CIN - WR A.J. Green expected to be sidelined 6-8 weeks

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (ankle) is expected to be sidelined six to eight weeks after tearing ligaments in his ankle during a practice at the University of Dayton's Welcome Stadium as part of the NFL's 100th-anniversary celebration. He isn't expected to be ready for the regular-season opener at the Seattle Seahawks.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He's reportedly seeking a second opinion but for today, 6-8 weeks seems to be the timeline. Green will fall out of the third round and maybe farther, a lot farther. Not only will this likely cost him games, but who knows how many games it will take to get to full speed, and the risk of re-injury. The sixth round sounds about right for where his ADP will level off.

LAR - RB Todd Gurley on preservation plan

    Source: NFL.com - Logan Reardon

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley will be on a 'veteran plan' during training camp, getting interspersed rest days, and will not play in the preseason as the Rams aim to have him in optimal shape for the regular season. 'There will be (days he doesn't practice),' Rams coach Sean McVay said. 'There will be some days that -- depending upon his workload and looking toward that (Week 1) Carolina game -- we might look at treating him like we have some of those veteran players. Todd really has become a veteran player.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Rams are spinning this positively, but Gurley is 24, turning 25 next week, and this is not business as usual for a player that age. It sounds like were are not going to get more information to help guide us in drafts and the current position fantasy players have taken on Gurley is what they will take into drafts.

NYJ - Le'Veon Bell busy with drug tests

Source: New York Daily News - Dennis Young

New York Jets RB Le'Veon Bell was forced to leave back-to-back practices recently to submit to league drug tests. 'Since he wasn't here in the spring, they have to do everything now,' Jets coach Adam Gase explained Saturday, July 27. 'You guys don't see it all the time. You know, in the season sometimes we can be out at practice where a guy gets pulled off. It happens a lot in OTAs, you know, guys will come out late because they've got to do that.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bell has broken league policies on controlled substances before, so they may be more strict on the testing. The league treats players differently once they are "in the program'.

KC - WR Tyreek Hill working on life skills

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill said Sunday, July 28, he had a long conversation with team owner Clark Hunt after being cleared to rejoin the team and admitted 'I have to work on my life skills.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hill is still a risk to run afoul of the law and league policies, but he is fully participating and not missing any time this year. He has #1 fantasy receiver upside, but it can all fall apart at any moment. He'll be going in the late first/early second in drafts.

OAK - WR Antonio Brown's injury still a mystery

Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Scott Bair

Oakland Raiders WR Antonio Brown (undisclosed) wound up spending two days on the Active/Non-Football Injury list before passing his physical and practicing Sunday, July 28. The Raiders, though, are still refusing to divulge the nature of Brown's injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

As long as he stays on the practice field, we don't really need to know, but it's something to remember if he ends up on the injury report again this summer or during the season.

LAC - LAC, RB Melvin Gordon not close on salary talks

Source: Yahoo! Sports - Charles Robinson

RB Melvin Gordon and the Los Angeles Chargers are reportedly $2 million to $3 million apart in discussions on average salary.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That is a significant amount and means that this will stay at a stalemate unless Gordon decides to put off getting paid until next year or take less than he thinks he is worth or the Chargers decide to cave to his demands.

TEN - RB Derrick Henry spotted wearing walking boot

    Source: TitanInsider.com - Terry McCormick

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry (leg) was spotted with a walking boot on his left foot after being injured during the first day of training camp Friday, July 26, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation. Head coach Mike Vrabel said Henry was listed as day-to-day and added that the injury was not serious Friday, but did not provide an update on his condition Saturday, July 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll need to see Henry on the practice field and hopefully in a preseason game before fully writing this off as a minor injury and non-factor in his fantasy projection this year. For now, it is reasonable to move him down in the stacked third-round RB2 with RB1 upside tier.

OAK - QB Derek Carr encouraged to run more

Source: San Jose Mercury News - Jerry McDonald

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr is getting some push from head coach Jon Gruden to scramble more often in 2019.'Derek is a lot more athletic than people think. Hopefully, we can get some more scramble, second-reaction offense,' Gruden said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carr is going to need to be more aggressive-minded as a passer and more willing to be a creative thinker if he is going to survive under Gruden, who is notoriously hard on his quarterbacks. This could help his fantasy bottom line if he takes to the advice, especially because the Raiders defense will be in the bottom half of the league and get them into higher scoring games.

PIT - WR Donte Moncrief opens as starter

Source: Steelers Depot - Alex Kozora

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Donte Moncrief opened practice as the starting receiver across from WR JuJu Smith-Schuster Saturday, July 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This should put a damper on James Washington's value, although Moncrief's ADP shouldn't really pick up unless we see evidence that the role won't be split. Rookie Diontae Johnson offers different strengths than Moncrief and Washington and may figure into this picture.

NO - TE Jared Cook building chemistry

Source: USA TODAY Sports - Luke Johnson

New Orleans Saints TE Jared Cook has been seeing 'a lot of looks' from QB Drew Brees during training camp, according to Luke Johnson of USA Today Sports.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Saints haven't had a tight end of Cook's caliber since Jimmy Graham, so his upside is unknown. He's worth a TE1 pick after 6-7 of them are off of the board.

DAL - RB Darius Jackson leads backfield

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys RB Darius X. Jackson worked as the primary first-team running back during practice Saturday, July 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cowboys have two rookies and Jackson behind Ezekiel Elliott, and Jackson has the most experience in the organization after the team drafted him in the sixth round in 2016, so this makes sense. He tested out very athletic even by NFL terms but hasn't been able to stick or get playing time in the NFL yet.

LAR - No restrictions for WR Cooper Kupp

Source: NFL Network - Omar Ruiz

Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp (knee) will have no restrictions during training camp, according to head coach Sean McVay.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is great news for Kupp and the Rams offense. Kupp's ADP has been deflated because of injury recovery uncertainty, but it should bounce back now.

IND - WR Parris Campbell impressing with red-zone skills

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Wells

Indianapolis Colts rookie WR Parris Campbell impressed head coach Frank Reich Sunday, July 28, with his work in red-zone drills. 'What he did in the red zone weren't hybrid, gadget, slot receiver type plays. They were legit, NFL, I'm going to be a stud receiver plays.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Campbell is reportedly showing route running skills far advanced from what was on his Ohio State tape. He could be an instant star and should be moving up fantasy draft boards.

BAL - Teammate raves about WR Miles Boykin

Source: The Athletic - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens WR Miles Boykin, a third-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, drew strong praise from teammate WR Willie Snead Sunday, July 28. 'I tell him every day, 'you look like (New Orleans Saints WR) Michael Thomas, man.' He's going to be a huge part of our offense,' Snead said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Boykin could pass Marquise Brown to be the #1 when the season opens if Brown is slow to get back on the field. At this moment, he is probably the one Ravens wide out worth drafting in typical leagues.

HOU - RB Josh Ferguson still viewed as top candidate for RB3 role

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans RB Josh Ferguson is still regarded as the leading candidate for the team's third running back role, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. Lamar Miller and D'Onta Foreman are locked in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It sounds like Ferguson is in line to get some passing down work and Foreman will get early down work. Miller should get enough touches to justify his ADP, but if Foreman comes on as a runner it could muddy the waters.

WAS - WR Trey Quinn making impression

    Source: Around The NFL

Washington Redskins WR Trey Quinn has impressed the coaching staff this offseason, and coach Jay Gruden said Sunday, July 28, that Quinn has 'got the inside spot (the slot starting role) pretty much locked down.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Quinn has a chance to lead the team in targets and receptions because the passing game may have to focus on the short game if Trent Williams doesn't play for them this year. He's a good late round PPR pick.

BUF - RB Devin Singletary gets first-team reps

    Source: ESPN.com - Marcel Louis-Jacques

Buffalo Bills RB Devin Singletary received a 'a ton' of first-team reps in practice Sunday, July 28, according to a beat reporter.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team is keeping Frank Gore and LeSean McCoy fresh, so this isn't like Kalen Ballage having a chance to overtake Kenyan Drake in Miami, but it is a chance for Singletary to show his stuff and prove he can he flourish in the offense.

MIA - WR Albert Wilson practicing Sunday

Source: The Miami Herald - Adam H. Beasley

Miami Dolphins WR Albert Wilson (hip) is in full pads and practicing Sunday, July 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wilson seems to be fully over the hip injury that ended his 2018 and kept him from practicing this spring. He'll be in line for a lot of targets and snaps in the slot if he can stay healthy, although Jakeem Grant will have something to say about that.

NO - Keith Kirkwood making an impact

Source: USA TODAY Sports - Luke Johnson

New Orleans Saints WR Keith Kirkwood has 'made the most plays' of any receiver during training camp, according to Luke Johnson of USA TODAY Sports.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kirkwood is getting valuable experience in place of Michael Thomas while Thomas is holding out for a new contract at the top of the wide receiver market. He appears to be equal if not ahead of Tre'Quan Smith in importance in the Saints wide receiver corps.

CIN - TE Tyler Eifert practicing Saturday

Source: The Athletic - Jay Morrison

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) participated in practice Saturday, July 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's great to see Eifert out there. He was almost back to old form before his injury last year and will at least deserve waiver wire speed dial status if not late round streamer value in drafts.

So what’s up with that kid James Washington....haven’t heard much about him. And I thought Eli Rogers could get more action.

            Tuesday Update

LAR - Light shed on RB Darrell Henderson's role?

Source: Yahoo! Sports - Charles Robinson

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson is expected to be utilized in the same kind of 'flexible mismatch' role Chris Thompson assumed when head coach Sean McVay was the offensive coordinator for the Washington Redskins.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Chris Thompson flirted with RB1 value in PPR leagues in McVay's offense so this isn't bad news for Henderson's stock, although he's being drafted close to his ceiling if Todd Gurley stays healthy all year. This is enough to justify him at ADP when combined with the Gurley injury upside.

SEA - WR D.K. Metcalf works with starters

Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta

Seattle Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf worked with the first-team offense across from Tyler Lockettin two-receiver sets Sunday, July 28.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

David Moore, Jaron Brown, and Metcalf are all vying for first-team snaps across from Lockett. With Jarran Reed suspended for the first six games and lots of top offenses on the schedule, the WR2 for the Seahawks could have value. Metcalf has the best tools, but the least experience.

KC - RB Damien Williams tweaks hamstring

            Source: KCChiefs.com - B.J. Kissel

Kansas City Chiefs RB Damien Williams (hamstring) left practice early with a hamstring issue Sunday, July 28.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams hasn't been a lead back for a full season, so there are some doubts about his ability to live up to ADP despite the perfect situation in Kansas City and his late season success. If he misses a week or less and returns to the field, we won't worry, but that is not a given.

LAR - QB Jared Goff continuing to develop

Source: Yahoo! Sports - Charles Robinson

Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff 'continues to get stronger physically,' according to Yahoo! Sports' Charles Robinson. Head coach Sean McVay told Robinson that Goff is 'more twitchy in his upper body' and 'knows the offense to the point of adding his own stamps to it.'

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

As long as the two new starters on the offensive line gel, Goff will be set up for his best season yet. He is one of a myriad of values at the quarterback position.

CIN - WR John Ross likely sidelined two weeks

            Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (hamstring) could 'possibly' miss two weeks with a 'hamstring issue,' according to Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is terrible news for Ross in a summer that could have seen him establish himself as a possible starter with good performances in place of AJ Green. The hope is that he'll be ready to go before the end of preseason to make a run at starting in Week 1 when Green is likely out.

PHI - RB Jordan Howard hogging first-team reps

            Source: 94WIP Radio - Eliot Shorr-Parks

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jordan Howard is 'dominating carries with the first-team offense' so far in training camp, according to 94WIP's Eliot Shorr-Parks.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Howard should be the most valuable Eagles back in the early season, but he might not get enough work to be consistently relevant unless he is a frequent goal line option - which he could be. The team is likely to bring rookie Miles Sanders along slowly, with maybe 8-10 touches a game to start the season.

NE - RB Sony Michel on the sidelines again

            Source: MassLive.com - Andrew Callahan

New England Patriots RB Sony Michel (knee) was back on the sidelined for team drills on Sunday, July 28, so RBs Brandon Bolden, Rex Burkhead and James White divvied up the first-team carries.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Like Todd Gurley, Michel is 24 and a bit young for this kind of treatment, so it casts a shadow on his outlook, but if he makes it through camp healthy, it could be a sign that he will be a value at a depressed ADP. Damien Harris isn't getting first-team reps yet, but he's still the back poised to benefit the most if Michel misses time.

BUF - Robert Foster slow to start

Source: 13WHAM ABC Rochester - Mike Catalana

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Foster has been working primarily with the second-team offense during training camp, and head coach Sean McDermott said Foster is going through the typical adjustment period that second-year players deal with.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Foster had great chemistry on the deep ball with Josh Allen last year, but the Bills additions at wide receiver have relegated him to the second team. He should stay on deep dynasty rosters and he'll be on waiver wire speed dial if John Brown gets hurt. The Bills have their best depth at wide receiver in years.

HOU - RB Lamar Miller still top dog?

Source: The Athletic - Aaron Reiss

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller is still the lead back, head coach Bill O'Brien said Sunday, July 28.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

D'Onta Foreman could spell him on running downs and Josh Ferguson on passing downs, but it looks like he'll be the lead back again to start the season. Foreman could close the gap on early downs with good performances in September. Miller is a high floor/low ceiling option at current ADP, but is a solid pick for teams that only take one running back in their first five picks.

CAR - WR Curtis Samuel praised for route-running

            Source: Panthers.com - Max Henson

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel is 'becoming an outstanding route runner,' according to offensive coordinator Norv Turner.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Samuel has been rounds behind DJ Moore in ADP even though their production was similar down the stretch last year and the draft capital expended wasn't that different. The steady drumbeat of these kinds of news items could change that.

NYJ - WR Jamison Crowder exits with injury

            Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets WR Jamison Crowder (leg) left practice Monday, July 29, with a left ankle or foot injury. He missed seven games last season with an injury to his right ankle.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Crowder will need an MRI, which is not a great sign. Injuries have been a too frequent part of his outlook and don't appear to be going away in his first season with the Jets.

NO - WR Cameron Meredith released

Source: The Times-Picayune - Herbie Teope

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith was released Monday, July 29.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Meredith has clearly lost something from his surgery that he is unlikely to get back. The Saints negotiated a pay cut with him to increase his chances of making the roster, but it isn't going to work out. UDFA Emmanuel Butler has been getting buzz, so he has a better chance of making the roster with this news. Simmie Cobbs has also gotten some praise from beat writers.

NE - Rookie WR Harry works with second team

            Source: MassLive.com - Andrew Callahan

New England Patriots WR N'Keal Harry worked behind WRs Phillip Dorsett and Maurice Harrisduring team periods in practice on Sunday, July 28. He also took the field in team drills primarily when the Patriots went to 11 personnel using three wideouts, a running back and a tight end.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Harry didn't have the most shining reports about his spring either, so it's fair to say that he has some work to do have redraft relevance early in the season. He isn't gaining steam in redraft leagues right now.

IND - Minor issue for WR Parris Campbell

Source: The Athletic - Zak Keefer

Indianapolis Colts WR Parris Campbell (hamstring) suffered a minor hamstring injury near the end of practice Sunday, July 28, according to head coach Frank Reich.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Campbell has been having a great camp and exceeding expectations. He should be moving up our boards, assuming this is truly a minor injury that will only require a short absence.

              Wednesday Update

CIN - WR A.J. Green to miss regular-season games

              Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (ankle) is expected to miss multiple regular-season games after head coach Zac Taylor revealed to reporters Tuesday, July 30, that doctors 'realized it's going to be a little bit longer (than initially expected).'

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This contradicts earlier reports that said he should still be available in Week 1. That always seemed a bit too optimistic since Green underwent ankle surgery. Some are saying that Green had a 'cleanup' procedure on his injured ankle although that's odd given he had ligament damage. Expect Green's ADP to fall from his current spot of WR15 (4.01) in 12-team PPR leagues.

IND - Surgery not likely for QB Andrew Luck

              Source: ESPN.com - Mike Wells

Updating previous reports, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (calf) will miss a couple of training-camp practices as he deals with a nagging calf strain, but Luck said Tuesday, July 30, that surgery hasn't been discussed. 'The nature of it is a calf strain,' Luck said. 'I say lower leg because I feel pain in my ankle area. I've had images and X-rays and everything, and my Achilles is not at extra risk. There (are) no tears or swelling or anything that's indicated.'

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're far from panicked, but on the other hand, keep an eye on this one. No matter what Luck says, the team will have to be extra cautious. He is a secretive player, so we wouldn't expect him to divulge if his Achilles was in danger or damaged.

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry (calf) is wearing a walking boot while recovering from a strained calf muscle that is expected to sideline him about two weeks, a source said Tuesday, July 30. The injury is not considered serious, and the team is playing it cautious.

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Calf injuries can be tricky, so we'll want to see him go full speed in practice, if not in a preseason game, before putting him back at his ranking within his tier that he had going into camp. It's good to have some specific information about the injury.

ARI - QB Kyler Murray already commanding offense

              Source: Around The NFL

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray already has a full understanding of the offense he's expected to lead from Week 1 of the 2019 NFL season, according to teammate WR Larry Fitzgerald. 'I've never seen a quarterback come in so quickly and be able to command an offense,' Fitzgerald said. 'I mean, from Day 1, he's out there checking the different plays, sliding the line, different protections, getting us in screens when blitzes are coming. His understanding of the offense is crazy. 'I think that's going to give us a great advantage, to play fast from the first preseason game all the way to the start of the regular season and giving him the keys to the car and letting him is going to be great for us.'

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Murray has made some great plays in drills during training camp. We're excited to see the No. 1 overall pick from day one, and Fantasy GMs know there's value there. He has a current ADP of QB9 (8.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.

MIA - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has early edge

              Source: ESPN.com - Cameron Wolfe

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has the early edge over Josh Rosen in the battle to start at quarterback, head coach Brian Flores said Tuesday, July 30. 'It's pretty clear to me that Ryan Fitzpatrick is leading the way,' Flores said. 'He's done that in a lot of areas, from leadership to production on the field to the meeting rooms to the walk-throughs. This is an ongoing competition, but right now he's leading the way.'

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fitzpatrick can support multiple fantasy relevant receivers with his aggressive approach, so this is good news for Kenny Stills, Albert Wilson, and DeVante Parker. Fitzpatrick could even be a viable DFS GPP play in the right matchup.

This is normal for a player of Jones stature at this point in his career. As long as he can practice at some point before the season, there's no reason to push down his ranking.

HOU - Houston claiming No. 2 RB job up for grabs

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman is reportedly part of a 'wide-open' competition for the backup job behind Lamar Miller, according is made by head coach Bill O'Brien.

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Foreman isn't exactly seizing the RB2 job in Houston. While this is good news for Lamar Miller's stock as the clear lead back, it could induce the team into dealing for a back or at least adding one of the biggest names to be released at final cutdowns. The Houston backfield is far from settled, but Miller looks like he'll return value on his very modest ADP.

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There's no reason to see this as a long term issue as long as Williams returns to practice without incident soon. For now, we wait for that event before returning to our previous stances on Williams' value. If you are drafting right now, it's reasonable to move him down within his tier.

Morris has experience with the team and they are carrying a lot of inexperienced players at running back. He's probably there more to soak up reps while Ezekiel Elliott is out than threaten for a regular season spot, but you never know.

TB - Ronald Jones, RB Peyton Barber in tight competition

Source: The Athletic - Greg Auman

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RBs Ronald Jones and Peyton Barber will have a good battle for regular-season playing time this preseason, according to new head coach Bruce Arians.

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Both backs are going to get touches in 2019. Barber is the safer play at running back for the Buccaneers as he has a solid all-around skill set. However, Jones has incredible upside if he plays up to his potential. Jones has plenty of speed to burn and can get by defenders quickly. His rookie season in 2018 was a disappointment, so we're anxious to see if Jones can look better this year.

This was the plan all along. Brown has been working his way back from Lisfranc surgery and was always going to get going at some point in training camp. He's a super explosive player and we're excited to see what kind of connection he can build with Lamar Jackson in 2019.

New York Jets WR Jamison Crowder (foot, ankle) is expected to practice Wednesday, July 31, after he was medically cleared Tuesday, July 30.

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is the best possible news after he had an MRI earlier this week. Crowder has had injury issues the last two years that have limited his productivity, but this one will go down as a scare. He's still on the fringe of redraft radar, but his presence could help this whole offense take a step forward this year.

PHI - RB Miles Sanders taking advantage of chances

              Source: 1 No Source

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders has 'looked the part when given the chance' and 'looked natural catching the ball,' according to NJ.com's Mike Kaye. Sanders missed most of the team's spring workouts with a hamstring injury.

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Eagles are likely to take it slower with their rookies than most teams, but Sanders is getting the kind of praise that we want to hear if we expect a rookie to take over by season's end. Jordan Howard's star is dimming with each of these reports, and Sanders is becoming more intriguing in redraft leagues.

Hurd has some running back potential too, so we will be watching how much Shanahan makes of that application. For now this is certainly better news than if he wasn't getting time with the ones, but we will heed Shanahan's words about the meaning of it.

Cleveland Browns WR Antonio Callaway has been working consistently with the second-team offense in training camp, according to Scott Patsko of Cleveland.com. WRs Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry and Rashard Higgins have been playing the majority of first-team reps. Derrick Willies and Jaelen Strong filled in for an injured Beckham on Monday.

Higgins is more technically sound than Callaway at this point. Callaway has more speed and explosiveness but right now he's No. 4 on the depth chart.

Ballage has been getting plenty of hype as the potential lead back in the Dolphins offense this year. He's a big-bodied back who does not run with as much power as you'd think. Ballage is a better receiver out of the backfield than he showed last year and is in a competition with Kenyan Drake for the top spot on the depth chart. No matter who wins the job, the Dolphins should use a RBBC in 2019.

Miami Dolphins RBs Kenyan Drake and Kalen Ballage could possibly end up playing similar roles to James White and Sony Michel, respectively, under new offensive coordinator Chad O'Shea in 2019. ESPN's Cameron Wolfe made an early touch split prediction of 45/40/15 for the Dolphins' backs, with Ballage on the high end of that, followed by Drake and then a combination of the other Miami backs after that.

That sounds about right. Ballage is getting a lot of pub and hype during training camp for the Dolphins. He's a larger back and good as a receiver out of the backfield. Drake has speed and moves but the team seems intent only on using him as a committee back.

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon's agent, Damarius Bilbo, said Thursday, Aug. 1, he has requested that the Chargers explore trading Gordon. General manager Tom Telesco told Bilbo that Gordon is still highly valued by the team, and the agent was not given permission to seek any trade partners.

NYJ - Le'Veon Bell draws praise

Source: ESPN - Dianna Marie Russini

New York Jets RB Le'Veon Bell was praised Thursday, Aug. 1, by head coach Adam Gase. 'LeVeon Bell picks things up so fast...he has done some of the stuff we do in the passing game,' Gase said. 'He looks like a running back...you go thats what a RB is supposed to look like that. He is one of the best, if not the best running back in the league.'

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bell is not the same back he used to be but Fantasy GMs are excited to see him back in action and are picking him up around the end of the first round. Gase is known for splitting running back duties but Bell can do it all and rarely needs to come off the field. If healthy, Bell should post RB1 numbers for Fantasy GMs in 2019.

                    Source: WFNZ 610AM

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton has been working on tweaking his throwing motion and making other changes to his routine to better his chances of remaining healthy. 'It's still a work in progress,' Newton said Thursday, Aug. 1. 'One thing I wanted to work on was just being honest with myself. Knowing when to sit out of practice and working on my body. I'm as hungry as ever. But guys that are on board on offense need me to be my best self.'

Newton's new throwing motion is more compact and hopefully going to cut down on the torque with his shoulder when he throws. He's been working on changing it all offseason long and he's in the process of getting better with the new motion.

MIN - QB Kirk Cousins learning to trust his TE

                    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins said Wednesday, July 31, he's feeling much more confident working with TE Kyle Rudolph in their second training camp together. 'I've done a better job this camp ... of just trusting him more and throwing it to him even when he's covered,' Cousins told reporters Wednesday. 'I think today there were probably two or three examples of him catching the ball with the defender draped over him or pretty close to him. He is just such a trustworthy target, so little things like that, building a chemistry with him, you would've loved to say I did that last year, but I don't think I did enough.'

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rudolph may not be flashy, but he's one of the most consistent tight ends in the league. His current ADP (TE19, 14.01) is something he could easily outperform. Rudolph is not a high-end TE1 but posting low-end TE1 numbers is quite possible again..especially with better chemistry with Cousins.

Kendricks left practice early on Wednesday, but nobody knows what the injury is for the veteran tight end. Another injury at the position is about the last thing the Patriots need. We'll see if they make a move at the position during camp or if they're going to be happy with the players they have on the roster.

New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas, who on Wednesday, July 31, signed a lucrative second contract, told general manager Mikey Loomis that he plans to sign a third contract with the Saints. 'After I signed that deal I told Mickey I'll be back to do a third deal,' Thomas said. 'Now it's on to the next goal. You're now the highest-paid, now you've got to go earn it. BAL - QB Lamar Jackson to limit running?

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson told 'The Rich Eisen Show' on Thursday, Aug. 1, that he doesn't expect to carry the ball as much as during his rookie season when he set the NFL single-season record in 2018 for rushing attempts by a quarterback with 147 despite not making his first start until Week 11.'I don't think I'll be running as much as I did last year. There were a lot of (run-pass options) and a lot of sudden changes in last year's game. This will be totally different,' Jackson said.

Jackson can still make up for a drop in rushing attempts per game with better pass efficiency and more pass attempts. He's still one of the best quarterbacks to target outside of the top ten.

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray said he is feeling comfortable overall but added he is still adjusting to the speed of the NFL game. 'I think that's probably one of the biggest adjustments is windows are tighter,' Murray said Thursday, Aug. 1. 'You got to anticipate things a lot more. But that makes it fun. College, you know, dudes would be wide open. It'd be really easy stuff like that. It's part of being in the NFL.'

This is something Murray can really only adjust to on the job in the regular season, although defenses will also have to adjust to him. This will be one of the best stories to watch this season to see who has the upper hand and how it changes over the course of the year.

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos RB Theo Riddick signed a one-year contract with the Broncos worth $2.5 million. The deal also includes $1 million in guaranteed money and could be worth as much as $3.3 million with incentives.

                        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Riddick is a sure thing to make the roster with this contract, and Devontae Booker is likely gone soon enough. This takes the edge off of Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman's upside and turns this into a three-headed backfield.

Free-agent TE Wes Saxton (49ers) and undrafted free-agent TE Jackson Harris (Georgia) signed with the Seattle Seahawks Saturday, Aug. 3. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed. The team also waived/injured TEs Tyrone Swoopes (undisclosed) and Justin Johnson (Achilles).

                        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Seahawks have a rather ho-hum group of tight ends from top to bottom. Will Dissly and Nick Vannett should be the leading players in the group and neither are great fantasy assets. We'll see if someone can emerge.

CIN - WR John Ross day-to-day

                        Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (hamstring) is listed as day-to-day because of a hamstring issue, according to head coach Zac Taylor.

                        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ross has talent, speed and a nose for the end zone. He also has a long history of getting banged up. It's a make-or-break year for Ross and we'd like to see him healthy and injury-free for a full season.

Indianapolis Colts RB Jordan Wilkins (undisclosed) missed his second straight practice Friday, Aug. 2.

                        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wilkins is a talented back who is in the mix behind Marlon Mack. If Mack gets banged up this year, Wilkins could take over as a lead ball-carrier working with Nyheim Hines in a RBBC.

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has the early edge over Josh Rosen in the battle to start at quarterback, head coach Brian Flores said Tuesday, July 30. 'It's pretty clear to me that Ryan Fitzpatrickis leading the way,' Flores said. 'He's done that in a lot of areas, from leadership to production on the field to the meeting rooms to the walk-throughs. This is an ongoing competition, but right now he's leading the way.'

Fitzpatrick can support multiple fantasy relevant receivers with his aggressive approach, so this is good news for Kenny Stills, Albert Wilson, and DeVante Parker. Fitzpatrick could even be a viable DFS GPP play in the right matchup.

You know what you have with Fitz , you have to put in Rosen and see what he can do imo .
Fitztragic is like the turd that just won't flush. Why go to the trouble of getting Rosen if they're not going to play him? Must be early August.

I think it’s good that they have a QB competition. Can’t just give the job to Rosen.

Gordon and his agent are idiots, chargers offering 10 mil/per which is about all I think he is worth...He is not an elite back, he is very good but not in the elite class. Hopefully the Chargers can trade him for a lot and wash their hands of him.

i guess they figure he's only got one good contract left before he's used up. unfortunately i think these guys saw what lev. bell did and they all think they will do the same (and get the big contract as bell did).

as a Chargers fan, if he is not willing to take 10 mil/per and calls that offer "insulting", trade his ass and ship him off before the season starts to avoid distraction. I feel like the offer is more than fair in this case for a very good yet injury prone player. Another factor I see is that Gordon does not shy away from contact, he looks for it, and that will make his career shorter than the average running back...no way I'd sign him for more than 3 years given that.

They should put Gordon on the trade market to see what they can get for him. If not, re sign him.

he does not want to sign for 10 million/per...The Chargers feel like that is a more than fair offer for a B level running back and i tend to agree with them in this case. He is insulted by the offer so get him the fukk outta dodge.
