HOU - Houston wants to manage RB Lamar Miller better

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller carried a career-high 268 times for 1,073 yards and five touchdowns in 2016. While head coach Bill O'Brien won't rule out a repeat performance, he acknowledged during the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine the team wants to be smart about managing his workload, especially early in the season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller should be in for another 1,000 yard season this year. The Texans are built to make a deep postseason run if they can just get average QB play. We're likely to see rookie first-round pick DeShaun Watson as their starter at some point in 2017...maybe even Week 1.

NYJ - WR Eric Decker release looking less likely

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (hip, shoulder) is still a candidate to be a post-June 1 cut, but ESPN's Rich Cimini would be 'surprised' if the team ends up cutting him.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brandon Marshall is playing for the Giants this year, so Decker is going to be the top target for the Jets passing game. He's coming off hip and shoulder surgeries, but Decker should be good to go around training camp. Even in what should be a fairly anemic passing game, Decker has fantasy value as a WR3/flex option. His current ADP reflects the Jets potential offensive woes at WR36 (8.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.

MIN - Dalvin Cook makes early impression

Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - Chris Tomasson

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook has impressed head coach Mike Zimmer during rookie minicamp. 'He showed acceleration, good feet, good vision, a lot of the same things we saw on tape,' Zimmer said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cook should be making a positive impression, so long as he holds onto the rock and stays healthy. As a runner, Cook has good vision outside of the tackles and burst to make plays in a little amount of space. Injuries, fumbling problems and off-field concerns caused him to fall in the 2017 NFL draft. If he stays on the right track, Cook could make an immediate impact for the Vikings offense. His current ADP is RB48 (10.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.

TEN - TE Delanie Walker to teach Jonnu Smith

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker said he expects TE Jonnu Smith to be a sponge and believes Smith will have an opportunity to contribute and play.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A third-round pick from Florida International, Smith was often compared to Walker by those in the scouting community. He's super athletic and can rip the seam down the middle of the field. Smith is a move tight end at the pro level, but he needs to play with better concentration in order to play up to his potential.

NO - WR Willie Snead still has not signed

Source: The Times-Picayune - Josh Katzenstein

New Orleans Saints exclusive rights free-agent WR Willie Snead still has not signed his tender offer but is not allowed to sign with another team.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Snead doesn't really have a choice as an ERFA. He can either play for the Saints or retire from football. He's hoping the Saints make a move to sign him to a contract extension that pays him a more appropriate wage for what he brings to the team. They'll need Snead more than ever since Brandin Cooks was traded to the Patriots.

NE - WR Michael Floyd will not return to Pats

    Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

Free-agent WR Michael Floyd (Patriots) will not be re-signing with the New England Patriots this offseason, according to ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Patriots made the move to add Brandin Cooks via free agency, so they don't have any room to take another flier on Floyd like they did last year. Floyd didn't do much of anything for the Patriots last year and was mostly inactive as they made their run to a championship. Only Washington and the Vikings have shown interest in Floyd this offseason.

CIN - John Ross, Carl Lawson sign rookie deals

    Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Cincinnati Bengals first-round WR John Ross and third-round DE Carl Lawson signed their four-year rookie contracts Sunday, May 7.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ross reminds us of WR DeSean Jackson (Buccaneers) due to his speed and ability to basically teleport down the field. The speedster from Washington is currently recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, but he should be ready to go sometime around training camp. Ross gives the team much-needed speed opposite A.J. Green.

NYJ - ArDarius Stewart makes early impression

Source: NJ Advance Media - Connor Hughes

New York Jets rookie WR ArDarius Stewart had a good couple of days of practice and is the most pro-ready receiver of the wideouts who participated in rookie minicamp this week, according to NJ Advance Media's Connor Hughes.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stewart has a ton of fight in his game. He competes for everything...through the release, the route and the catch point. Stewart can work short routes and excel with his run-after-the-catch ability. However, he can also go long and track passes over his shoulder. Stewart is one of our favorite rookie WRs from this class, and he's drawn comparisons to Chris Hogan (Patriots).

NYJ - Jordan Leggett a work in progress

Source: NJ Advance Media - Connor Hughes

New York Jets TE Jordan Leggett 'needs some work,' according to NJ Advance Media's Connor Hughes, who observed the rookie struggled with technique, route-running and drops in the two practices open to the media last week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Leggett had a nickname in college of 'Lazy Leggett' and has admitted to being lazy in the past. His motor needs work if he's going to pay off at the pro level. Leggett has great size (6'5" 258 pounds) and has played big in the brightest moments. He's got great upside in the NFL, but Leggett does need more work than some think.

TB - Chris Godwin struggles with drops

    Source: PewterReport.com - Trevor Sikkema

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin struggled with drops during drills at rookie minicamp Friday, May 5, and he admitted afterwards to being nervous.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Godwin is the type of player who can make dynamic catches above the rim. He's also known to drop too many easy passes. That looks like something that's followed him to the pros. As he gets less nervous with more experience, we expect Godwin to impress. He's a dynasty prospect we're monitoring closely.

DAL - TE Rico Gathers to have a role?

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys TE Rico Gathers should make the 53-man roster, according to Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News, and Machota believes Gathers can be used to create mismatches in the red zone.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gathers was a basketball star in college at Baylor, but the Cowboys liked his upside enough they took him in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL draft. Jason Witten has to be winding down his pro career, so Gathers is an interesting developmental prospect to add or monitor in dynasty leagues.

        Tuesday Update

CAR - WR Kelvin Benjamin trying to shape up

Source: The Charlotte Observer - Joseph Person

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin has been receiving extra treatment at the Panthers' facility for purposes of general fitness and well-being, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There was a big hullabaloo last week when Benjamin showed up to offseason workouts out of shape. There's plenty of time for him to get his conditioning right before the start of the regular season. Benjamin didn't have the bounce-back year some were expecting last year after missing all of 2015. There's a chance Benjamin could do that this year, and the team already picked up his option for 2018.

KC - QB Alex Smith was consulted before draft

        Source: FOXSports.com - Peter Schrager

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith spoke to Chiefs management twice before the team selected QB Patrick Mahomes in the 2017 NFL draft, according to general manager John Dorsey.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chiefs kept Smith in the loop, but they drafted Mahomes to eventually replace the veteran. We think Mahomes sits and learns this year behind Smith. After the 2017 season, all of Smith's guaranteed money has been paid. We could see Mahomes take over in a year.

CIN - OC loves what Joe Mixon can do

        Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Ken Zampese said he is excited about everything RB Joe Mixon brings to the offense. 'I think he has a very, very bright future,' Zampese said.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mixon has big-play ability every time he touches the ball. He's got patience, burst, power and speed as a runner. Mixon does a good job of allowing his blocks to develop, and he'll set up defenders at the second level while he's still in the backfield. In addition to his hard-charging style as a runner, Mixon can be used effectively as a receiver out of the backfield.

DAL - Noah Brown the next WR Dez Bryant?

        Source: DallasCowboys.com - Bryan Broaddus

Dallas Cowboys WR Noah Brown is the same type of player as WR Dez Bryant, according to Bryan Broaddus of DallasCowboys.com, and Broaddus said Brown is a 'nasty blocker' with a big catch radius.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The seventh-round pick from Ohio State is a bit of an unknown because of his lack of experience at the college level (only targeted 52 times with 33 catches for the Buckeyes). He's big, got a large wingspan, can track passes over his shoulder and can win on jump passes. Brown can be worked into a larger role eventually, but for now he just gives the Cowboys depth at the position. Keep an eye on him in dynasty leagues.

KC - Patrick Mahomes hitting the books

Source: The Kansas City Star - Terez A. Paylor

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes said he studied his playbook all night when he received it Friday, May 5, and head coach Andy Reid said the toughest part of Mahomes' transition to the NFL will be 'getting the verbiage down and the formations' for the offense.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mahomes has a robust system to learn, but he's got time as most expect him to sit a year behind Alex Smith. The gunslinger from Texas Tech is in a perfect system for his skill set, and Reid should be able to craft an exciting offense around his young passer. Mahomes has supreme confidence in his ability, and the Chiefs potentially have a franchise quarterback in the making.

KC - Jehu Chesson a red zone weapon?

Source: The Kansas City Star - Terez A. Paylor

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jehu Chesson said his mentality is to 'win when the ball is in the air,' and he expects to catch plenty of deep passes and jump balls in the red zone.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Chesson has great 'my ball' mentality, and that's something that could help him shine in the red zone. He's got the size (6'3" 204 pounds) to help him box out defenders near pay dirt. Chesson also has the athletic ability to contort his body in order to make difficult catches. He's not a burner by any means, and his route running needs work but there are ways to get production out of the rookie from Michigan.

ARI - Arizona works out QB Blaine Gabbert

        Source: ESPN.com - Dan Graziano

Free-agent QB Blaine Gabbert (49ers) worked out for the Arizona Cardinals Thursday, May 4.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The connection between the Cardinals and Gabbert has been there for some time. They didn't add a quarterback in the 2017 NFL draft, so perhaps they'd add Gabbert to compete with Drew Stanton to be the primary backup behind Carson Palmer.

BAL - RB Terrance West signs tender

Source: SiriusXM Radio - Adam Caplan

Baltimore Ravens restricted free-agent RB Terrance West signed his tender offer Monday, May 8. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

West is atop the Ravens depth chart at the running back position, but he'll face competition for that spot when Kenneth Dixon returns from his four-game suspension. Fantasy owners currently see West as RB59 (13.06) in 12-team PPR leagues. If he can hang onto the starting job, he should be able to outperform that average draft position.

SEA - Seattle claims RB Mike Davis

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

The Seattle Seahawks claimed RB Mike Davis off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers Monday, May 8.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

These two teams (49ers, Seahawks) love to plunder from each other's roster. Davis couldn't make it with the 49ers, but in college at South Carolina he showed some skill. A fourth-round pick in 2015, Davis will be hard pressed to make the final roster with Seattle as their full of talent at the position.

CIN - John Ross contract details

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross's deal is four years in length and worth $17.1 million. It includes a $10.6 million signing bonus. The Bengals will pay him his entire 2017 base salary if he is not on the Non-Football Injury list.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ross is currently recovering from shoulder surgery he underwent after the 2017 Scouting Combine. The speedster from Washington reminds us of DeSean Jackson (Buccaneers) as he can flat out fly. Ross will compete with Brandon LaFell for the no.2 WR job opposite superstar A.J. Green.

BUF - Buffalo hires Brandon Beane

            Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Former Carolina Panthers assistant general manager Brandon Beane was hired as the new general manager of the Buffalo Bills Tuesday, May 9.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beane will work closely with new Bills head coach Sean McDermott. The two crossed paths previously with the Panthers, so they have a prior working relationship. McDermott is the new sheriff in town, and Beane will be there to be his new deputy.

KC - RB Spencer Ware still likely to start

            Source: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware is likely to start and see the majority of the work as the featured back, in the opinion of beat writer Adam Teicher.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chiefs added talent to the backfield when Kareem Hunt (Toledo) was drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft. Hunt is a big back with good vision and a compact frame that makes him tough to bring down. Ware has the experience advantage, and he's likely to be the starter at the beginning of the season. We could see Hunt make a run at the starting job later in the year. Charcandrick West and C.J. Spiller will likely work as change-of-pace backs.

DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott working on one aspect

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott said he is working on 'becoming a more dominant second-level runner' heading into his second season. 'I think there were a couple times last season where I could've been (better) on certain runs when I got to the second level,' he added. 'So just kinda focused on finishing my runs and making guys miss at the second level.'

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Elliott was already a player known for breaking off big runs in his rookie season. He had 14 runs of 20 yards or more in 2016, a mark that led the league. Teams are going to stack the box to try and stop him once more, so Elliott should be able to take advantage of those looks once again this year. He's an option to be selected with the first pick in fantasy drafts. His current ADP is 1.03 (RB3) in 12-team PPR leagues with the only backs ahead of him being Le'Veon Bell and David Johnson.

NYG - QB Geno Smith good to go

            Source: NJ.com - Jordan Raanan

New York Giants QB Geno Smith (knee) said he's 100 percent healthy and believes he would be fully cleared to play if he had to.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith will compete as the backup behind Eli Manning this year. His main competition will be rookie Davis Webb. The Giants selected Webb in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft with the hopes that he can develop into an eventual starter.

HOU - QB Tom Savage hungry to remain starting QB

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans QB Tom Savage said 'it doesn't matter if a coach says you're the starter' and that he will go out there and 'play like I have to play to keep this job.' He added: 'You have to perform. I know that, and that's the attitude I have.'

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Savage has a big arm, but he struggles with accuracy, timing and touch. He'll have to keep 2017 first-round pick DeShaun Watson at bay if he wants to be the starter. Watson is the future franchise quarterback, and we think the team will want to get him in the lineup sooner rather than later.

IND - High praise for WR Donte Moncrief

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Zak Keefer

Indianapolis Colts WR Donte Moncrief has already caught the eye of new wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal. Lal said Moncrief is a 'piece of clay' that has all the tools to be one of the better receivers in the NFL.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A third-round pick in 2014, Moncrief is entering his contract year in 2017. He was disappointing last year, playing only nine games and gathering in just 30 catches for 307 yards. Moncrief did score seven touchdowns, so with more catches and yards he could be a improved fantasy player. He's going off the board at WR30 (6.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

            11. BAL - RB Terrance West contract update

            Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

West is the lead back for the Ravens...at least while Kenneth Dixon is suspended the first four games of the season. It will be interesting to see how the Ravens backfield shakes out, especially with Danny Woodhead added to the mix this offseason.

MIN - Minnesota adding WR Michael Floyd

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free-agent WR Michael Floyd (Patriots) agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings Wednesday, May 10, according to sources. The deal is worth $1.5 million, but Floyd could make as much as $6 million based on incentives.

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Vikings were the only team interested in Floyd this offseason after his brief stint with the Patriots last year. Floyd will not be able to report to the team until June as he's still under house arrest for his DUI. He's from St. Paul Minnesota, so perhaps going home will be the fresh start he needs after a tumultuous 2016. Floyd is not a lock for the 53-man roster.

ARI - QB Blaine Gabbert signing with Arizona

              Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent QB Blaine Gabbert (49ers) agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals Wednesday, May 10, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cardinals have been linked to Gabbert for some time. He'll compete with Drew Stanton to be the primary backup behind Carson Palmer in 2017. We're not expecting him to rejuvenate his career in the desert, but having Bruce Arians tutor him could do Gabbert a world of good.

NE - Pats give RB LeGarrette Blount tender offer

              Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

Free-agent RB LeGarrette Blount (Patriots) received a one-year, $1.1 million tender offer from the New England Patriots before the May 9 deadline that affects compensatory picks, according to a source. The Patriots would receive help in their chances for a compensatory pick if Blount signs with another team.

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is a rarely used tender, but it breaks down as follows: If he signs with the Patriots, Blount can get $1.1 million this year. If he signs elsewhere before July 22, the departure will count toward New England’s compensatory draft picks. After July 22, he can only sign with the Patriots for 2017.

ARI - WR Andre Ellington receiving praise

              Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals WR Andre Ellington is getting more comfortable with the nuances of being a receiver and has the fluidity and ability to run routes with the right angle and bend, according to QB Carson Palmer.

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ellington is making the transition from the backfield to wide receiver in 2017. He's got the speed and the quickness to be dangerous in open space, but Ellington will need to get the nuances of running routes down before he's able to excel at his new position.

CLE - RB Isaiah Crowell signs tender

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Cleveland Browns restricted free-agent RB Isaiah Crowell signed his one-year tender offer Wednesday, May 10. Financial terms were not disclosed.

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Reports indicate a few teams were interested in Crowell, but he was tendered at the second-round level...and no team was willing to pay that price if they signed him away from the Browns. He's back with the team to be their lead back in 2017, and Crowell could be in line for the first 1,000 yard season of his career. JAX - Dede Westbrook may be slot receiver

              Source: ESPN.com - Mike DiRocco

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Dede Westbrook will compete with WR Rashad Greene for the slot receiver job as well as the punt returner role.

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We see that as his most likely spot within the Jaguars offense. With Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns playing outside, Westbrook can work the underneath routes over the middle of the field. Westbrook is quick and can change directions on a dime, making him a nightmare for corners trying to cover him.

DEN - Chad Kelly agrees to terms

              Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos seventh-round draft choice QB Chad Kelly agreed to terms on a four-year deal with the Broncos Wednesday, May 10. Kelly is expected to receive a signing bonus of nearly $65,000 but other financial terms were not disclosed.

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The last player chosen in the 2017 NFL draft, Kelly is the most talented "Mr. Irrelevant" in league history. Injuries should sideline him this year (knee, wrist, groin), but Kelly has the talent to be a starter in the NFL....if he can stay healthy and stay out of trouble. Off field issues and character concerns caused Kelly to fall in the draft (in addition to his injuries), but there's no denying the talent he has as a passer. Kelly is confident, accurate and can make every throw. If Paxton Lynch (or Trevor Siemian) doesn't really impress this year, it could open the door for Kelly in 2018.

              14. SEA - WR Jermaine Kearse unlikely to be cut

              Source: ESPN.com - Sheil Kapadia

Seattle Seahawks WR Jermaine Kearse may be a potential cap casualty in 2018, but ESPN's Sheil Kapadia considers the possibility of him being released this off-season 'slim' as the team seems to value him more than people on the outside.

              [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kearse has a $4 million cap hit in 2017, and there's still $3.6 million left in dead money on the deal. Those numbers alone show that Kearse should remain with the Seahawks for at least one more season. He is signed through 2018, but they could get out of his deal next offseason with little left in dead cap.

CLE - WR Josh Gordon's reinstatement denied

Source: USA TODAY Sports - Tom Pelissero

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon's reinstatement petition was denied Thursday, May 11. He can reapply this fall.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gordon applied for reinstatement in March, but the league is not going to let him in just yet if at all. He needs to show that he's serious about getting back to the field if he wants to play in the NFL again. Gordon hasn't been a fantasy factor since 2013...and he's unlikely to ever get back to that level even if he's reinstated at some point.

MIA - RB Jay Ajayi to see a lot of work

                  Source: Sun-Sentinel - Omar Kelly

Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi could see 22 to 25 carries per game this year, according to head coach Adam Gase. 'He needs to feel it out a little bit,' Gase said.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There's not much else behind him to challenge Ajayi, which is good for Fantasy GMs who have him, but last season kicked things off with minimal impact from the former Boise State runner as he was on the bench and playing behind Arian Foster. We'll see how he responds this year knowing that he's 'the man' from day one. Further, for all the 200 yard games he had, Ajayi had a few average games as well. Consistency is something we need to see from him this year.

                  Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano

New York Jets WR Quincy Enunwa believes he's going to have 'an opportunity to do a lot more than he was able to do last year', and SNY's Ralph Vacchiano suggests the 24-year-old may be the team's top receiving option if WR Eric Decker can't make it all the way back from hip and shoulder surgery.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Enunwa is the Jets top option in the passing game...not named Eric Decker. If Decker is limited by injury, then we could see more from Enunwa than expected. He presents a value play as a late-round pick in your fantasy drafts. Enunwa has a current ADP of WR72 (14.03) in 12-team PPR leagues.

MIN - Minnesota expecting committee backfield

Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Andrew Krammer

Minnesota Vikings RBs Latavius Murray and Dalvin Cook are expected to engage in a 'heated competition' and, eventually, forge an established committee to replace Adrian Peterson, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune's Andrew Krammer.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cook is the more naturally talented runner and receiver out of the backfield, but the Vikings made an investment in Murray in free agency. They paid him a three-year, $15 million contract earlier this year then went out and moved up to select Cook in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft. Murray is likely to be second fiddle in this RBBC, and it doesn't help he is missing most of the offseason due to ankle surgery.

Free-agent QB Colin Kaepernick (49ers) has drawn interest from three teams since the start of free agency, according to Kaepernick's adviser.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We are pretty sure Kaepernick will get a job somewhere, and while his kneeling may have turned off some teams, the fact that Jay Cutler couldn't find a job either might lessen some of the drama about Kaepernick's unemployment. Other issues are his shaky tendencies on the football field, and the very specific set of skills and fit in scheme.

Ridley has limited upside at this point, and has barely seen any action since he was in New England back in 2014. This would be his second tour with the Jets (he was with the Jets for a bit in 2015) but we're not interested if he joins that backfield with Matt Forte and Bilal Powell.

NFL - Teams still talking to RB LeGarrette Blount

                  Source: ESPN.com - Josina Anderson

Free-agent RB LeGarrette Blount (Patriots) has interested teams continue to talk to him, and they're trying to work around the compensation the New England Patriots attached to him.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's the rub, and it's also clear the Patriots aren't all that hot to bring him back to the fold since they've signed or visited every running back in the league not named Blount. Maybe Blount could get a job with them if he put on a mustache, fake nose and glasses while telling them his name is MeLarrette Lount. The May 9th tender the team put on Blount complicates things for anybody interested in signing him. Blount can negotiate with other teams up to the start of training camp.

Conner is a powerful runner who creates his own space with a powerful lower body that helps him run through contact consistently. He'll compete as a backup behind superstar Le'Veon Bell.

At 6'4" 218 pounds, Williams has the prototypical size that scouts look for. He's not an explosive or quick-twitch player, but his size, wingspan and leaping ability make him tough to cover. Williams can make difficult catches seem routine, and he should at least be a good red zone target as a rookie.

DEN - Open competition at RB in Denver

Source: Denver7 Sports - Troy Renck

Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph told reporters Friday, May 12, there will be competition for the starting running back job in training camp, presumably between C.J. Anderson, Jamaal Charles and Devontae Booker.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Anderson has to be considered the frontrunner at this time. Charles has not been himself over the last two years, and he might be best suited as a change-of-pace back. Booker did struggle as a rookie but he led the team in rushing last year, and he was the Broncos third-leading receiver in 2016. We'll see this unfold in training camp.

White had amazing ability two years ago, but have these injuries robbed him of his speed and playmaking skills? We'll have to wait and see. We still have stock in White in dynasty formats as it's tough to let go of a former first-round pick (and we're just stubborn sometimes). Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff has been exceedingly present this spring and picked up the new playbook at a 'surprisingly quick pace,' according to new offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur.

The Rams have to get Goff on the right track. They made him the no.1 overall pick last year for a reason, but the Cal QB looked lost as a rookie in 2016. LaFleur's offense should have a Washington/Atlanta feel to it, and it could be a system that makes Goff more comfortable than whatever Jeff Fisher was trying to do with him last year.

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone believes there is 'no doubt' the way QB Blake Bortles is throwing the ball this offseason 'has improved'.

                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Bortles mechanics were quite wonky last year, and it caused his play to slip. The Jaguars haven't written him off (yet), but Bortles certainly needs to start playing better if he wants to stay as the starting quarterback. He's in line for a bounce-back season in 2017.

IND - Big leap coming from TE Erik Swoope?

                      Source: Colts.com - Kevin Bowen

Indianapolis Colts TE Erik Swoope said he believes the coaching staff is expecting a lot from him this season, and Kevin Bowen of Colts.com believes the decision not to draft a tight end indicates the Colts are comfortable with Swoope as their No. 2 tight end.

                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Swoope didn't play college football, but he was picked up by the Colts on a flier and he's been developing at the tight end position. A basketball star at Miami, Swoope is your classic "hoops to football" convert and plays with great athleticism. He'll compete for targets behind 2016 breakout player Jack Doyle.

DET - TE Eric Ebron progressing nicely

                      Source: ESPN.com - Michael Rothstein

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron has yet to play 16 games in a season for the Lions, but he set career-highs last year in receptions (61) and yards (711) last season. He has also improved as a blocker, while his drop rate went from 10.1 percent in 2015 to 5.8 percent in 2016 even as he was targeted 17 more times and had a higher percentage of targets per route run and receptions per route run, according to ESPN's Michael Rothstein.

                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Ebron has been improving each year as a pro. The selection of noted TD-hog Mike Roberts (Toledo) in the 2017 NFL draft could keep Ebron from top fantasy status. We like him as a high-end TE2 this year.

NYG - Wayne Gallman to see important carries

Source: New York Daily News - Pat Leonard

New York Giants RB Wayne Gallman will likely serve as the primary backup to RB Paul Perkins and could see carries at the goal line, according to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News.

                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gallman is the big back in this situation, so he may play a larger role than some think. We love Perkins' ability, but as a smaller back he's likely to have his touches monitored. We could see Perkins as the lead back, the pass-catching back but Gallman the powerback, short-yardage back and goal-line back in 2017. Let's see how things unfold in training camp and the preseason.

DAL - RB Alfred Morris on the bubble?

Source: Fort Worth Star-Telegram - Charean Williams

Dallas Cowboys RB Alfred Morris' inability to play special teams likely places him on the roster bubble. 'You'd love for your third back, in a perfect world, to be a contributor on special teams,' Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said.

                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cowboys have great insurance behind Ezekiel Elliot with Morris, but that doesn't guarantee him a spot on the 53-man roster. Morris would likely be scooped up quickly if he gets to the open market.

DAL - TE Rico Gathers tough to defend

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys TE Rico Gathers is 'always an option' in the passing game because of his big catch radius, according to offensive coordinator Scott Linehan.

                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jason Witten can't play forever, so Gathers is a deep dynasty prospect we're adding feverishly or hanging onto tightly. The former basketball star at Baylor has the size (6'6") and strength to be a factor...and a fantasy asset...for the Cowboys in the future.

ARI - Big things expected from Chad Williams

                      Source: AZCardinals.com - Kyle Odegard

Arizona Cardinals WR Chad Williams is considered someone who can 'carry the torch' once WR Larry Fitzgerald decides to retire, according to offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin.

                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Williams is not a burner, but he plays larger than his size (6'1") and can make dynamic catches seem routine. He needs work as a route runner and needs to add more strength to his frame, but Williams is a dynasty prospect we have eyes for.

NYG - Evan Engram a complete tight end?

                      Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano

New York Giants TE Evan Engram is 'not just a big receiver,' offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan said Friday, May 12. 'We do feel comfortable about the things we want him to do when he has his hand in the ground,' Sullivan said.

                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Yeah...we'll agree to disagree here. We love Engram's ability as a receiver. He impressed on film and at the Senior Bowl...but it was as a receiver only. Engram is a work in progress as a blocker. The team needed a pass-catching weapon at tight end, and that's why they selected Engram in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft.

TEN - QB Marcus Mariota will not be rushed back

                      Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota's status for off-season work remains in the 'to be determined' department, according to TitansOnline's Jim Wyatt.
                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We doubt Mariota practices much if at all this offseason. The goal is to have him ready for Week 1 of the regular season, so he might even be limited to start training camp. We'll know more about his status as August draws near. He was the no.13 fantasy QB in 2016 (standard scoring leagues) and could crack into the top 10 this year with the added weapons around him in the passing game.

                      Source: ESPNCleveland.com - Tony Grossi

Cleveland Browns RB Isaiah Crowell recently signed his restricted free-agent contract tender, but he was absent from the team's voluntary offseason program prior to the signing and may not return until mandatory minicamp in June.

                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is not really a big deal as the offense will remain the same as Hue Jackson continues as head coach in 2017. Crowell didn't get the extension he wanted, but when it comes to mandatory attendance later this year we'd expect him to show up.

JAX - Leonard Fournette must earn starting job

                      Source: ESPN.com - Mike DiRocco

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette will need to earn the starting running back job during offseason workouts and training camp even though he was the team's first-round pick, according to head coach Doug Marrone.

                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jaguars aren't going to hand him the starting job, and just like every team out there we'll see rookies 'earn' their playing time. That being said....Fournette is incredibly talented and should have no problem winning the starting job over guys like Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon. He's got RB1 potential for sure, but Fournette is currently going off the board at RB21 (5.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

CLE - DeShone Kizer to see plenty of work

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns QB DeShone Kizer will receive a lot of snaps during offseason workouts because he needs the work, according to head coach Hue Jackson.

                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kizer is far from a finished product. Think of a super raw Daunte Culpepper when considering Kizer's current skill set as an NFL passer. The Browns could develop him into a starting quarterback...perhaps even franchise quarterback level...but it's going to take time.

CLE - QB Cody Kessler to get first snaps

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns QB Cody Kessler will receive the first snaps during drills this offseason because he has earned the right, according to head coach Hue Jackson.

                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Zero surprise here. Kessler should be considered the favorite to start for the Browns...at least at the beginning of the regular season. He'll compete with Brock Osweiler, while the Browns keep Osweiler that is. DeShone Kizer was drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft, and he could be the team's future at the position. The speed of his development will likely determine how long Kessler has as 'the man' under center.

CLE - Jabrill Peppers will be on the field

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns SS Jabrill Peppers has signed his injury waiver and will participate in practice Saturday, May 13.

                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peppers can line up all over the field on defense....and offense too if the team wants to use him that way. The most versatile player in the 2017 NFL draft, Peppers is rangy and aggressive playing in the secondary. He's also got the ability to play some running back or wide receiver as a gadget player due to his incredible athleticism.

DEN - Chad Kelly should be ready for camp

Source: Denver7 Sports - Troy Renck

Denver Broncos seventh-round QB Chad Kelly (wrist) should be 'totally cleared' for training camp in August, according to head coach Vance Joseph.

                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kelly is coming back from wrist surgery, a major knee injury suffered last year and a lingering hernia problem. He's the most talented "Mr. Irrelevant" ever selected in the NFL draft, but Kelly is not likely to be much of a factor this year. Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemian will compete for the starting job in training camp. Kelly could get in the mix in 2018 if neither Lynch or Siemian show enough future potential this season.

Source: Philadelphia Daily News - Paul Domowitch
Philadelphia Eagles RB Donnel Pumphrey said he is seeing reps as a slot receiver, and head coach Doug Pederson said Pumphrey reminds him of RB Darren Sproles because of his versatility.
                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Pumphrey is tiny, measuring in around 170 pounds, but he's elusive and dangerous in open space. The Eagles should groom him as an eventual replacement to Darren Sproles.
