Reich said Monday, Sept. 30 that the rookie would be monitored throughout the practice week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Campbell was banged up against the Raiders but he was targeted a team-high eight times in Week 4. He's a boom-bust play when healthy but only as a deeper 'what the heck' flex.

IND - HC explains absence of RB Marlon Mack

Source: The Herald Bulletin - George Bremer

Indianapolis Colts RB Marlon Mack (ankle) was not medically ruled out during the second half of the Week 4 game against the Indianapolis Colts. However, head coach Frank Reich explained that the offense was in hurry-up mode and that it is typically RB Nyheim Hines' role.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on this situation. If Mack has to miss time with this ankle injury that would mean more Jordan Wilkins. Hines is set as their 2-minute back. If Mack was not medically ruled out then he should be good to go for Week 5 -- but watch his practice status during the week.

CAR - RB Christian McCaffrey on pace for record

Source: Establish the Run - Adam Levitan

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey is on pace for 344 carries, 100 receptions and 2,516 total yards from scrimmage, and he has played 264 of the team's 268 offensive snaps through four games. The NFL record for scrimmage yards is 2,509, set by Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson in 2009.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCaffrey can do it all. He's a no-brainer starter every week for Fantasy GMs and hopefully can hold up under this sizable workload.

    Thursday Update

NE - PK Stephen Gostkowski update

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating a previous story, New England Patriots K Stephen Gostkowski (hip) was diagnosed with a left hip injury that will require season-ending surgery, according to a source Wednesday, Oct. 2. Gostkowski is expected to be ready for the beginning of the 2020 season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

ESPN reported, "After having a handful of kickers in for workouts Wednesday, the Patriots have narrowed the field to 32-year-old Kai Forbath and 37-year-old Mike Nugent, sources told Schefter."

IND - WR T.Y. Hilton out of practice

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Jim Ayello

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (quadriceps) is out of practice Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hilton missed last week's game and could be out for Sunday night's matchup against the Chiefs. The Colts have a Week 6 bye, so he could get an extra week of rest if the team shuts him down for Week 5.

NYG - RB Saquon Barkley ahead of schedule?

    Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano

New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) was jogging and working on the side with trainers Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Barkley is a physical freak, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him get back a little earlier from this injury. His timetable is still another five to seven weeks, but this seems like a big step in his rehabilitation.

CIN - WR John Ross to IR

    Source: Bengals.com

Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (shoulder) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Oct. 2. WR Stanley Morgan was signed from the practice squad.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is the second time in his three-year career that Ross has been on Injured Reserve. He could be 'Designated to Return' after eight weeks but the team might decide to just shut him down for the rest of the year. Ross is super fast and talented but he's never played a full 16-game season in his career. The Bengals move forward with Tyler Boyd as their No. 1 receiver and Auden Tate as their No. 2 receiver. Oh yeah, they're also waiting for A.J. Green to get healthy.

KC - WR Tyreek Hill returns to practice

    Source: Chiefs.com - B.J. Kissel

Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill (shoulder) returned to practice Wednesday, Oct. 2. His amount of participation is unknown.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hill is on the right track, but this doesn't mean he's going to play in Week 5. The Chiefs have a Sunday night game against the Colts this week, and they've got plenty of talent with guys like Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson. Hill should be back in the near future, so keep an eye on his practice reports.

KC - RB Damien Williams back at practice

    Source: Chiefs.com - B.J. Kissel

Kansas City Chiefs RB Damien Williams (knee) returned to practice Wednesday, Oct. 2. His amount of participation is unknown.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Williams can get back out there for the Sunday night game against the Colts. Without him over the last two games, the Chiefs have leaned on Darrell Williams and LeSean McCoy. Watch for practice reports later in the week to determine what to do with your Chiefs RBs.

TEN - No practice for TE Delanie Walker

Source: The Tennessean - Erik Bacharach

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Walker is a seasoned veteran, so check back to see if he can practice fully later in the week. He was barely used in Week 4 against the Falcons, but Walker could produce like a low-end TE1 against the Bills on Sunday.

SEA - RB Rashaad Penny ready to play

    Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle

Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (hamstring) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 2, and is not on the injury report for Week 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Penny is back in action this week after missing Week 4. Chris Carson is the lead back but Penny's return will cut a bit into his playing time.

NE - RB Rex Burkhead limited

    Source: Patriots.com

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (foot) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Burkhead was barely involved last week against the Bills. With James White back and Burkhead being banged up, he only caught one pass in Week 4. We'll see if he's going to be used a bit more against Washington in Week 5.

HOU - WR Kenny Stills a limited participant

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans WR Kenny Stills (ankle, hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Stills can be ready for the Week 5 game against the Falcons. If Stills is out, Keke Coutee would have a larger role.

TB - WR Chris Godwin does not practice

    Source: Buccaneers.com

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (hip) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Godwin was limited in practice last week and went off against the Rams. That should ease the mind of Fantasy GMs out there. He's a WR1 against the Saints in Week 5.

PIT - No practice for RB James Conner

    Source: Steelers.com

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Conner thinks he's good to go but the team wanted to give him some rest on Wednesday. If Conner can't play against the Ravens in Week 5, we will see Jaylen Samuels do more.

DAL - WR Amari Cooper able to play through ankle issue

Source: The Athletic - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (foot/ankle) said Wednesday, Oct. 2, he's been able to play through foot and ankle issues. 'I'm fine. Healing up. I'm healthy enough to go out there and perform.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We should see Cooper out there against the Packers on Sunday. He was held in check by Saints CB Marshon Lattimore last week, but expect a bounce-back this week. He's a low-end WR1 for Week 5.

DAL - WR Michael Gallup returns to practice

    Source: SI.com - Mike Fisher

Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup (knee) returned to practice Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gallup is on track to play on Sunday against the Packers. His return would be a boost for the Cowboys offense. If he plays, Gallup is worth a 'what the heck' flex play in Week 5.

BUF - RB Devin Singletary limited

    Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills RB Devin Singletary (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Singletary can be an effective fantasy play (as a deep flex) with a smaller role. If he plays in Week 5, it would take a few touches away from starter Frank Gore.

IND - RB Marlon Mack sits with ankle issue

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Indianapolis Colts RB Marlon Mack (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on this situation as the week of practice goes on. If Mack misses time, we'd see Jordan Wilkins get a larger role. Nyheim Hines would also get more work as their satellite back.

GB - WR Davante Adams misses another practice

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Tom Silverstein

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (toe) was held out of practice again Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Adams has a toe injury but it is considered minor. However, toe injuries are known to linger if you don't treat it properly. Adams is questionable for Week 5 against the Cowboys.

BUF - QB Josh Allen listed as limited

    Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen (concussion) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen is still in the concussion protocol. He'll obviously need to be cleared from that in order to play on Sunday against the Titans.

WAS - QB Case Keenum wearing walking boot

Source: The Washington Post - Kareem Copeland

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum (foot) was wearing a walking boot at practice Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Well that's not a good sign for his availability. Washington may go with 2019 first-round pick Dwayne Haskins this week against the Patriots. Colt McCoy split first-team reps with Haskins on Wednesday.

OAK - RB Josh Jacobs a limited participant

    Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders RB Josh Jacobs (elbow) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jacobs should get a full participation in practice later in the week. It's a tough matchup against the Bears in Week 5, so consider Jacobs more of a RB3 or flex play.

OAK - WR Tyrell Williams misses practice

    Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders WR Tyrell Williams (foot) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Williams can practice, even if he's limited, later in the week. The Raiders are in Oakland to take on the Bears this Sunday.

ARI - WR KeeSean Johnson a highlighted play

    Source: USA TODAY Fantasy Sports

Arizona Cardinals WR KeeSean Johnson has upside in Week 5 against the Cincinnati Bengals with WR Christian Kirk (ankle) and WR Damiere Byrd (hamstring) likely out.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bengals have a poor pass defense, currently ranking 30th in the league in NFL passer rating (116.0) allowed after four games. The Cardinals should be able to move the ball through the air and Johnson has a chance to pay off as a GPP play in DFS or a 'what the heck' flex with upside in season-long formats.

ARI - WR Christian Kirk likely out

    Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss

Arizona Cardinals WR Christian Kirk (ankle) is unlikely to play in Week 5, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This was expected, so the team should turn to rookie Andy Isabella more with Kirk likely out. Isabella is the speedster from UMASS who turned heads in the pre-draft process. In a game against a weak Bengals defense on Sunday, Isabella could be a nice 'what the heck' flex for Fantasy GMs.

NYG - RB Wayne Gallman limited

Source: The Athletic - Dan Duggan

New York Giants RB Wayne Gallman (neck) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 2. Head coach Pat Shurmur said it was game soreness, and his status for Week 5 isn't in question.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gallman is their lead back in a tough matchup against the Vikings this week. He's an RB2 or flex play for Fantasy GMs in Week 5.

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (illness) will practice Wednesday, Oct. 2, and head coach Adam Gase deemed Darnold day to day.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Darnold has yet to be cleared for contact but he's pushing to get back out there in Week 5. The Jets aren't going anywhere this season and need to be cautious with their franchise quarterback. If Darnold can't play on the road against the Eagles, Luke Falk would get another start at quarterback.

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (abdomen) is out of practice Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson has not played since Week 2 against Atlanta where he played 11 snaps before getting banged up. He is still considered day-to-day with this injury and there's no need to rush him back.

Just keep an eye on Minshew as the week of practice goes on. The Jaguars are on the road to play the Panthers on Sunday. Minshew is a QB2 for Fantasy GMs.

Its already a month before we knew it since the season kickoff. At this stage i’m curious to see what the general predictions and picks are between the Rams vs Seahawks.

    Friday Update

LAC - RB Melvin Gordon to play in Week 5

    Source: 1 No Source

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon will play and could start Sunday, Oct. 6, when the Chargers host the Denver Broncos, head coach Anthony Lynn said Thursday, Oct. 3. 'He's getting more work (in practice) this week, and he's definitely going to have a workload this week, but not too big,' Lynn said during a SiriusXM NFL Radio interview Thursday. 'I want to work him in, but I don't want to overdo it.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chargers are likely to ease Gordon into action this week against the Broncos. That means Austin Ekeler will still get plenty of work. We see Ekeler as a RB1 and Gordon more of a flex play in his debut.

KC - RB Damien Williams a full participant

    Source: Chiefs.com

Kansas City Chiefs RB Damien Williams (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He'll be back this week and should be in lineups, especially in PPR leagues.

KC - WR Tyreek Hill remains limited

    Source: Chiefs.com

Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill (shoulder) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hill's return is not assured and the team could elect to be cautious with him, but he's obvious on track to return soon. Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson become tough to start if Hill is back and Patrick Mahomes becomes DFS chalk.

PHI - WR DeSean Jackson a no-go Thursday

Source: NBC Sports Philadelphia - Dave Zangaro

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (abdomen) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mack Hollins should get another start this week and Nelson Agholor and Alshon Jeffery have improved outlooks vs the Jets with Jackson likely sitting for Week 5.

IND - WR T.Y. Hilton practices

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Wells

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (quadriceps) was participating in practice Thursday, Oct. 3

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hilton's Friday practice will be key. The team has a bye next week so if there's any doubt they should keep Hilton out with the division title and rest of season in mind. Hilton has already aggravated this injury once and had to be kept out so he wouldn't make the injury worse. Either way, Jacoby Brissett, the Colts tight ends, and maybe Zach Pascal in deep leagues become startable options this week.

MIN - WR Stefon Diggs voices frustration

Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Ben Goessling

Minnesota Vikings WR Stefon Diggs said Thursday, Oct. 3, that he 'hasn't communicated' anything to the team about requesting a trade, but added 'there is truth to all rumors, I guess' while acknowledging that he has some dissatisfaction with the offense. I can't stand up here and act like everything is OK, because it's obviously not,' Diggs said. 'What I can say is, at this point, I'm just trying to work through it.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The most likely outcome here is Diggs plays out his contract with the Vikings, but there's a crack in the door no matter what the team says publicly. Don't expect the offense to change dramatically in a way that would satisfy Diggs or Adam Theilen's dissatisfaction with the run heavy approach.

NYG - RB Saquon Barkley not ruled out

Source: The Athletic - Dan Duggan

New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) hasn't been ruled out for Week 5. Head coach Pat Shurmur said they'll 'bring Saquon back as quickly and smartly as possible.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Barkley was supposed to miss at least a month with this ankle injury. There's a chance he could be back this week but that might be a bit outlandish. Wayne Gallman has a neck injury and has been limited in practice this week. He's still the lead back while Barkley is out.

LAC - WR Mike Williams remains limited

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers WR Mike Williams (back) remained limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams could be back this week, but Melvin Gordon will have a role in the passing game, so Williams targets could be limited against Denver - if he even plays.

NYJ - QB Sam Darnold feels ready but will play it safe

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (illness) has been limited in practice this week and while he said Thursday, Oct. 3, he feels ready to return Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, he won't risk his long-term health. 'It's a tough thing because you want to stay safe,' he said Thursday. 'I want to make sure that I'm safe out there and I'm not going to die.' Darnold will undergo an ultrasound and a blood test Friday to ensure his previously enlarged spleen is suitable for playing.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Robby Anderson and Jamison Crowder are almost unstartable if Darnold is out and the Eagles defense is a must play, but the whole offense comes back to live against the Eagles weak pass defense if he gets the green light.

HOU - WR Kenny Stills limited

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans WR Kenny Stills (ankle, hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stills injury didn't look good and ended his day early last week but it looks like he could go this week. A full practice tomorrow would be ideal. Keke Coutee is set for a larger role if Stills can't go.

NYG - RB Wayne Gallman remains limited

    Source: Giants.com

New York Giants RB Wayne Gallman (neck) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gallman has a tough matchup this week and might be benchable vs the Vikings despite his big game vs. Washington last week. There is still some small chance that Saquon Barkley plays.

DAL - WR Michael Gallup stays limited

Source: The Athletic - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup (knee) remained limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cowboys need him back against a tough Packers pass defense. Devin Smith hasn't done much with his increased opportunity. Gallup would be a dicey fantasy play if he can go as he has expressed the need for more progress mentally on his knee before fully trusting it.

CLE - WR Rashard Higgins officially limited

    Source: ClevelandBrowns.com

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns WR Rashard Higgins (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Higgins has seemed close to returning for multiple weeks, only to fall short. He had 2-46 on the first drive of the season so he's worth monitoring on the waiver wire if he ever gets healthy.

CLE - WR Jarvis Landry misses practice

    Source: ClevelandBrowns.com

Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry (concussion, shoulder) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cleveland plays Monday night so there's more time for this to change, but for now set your lineups without Landry. Antonio Callaway is back from suspension and could pick up some of Landry's snaps if he's out. Rashard HIggins could too but he is struggling to get back on the field after a Week 1 injury.

PIT - TE Vance McDonald does not practice

    Source: Steelers.com - Teresa Varley

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (shoulder) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Look for Nick Vannett to get another start and carry deep sleeper status against a Ravens defense that Ricky Seals-Jones found space in last week.

PIT - WR JuJu Smith-Schuster sits again

    Source: Steelers.com - Teresa Varley

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (toe) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There is hope Smith-Schuster will be able to play on Sunday, but it will be difficult to expect that if he doesn't practice Friday. If he's out, Diontae Johnson would be the de facto #1 with more targets but better coverage, and James Washington would get an extended look. Fantasy teams are wondering whether to start him when he's healthy right now, but the Baltimore matchup is too good pass up if Smith-Schuster is active.

PIT - RB James Conner remains sidelined

    Source: Steelers.com - Teresa Varley

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (ankle) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Conner is not on a good track this week. The Steelers basically require players to practice if they are going to play. He could practice tomorrow and start vs Baltimore, but if he's out, fire up Jaylen Samuels, who has been productive in every start (three last year) he has taken in place of Conner.

BUF - RB Devin Singletary limited again

    Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills RB Devin Singletary (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Singletary could play this week, but it's not a great matchup, his role will be unknown, and he has risk of re-injury. With a bye up next week, the Bills sitting him one more week is in his fantasy team's best interest.

WAS - WR Terry McLaurin remains limited in practice

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins WR Terry McLaurin (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice again Thursday, Oct. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McLaurin getting in a full practice tomorrow would be comforting, but do you really want to start him vs. Stephon Gilmore and New England? Sitting him might be the wisest route for this team.

CLE - TE David Njoku plans to return this season

Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (wrist) said Thursday, Oct. 3, he expects to return this season after undergoing surgery for a broken wrist. Njoku added that he has been cleared from the concussion protocol.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He's still not worth carrying through the absence in redraft leagues. Ricky Seals-Jones showed some promise at tight end for fantasy last week and has some deep sleeper appeal vs San Francisco this week.

BUF - QB Josh Allen unlikely for Week 5?

Source: Democrat and Chronicle - Sal Maiorana

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen (concussion) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 3, as he remains in the concussion protocol. In the opinion of beat reporter Sal Maiorana, it would make sense for the Bills to rest Allen in Week 5 with the team's bey week immediately following in Week 6.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Matt Barkley would get the start, but it's not a significant downgrade in the potential for Cole Beasley in the matchup at Tennessee. John Brown's potential in the deep passing game would take a hit if Allen is out.

IND - RB Marlon Mack does not practice Thursday

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Joel A. Erickson

Indianapolis Colts RB Marlon Mack (ankle) was unable to practice for a second straight day Thursday, Oct. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's looking more like Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines in the Colts backfield, with Hines the better play, especially in PPR leagues. The Colts will likely have to be in pass mode against the Chiefs Sunday night.

GB - WR Davante Adams, RB Jamaal Williams sitting out

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Tom Silverstein

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (toe) remained out of practice Thursday, Oct. 3, while RB Jamaal Williams (concussion) worked off to the side.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams has a chance to return but the Packers medical staff is conservative. Aaron Jones becomes a safer play if Williams is out. Adams is almost certain to miss the game and it might not be good for his season-long outlook if he does play. We'll see if Aaron Rodgers can elevate this offense with Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Geronimo Allison, Jake Kumerow, and Jimmy Graham as his primary targets.

WAS - TE Vernon Davis remains sidelined

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins TE Vernon Davis (concussion) missed a second straight day of practice Thursday, Oct. 3, as he deals with a concussion.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jeremy Sprinkle should get a chance to show his stuff in what will likely be a Patriots landslide win.

WAS - QB Case Keenum back on field

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum (foot) returned to practice Thursday, Oct. 3, a day after sitting out while wearing a walking boot on his injured foot.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keenum could play this week, but he's unlikely to finish the game against the Patriots. The only difference if he starts is more failed pass attempts downfield instead of in the short passing game.

CIN - WR A.J. Green ruled out for Week 5

    Source: ESPN.com - Ben Baby

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (ankle) will not play in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals, head coach Zac Taylor confirmed Wednesday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Green isn't anywhere close to coming back according to reports. He's out this week and should be out next week too. Perhaps we'll get an update later but it doesn't look like he's close to returning.

    Saturday Update

NYG - RB Saquon Barkley ruled out

Source: NFL Network - Andrew Siciliano

New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) on Friday, Oct. 4, was ruled out for Week 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wayne Gallman is a what the heck flex this week with some potential in PPR leagues after he showed good skills in the passing game last week. The Vikings should be able to bottle him up as a runner. Barkley is aiming for a return Thursday to face the Patriots.

DAL - WR Michael Gallup ready to return

Source: Dallas Morning News - Michael Gehlken

Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup (knee) practiced Friday, Oct. 4, for the third straight day as a limited participant and said he's ready for game action. 'Where am I at? Ready to play,' he said Friday.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gallup is still a risky play and the Packers pass defense is good, but his return would be a boon for Dak Prescott, who has gotten very little from Devin Smith in Gallup's absence.

KC - RB Damien Williams likely to play

    Source: Chiefs.com - B.J. Kissel

Kansas City Chiefs RB Damien Williams (knee) is expected to return from a two-week absence and play in Week 5 versus the Indianapolis Colts, according to head coach Andy Reid.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams is at least a flex and probably an RB2 in PPR leagues. Darius Leonard being sidelined helps his prospects. Darrel Williams is still worth holding as a high value handcuff to both Williams and LeSean McCoy.

MIN - WR Stefon Diggs' status up in air

    Source: NFL.com - Jeremy Bergman

Minnesota Vikings WR Stefon Diggs' status for Week 5 on Sunday, Oct. 6, likely will hinge on a coach's decision. Asked Friday, Oct. 4, if Diggs will play, coach Mike Zimmer replied, 'I don't know. We'll see.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He is expected to play and has a good matchup with the Giants secondary but check back Sunday morning before putting him in your lineup. Right now it looks like there is little chance he'll get traded.

KC - WR Tyreek Hill a no-go for Week 5

    Source: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher

Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill (clavicle) will not play in Week 5 against the Indianapolis Colts.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson remain viable plays, especially if Sammy Watkins is limited or out after a limited practice today. Hill could back next week to face the Texans.

WAS - QB Colt McCoy getting Week 5 start

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy will start Sunday, Oct. 6 when the Redskins host the New England Patriots in Week 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The short passing game to Trey Quinn could benefit. Even if Terry McLaurin can go, McCoy might not be the best option to unlock his deep passing game value against Devin McCourty and the lockdown Patriots secondary.

BUF - Week 5 hope remains for QB Josh Allen

    Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Updating previous reports, Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen (concussion) could still start in Week 5 even though he was in the concussion protocol as of Friday, Oct. 4. Coach Sean McDermott said Friday that if Allen clears the protocol before Sunday's game at Tennessee, he'd be comfortable starting him.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

John Brown might be a better start with Allen's arm strength in the lineup and Cole Beasley might be better if Matt Barkley is in. Either way, the team would prefer Allen.

PIT - WR JuJu Smith-Schuster says he's questionable

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster said he was a limited participant in practice Friday, Oct. 4, and declared himself questionable for the team's Week 5 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There was optimism about him playing this week earlier, and he has a great matchup against the beleaguered Ravens secondary, so he's probably a start as long as he's active, but we already have seen his floor with Mason Rudolph.

NYJ - QB Sam Darnold out for Week 5

    Source: NewYorkJets.com

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (illness) will be out for Week 5, according to head coach Adam Gase.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

His status for Week 6 is unknown. Robby Anderson and Jamison Crowder are only desperation plays while he is out and Le'Veon Bell's ceiling and floor both drop significantly.

PHI - WR DeSean Jackson out again

Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Jeff McLane

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (abdomen) was ruled out for Week 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mack Hollins will get more playing time with Jackson out. The team is smart to rest him as he's not really needed for the matchup against the Jets without Sam Darnold.

IND - Questionable tag for RB Marlon Mack

    Source: Colts.com

Indianapolis Colts RB Marlon Mack (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 4, but is listed as questionable for Week 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mack's full practice designation creates a lot of optimism that he will play Sunday night. If he can go, he'll have a chance to run against a weak Chiefs run defense, but for how long before the Colts have to abandon the run because they've fallen behind at Arrowhead.

IND - WR T.Y. Hilton listed as questionable

    Source: Colts.com

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (quadriceps) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 4, and is listed as questionable for Week 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hilton is a true game time decision on Sunday night. If you want to wait for him, make sure you have Zach Pascal, Mecole Hardman, Demarcus Robinson, or a 49ers receiver to hedge against an inactive designation with the Colts on the eve of a bye.

WAS - WR Terry McLaurin's status in question

    Source: Redskins.com

Washington Redskins WR Terry McLaurin (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 4, and is listed as questionable for Week 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McLaurin will likely see a lot of Stephon Gilmore if he does play, and Colt McCoy will be the starting quarterback, so he's a bench this week if he's active as long as you have a viable alternative.

NE - WR Julian Edelman listed as questionable

Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams (concussion) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 4, and has been ruled out for Week 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Dexter Williams will get a chance to back up Aaron Jones and get some NFL action this week, but Aaron Jones is the bigger winner for fantasy with Jamaal Williams out this week. Jones should get a feature back workload including more involvement in the passing game.

Oakland Raiders WR Tyrell Williams (foot) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 4, and is listed as questionable for Week 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams isn't a promising play against the Bears and has some risk of diminished play because of injury. The Raiders might be better off sitting him with a bye up next week.

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (toe) has been ruled out for Week 5 versus the Dallas Cowboys.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Geronimo Allison, and Jake Kumerow will be the top three receivers and while they have more opportunity, Aaron Rodgers outlook is dimmed without Adams. Jimmy Graham could also play a larger role in the passing game this week.

Jaylen Samuels gets a downgrade to what the heck flex with the good news about Conner. The team could still employ a two back attack, but Conner is the better play as it appears his missed practices were precautionary.

ARI - WR Christian Kirk still a spectator

    Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss

Arizona Cardinals WR Christian Kirk (ankle) is sitting out his third straight day of practice Friday, Oct. 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kirk could be back next week to face the Falcons. It doesn't sound like his ankle injury is serious enough to sideline him for a long period.

IND - WR Parris Campbell out indefinitely

Source: FOX 59 Indianapolis - Mike Chappell

Indianapolis Colts WR Parris Campbell (abdominal) recently underwent a procedure to address his abdominal injury. He has been ruled out for Week 5 and there is no timetable yet for his return.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Zach Pascal, Chester Rogers, and Deon Cain will have increased opportunity over the typical allotment this week even if TY Hilton can't go this week with Campbell sidelined.

HOU - WR Kenny Stills to be game-time decision

    Source: ESPN.com - Sarah Barshop

Houston Texans WR Kenny Stills (ankle, hamstring) will be a game-time decision Sunday, Oct. 6, as he deals with ankle and hamstring injuries, head coach Bill O'Brien said Friday, Oct. 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keke Coutee would get on deep league radars if Stills can't go. The Texans have a good matchup against the Falcons secondary this week. It's better for Stills long term outlook if he sits this week to decrease the chance of aggravation by coming back too soon.

CLE - WR Odell Beckham Jr. not getting fair shake?

    Source: Cleveland.com - Scott Patsko

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (hip) has been victimized by too many uncalled defensive holding/pass interference calls this season, in the opinion of Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens. 'Here is what I think is difficult: for Odell not to be able to run a route without getting grabbed,' Kitchens said at his Thursday, Oct. 3 news conference. 'I think that is what frustrates him. We are working on him just staying to course, and he does a good job of staying of course. I will just say that.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beckham will get his eventually, so don't bail on him in lineups and toss out a trade offer to see if his team is getting impatient.

CLE - WR Jarvis Landry cleared

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry (concussion) cleared the concussion protocol Friday, Oct. 4, and he's expected to practice.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Landry becomes a solid WR3/Flex option Monday night vs San Francisco on this news. He's coming off of his best game of the year.

I'm sick of Beckham Jr complaining about this and that, just shut up and play ball.

    Sunday Update

NE - RB Rex Burkhead to miss Week 5

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (foot) on Saturday, Oct. 5, was downgraded out for the team's Week 5 game at Washington.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Patriots backfield is a little less cluttered with Burkhead out. Sony Michel should be the lead ball-carrier while James White should be the top receiving back.

NO - QB Drew Brees resumes throwing

    Source: Instagram - Drew Brees

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees (thumb) shared a video to Instragram Saturday, Oct. 5, of him participating in some light throwing drills.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A good sign for Brees here. He had thumb surgery a couple of weeks ago and initially had a six-week timetable for his return. The plan was to have him ready around Week 10 but Brees may be ready sooner than that. In the meantime, Teddy Bridgewater remains as the team's starter.

BUF - QB Josh Allen expected to play

    Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen (concussion) has cleared the concussion protocol and is expected to play in the Week 5 game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Bills here. Allen will help the Bills offense greatly with his return, but this matchup against the Titans is a tough one.

CIN - WR Auden Tate, WR Alex Erickson to start

Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Tyler Dragon

Cincinnati Bengals WRs Auden Tate and Alex Erickson will join WR Tyler Boyd as the starting receivers for the Week 5 game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Tate is a big body who can win on the outside. Erickson is your classic slot receiver who is fearless when going over the middle.

BUF - RB Devin Singletary may be game-time decision

    Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills RB Devin Singletary (hamstring) probably will be a game-time decision for the Week 5 game, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Singletary has been working his way back from this hamstring injury slowly but surely. He's not the fastest back out there, so a hamstring injury can really limited the juice he has on the field. Singletary is a talented rookie and capable of being fantasy relevant even with a reserve role behind Frank
    Gore.

SF - Optimism for RB Tevin Coleman's return

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

San Francisco 49ers RB Tevin Coleman (ankle) is officially considered questionable to play Monday, Oct. 7, against the Cleveland Browns, but head coach Kyle Shanahan believes his Week 1 starter will be able to make his return. 'Definitely being optimistic about him being ready to go on Monday. We'll be excited to have him.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coleman should be back on Monday night for the first time since Week 1. However, the 49ers already have a 3-headed RBBC and it will be interesting to see how Coleman fits into that corps.

DAL - WR Michael Gallup expected to play Sunday

Source: The Athletic - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup (knee) is expected to play Sunday, Oct. 6, against the Green Bay Packers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gallup might see a limited role if the team wants to ease him back into action. He's not been on the field since Week 2.

CHI - QB Tyler Bray promoted as backup

Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs

Chicago Bears QB Tyler Bray was signed off of the practice squad Saturday, Oct. 5. He'll serve as the backup to QB Chase Daniel Sunday, Oct. 6, against the Oakland Raiders. TE Bradley Sowell's contract was terminated in a corresponding move.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Daniel is the starter against the Raiders, Bray is the backup. Both have experience under Nagy from working together in Kansas City. Bray has a big arm but say-it-don't-spray-it accuracy. It's unlikely he would look good if forced into duty.

TB - WR Chris Godwin on record pace

    Source: PewterReport.com - Scott Reynolds

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin has 26 receptions for 386 yards and four touchdowns through four games, putting him on pace for 1,544 yards and 16 TDs, which would break WR Mike Evans' single-season records of 1,524 and 12, respectively.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Godwin can keep up this pace. He's been banged up this year but still playing at a high level. Fantasy GMs can start Godwin as a WR1 every week.

CLE - WR Rashard Higgins gets questionable tag

Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich

Cleveland Browns WR Rashard Higgins (knee) was a full participant in practice Saturday, Oct. 5, and and is listed as questionable for the team's Week 5 game Monday, Oct. 7 at San Francisco.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is a good sign for Higgins to return on Monday night. With Antonio Callaway returning from his suspension this week, Baker Mayfield now has more weapons around him. We'll see how the roles for those two WRs works out.

HOU - WR Kenny Stills a game-time decision

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans WR Kenny Stills (ankle, hamstring) is considered a game-time decision for the Week 5 game, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see Keke Coutee with a larger role if Stills is out. This should be a high-scoring game between the Falcons and the Texans on Sunday.

NYJ - WR Demaryius Thomas has good chance to play

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets WR Demaryius Thomas (hamstring) looked good during practice this week and is expected to play in the Week 5 game, according to head coach Adam Gase.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're not expecting much from Thomas if he plays. We'd be more excited about the Jets passing game when Sam Darnold (mono) returns to action...and even then it's not something to get too excited about.

CLE - RB Nick Chubb to remain starter

Source: The Athletic - Jay Glazer

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb will remain the team's primary back even after the return of RB Kareem Hunt from suspension, according to The Athletic's Jay Glazer, who says Hunt will be used as a change of pace.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hunt is still serving his 8-game suspension. It's great depth to have when Hunt returns, but we still imagine Chubb will get the majority of the workload. Hunt is a fantastic handcuff for Fantasy GMs because the team wouldn't miss a beat on the ground if Chubb went down.

MIN - WR Stefon Diggs likely to play

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Updating previous reports, Minnesota Vikings WR Stefon Diggs is expected to be active in Week 5 against the New York Giants, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Diggs has been fined for missing early week practices already but he's likely to play in this game against the Giants. It is a great matchup against a weak Giants secondary but the Vikings will establish the run first and foremost. That makes Diggs more of a flex play in Week 5.

    Monday Update

PIT - QB Mason Rudolph suffers a concussion

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mason Rudolph (head) left the Week 5 game early after suffering a concussion.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Steelers will likely have to sign a quarterback this week and likely start UDFA Devlin Hodges at quarterback against the Chargers. Rudolph was unconscious for an alarming amount of time and very shaky when he left the field. Stay tuned for more information Monday.

CAR - RB Christian McCaffrey rips off 237 yards

    Source: ESPN

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey rushed 19 times for 176 yards and two touchdowns in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars and he added six grabs for 61 yards and a score on nine targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The goodness keeps rolling with McCaffrey. He's been nothing short of amazing. It's early but he's putting himself into the MVP conversation if he keeps this up.

PHI - RB Miles Sanders totals 13 touches

    Source: ESPN

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders rushed nine times for 15 yards in Week 5 against the New York Jets and he added four receptions for 49 yards on five targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanders is getting downfield targets and converting them, which is exciting for his PPR league prospects. He is behind Jordan Howard in the running game, but still a viable flex and worth holding on your bench.

NO - WR Michael Thomas goes bonkers in win

    Source: ESPN

New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas rolled up 11 receptions for 182 yards and two touchdowns on 13 targets in Week 5 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas was dominant against the Bucs secondary. He and Teddy Bridgewater are on the same page and he should be among the top options in DFS next week as long as Jalen Ramsey doesn't play when the Saints go to Jacksonville.

TB - WR Chris Godwin has giant performance

    Source: ESPN

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin registered seven receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns on nine targets in Week 5 against the New Orleans Saints.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Godwin might be a first round pick if we were drafting today. He got one of his scores in garbage time but they all count the game. He'll face a Panthers secondary that he already hung an 8-121-1 line on earlier this year.

NYJ - Le'Veon Bell posts 88 total yards

    Source: NFL.com

New York Jets RB Le'Veon Bell rushed for 43 yards on 15 carries against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5. He also caught seven passes for 45 yards during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bell is getting by on volume and cheap PPR points, but he still has some upside when Sam Darnold returns, which will hopefully be next week.

CHI - QB Chase Daniel tosses two TDs in loss

    Source: ESPN

Chicago Bears QB Chase Daniel completed 22-of-30 passes for 231 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Week 5 against the Oakland Raiders in London.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Daniel didn't play well in this one and certainly won't be creating any quarterback controversy over the bye while Mitchell Trubisky mends from a shoulder injury. The Bears fell behind and had to rely on the pass to get back in the game or it might have been a complete dud from Daniel.

WAS - WR Terry McLaurin targeted seven times

    Source: ESPN

Washington Redskins WR Terry McLaurin posted three receptions for 51 yards on seven targets in Week 5 against the New England Patriots.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McLaurin played despite being a game time decision, and considering the matchup it wasn't a terrible fantasy result. He might see a lot of Xavien Howard next week but assuming he has a good week of practice, he'll be back in WR3/Flex consideration.

MIN - Two touchdowns for WR Adam Thielen

    Source: NFL.com

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen caught seven passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns against the New York Giants in Week 5. He was targeted eight times during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thielen had a massive squeaky wheel gets the oil game against a Giants secondary that isn't putting up much resistance. We won't be benching him again this year and he's looking like a top 3-5 overall Week 6 option against Philadelphia.

MIN - RB Dalvin Cook has monster game in Week 5

    Source: NFL.com

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook rushed for 132 yards on 21 carries against the New York Giants in Week 5. He also caught six passes for 86 yards during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cook was a big presence in the passing game and lethal as always in the running game as the Vikings led the whole way. He faces a tough Eagles run defense next week but is unbenchable.

MIN - QB Kirk Cousins surpasses 300-yard mark

    Source: NFL.com

Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins went 22-for-27 for 306 yards and two touchdowns against the New York Giants in Week 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Vikings didn't exactly fill the air with footballs, but Cousins was highly efficient against a weak Giants pass defense. He faces another vulnerable secondary against the Eagles next week and might be worth a streamer start.

NE - RB Sony Michel totals 123 yards, score

    Source: ESPN

New England Patriots RB Sony Michel rushed 16 times for a season-high 91 yards and a touchdown in Week 5 against the Washington Redskins and he added three grabs for 32 yards on his three targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Michel looked better than he did at any point so far this year and the passing game involvement was good to see. He's back to solid RB2 status against the Giants on Thursday.

CIN - WR Auden Tate registers TD in Week 5

    Source: ESPN

Cincinnati Bengals WR Auden Tate posted three grabs for 26 yards and a touchdown on six targets in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Tate should have had two scores but couldn't hold onto a short one in the first half. He'll be a what the heck flex against the Ravens next week.

ARI - RB David Johnson totals 156 scrimmage yards

    Source: ESPN

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson ran 17 times for 91 yards in Week 5 against the Cincinnati Bengals while posting three grabs for a team-high 65 yards on five targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson ran better than he has in the last few years and made a big downfield catch in the first win of the year for the team. He remains a solid RB1 heading into a good matchup with Atlanta.

BUF - QB Josh Allen throws two TDs

    Source: NFL.com

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen went 23-for-32 for 219 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against the Tennessee Titans in Week 5. He also rushed for 27 yards on 10 carries.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen was mostly safe and sound with his decisions and got some help from the Titans poor kicking game. He'll be a matchup streamer after his Week 6 bye.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR James Washington (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury during the Week 5 game and will not return.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Washington made a few plays in this one, but this injury ended his afternoon with no hopes of returning, so he's doubtful for Sunday night vs the Chargers.
