Broncos | C.J. Anderson will be at workouts

Patriots | Rob Gronkowski still thinking retirement?
New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski still is considering whether to play the upcoming 2018 season, and a team source said Gronkowski and the Patriots are keeping in touch.
Lions | Ameer Abdullah on the block?
Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah would presumably be the easiest running back to move from the roster this offseason because he's in the final season of his rookie contract and his role appears to be less defined than LeGarrette Blount's or Theo Riddick's, according to ESPN's Michael Rothstein.
Patriots | Pair of NE stars to skip start of offseason
New England Patriots QB Tom Brady and TE Rob Gronkowski will not attend the start of the team's offseason program Monday, April 16, according to a source.
Chiefs | KC adds Kerwynn Williams to backfield
Free-agent RB Kerwynn Williams (Cardinals) signed an undisclosed one-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, April 15.
Footballguys view: Williams has starting experience to add valuable depth behind Kareem Hunt. He's an explosive back who is a threat to score anytime he touches the ball. Williams could see the field as a change-of-pace back behind Hunt in 2018.

Browns | Josh Gordon signs tender
Cleveland Browns exclusive rights free-agent WR Josh Gordon signed his tender Monday, April 16.
Footballguys view: Gordon will be a restricted free agent in 2019 and the Browns could sign him to a long-term deal sometime later this year. The veteran receiver needs to have a controversy free (and productive) 2018 season if he wants that new contract. |
Saints | Willie Snead reports
New Orleans Saints restricted free-agent WR Willie Snead will report for workouts Monday, April 16, but he hasn't signed his tender yet.
Footballguys view: As a restricted free agent, Snead has until April 20th to sign his tender. The Saints just plucked RFA Cameron Meredith from the Bears last week, and that has clouded the future of Snead in New Orleans. They placed an original round tender on Snead, so the Saints can match any offer he gets but they would receive no compensation if the veteran receiver left in free agency. |
Broncos | Baker Mayfield to visit Denver
Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield will fly to meet the Denver Broncos Monday, April 16.
Footballguys view: Mayfield is going to have dinner with the Broncos on Monday night, then he'll visit the team facility on Tuesday. The Broncos have the no.5 overall pick, and they've expressed a clear interest in the Sooners quarterback. He is most like Broncos starter Case Keenum than any other quarterback in this class. |
Giants | Josh Allen to visit Giants
Wyoming QB Josh Allen will visit the New York Giants Tuesday, April 17.
Footballguys view: Allen has a rocket arm and is mobile enough to hurt a defense with his legs when the play breaks down. His 56.0 percent accuracy in college is his biggest concern. Through the pre-draft process, Allen has shown improved footwork and the willingness to work through any problem he may have with his technique. |
Giants | Sam Darnold visiting Giants
USC QB Sam Darnold is visiting the New York Giants Monday, April 16.
Footballguys view: Reports are swirling that the Giants love Darnold and are targeting him at no.2 overall in the 2018 NFL draft. Darnold is only 20 years old but is seen as a high-floor prospect with an unknown amount of potential. He could use some time to further develop his skill set, and the Giants could draft Darnold with the plan that he could eventually take over for Eli Manning in the future. |
Jets | Teddy Bridgewater should throw this spring
New York Jets coach Todd Bowles believes QB Teddy Bridgewater should throw at some point this spring, but it is hard to tell how much he will take part in offseason workouts.
Footballguys view: The Jets have no need to push Bridgewater as he continues to recover from his knee injury. He signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Jets earlier this offseason and Bridgewater should be in the mix as a reserve quarterback. Josh McCown is set to start but we should see the Jets select a quarterback (Baker Mayfield?) at no.3 overall. |
Titans | More big plays for Marcus Mariota?
Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota is going to have more chances to make throws down the field this season, according to offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur.
Footballguys view: LaFleur is one of the brightest up-and-coming coaches in the NFL. He's worked with both Sean McVay (Rams) and Kyle Shanahan (49ers) during his time as an assistant and now gets to be an OC for the first time in his career. LaFleur could unlock the potential that Mariota has flashed during his time in the pros...and fantasy owners could see him make the jump to a low-end QB1 in 2018. |
Broncos | C.J. Anderson will be at workouts
Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson said he will be at the start of the offseason workout program Monday, April 16, and he is using the rumors that he was being traded as motivation.
Footballguys view: Anderson has always been motivated by how much the team loves him. He used that as motivation to rush for over 1,000 yards for the first time in his career last season. Anderson is not safe by any stretch as the Broncos could be in line to select Saquon Barkley with the no.5 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft. If they select a running back with a premium pick, the Broncos could move Anderson in a trade or outright release him...saving his total $4.5 million salary in the process. |
Patriots | Rob Gronkowski still thinking retirement?
New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski still is considering whether to play the upcoming 2018 season, and a team source said Gronkowski and the Patriots are keeping in touch.
Footballguys view: Gronkowski was talking retirement last season according to reports and he failed to clarify his future intentions at the Super Bowl back in February. He should be leaning towards playing again, and reports indicate that any tension between Gronkowski and head coach Bill Belichick will subside when the veteran fully commits to the game again. |
Footballguys view: Abdullah's pro career has been set back by inconsistency and injury. Too small to be a feature back, Abdullah has had his chance to prove himself as such and failed. The Lions have LeGarrette Blount to carry a heavy load and many expect them to select a RB in this talent rich 2018 draft class. Detroit should not expect much in return if they do get any takers for Abdullah. |
Patriots | Pair of NE stars to skip start of offseason
New England Patriots QB Tom Brady and TE Rob Gronkowski will not attend the start of the team's offseason program Monday, April 16, according to a source.
Footballguys view: Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Gronkowski is still considering whether to play in 2018, although he has 'good communication' with the team, according to a source. |
