The San Francisco 49ers are expected to offer Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan a six-year deal to become their head coach, according to sources.

Shanahan's first head coaching job should allow him the chance to institute his "program" over multiple years, unlike Chip Kelly, who got only one year to turn the ship (that has run aground) around.

MIA - QB Ryan Tannehill doesn't need surgery

Updating previous reports, Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill (knee) will not require surgery to repair his anterior cruciate ligament, according to sources. Tannehill had an MRI Monday, Jan. 30, to confirm the prognosis.

Tannehill should be good to go for training camp, if not part of OTAs. This is good news for the Dolphins, who were flirting with the idea of playing Tannehill in the playoffs, something the Chargers did with Philip Rivers in the 2007-2008 season.

Seattle Seahawks TE Jimmy Graham has been targeted 31 times for 13 catches and six touchdowns in the red zone in 29 games since joining the Seahawks.

Graham rose back to the elite fantasy tight end level in 2016, but he faded late in the season and is probably past the peak of his career. While the Seahawks made more use of him last year, it could be mostly due to Tyler Lockett's injury.

GB - WR Jordy Nelson struggled with YAC

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson averaged 3.58 yards after the catch, which was his lowest average since his rookie season. He had either zero or minus yards after the catch on 41 of his 105 catches in 2016. He did finish with 15 touchdowns during the season.

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb dropped only two of his 105 targets this season and led the team with a drop rate of 1.9 percent. Cobb also led the team with an average of 5.05 yards after the catch.

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray recorded less carries and receptions in 2016 than he did in 2015. Murray had 195 carries and 33 receptions this season while recording 266 carries and 41 receptions in 2015.

ESPNDallas.com's Todd Archer posits that the only chance Dallas may have of bringing back Leary is if he's guaranteed to start at guard, in which case Collins could move to tackle. However, Archer added that Collins needs more time to work on his technique and footwork after playing his first professional season at guard.

The Cowboys "great wall" is not only the league's best offensive line, but it has depth to give the team options on handling Leary in free agency. San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick is entering the final year of his contract in due to have a $19.3 million cap figure, and the team can save $16.9 million in cap space by cutting or trading him. One possible destination could be the New York Jets, who named New Orleans Saints receivers coach John Morton as their new offensive coordinator Sunday, Jan. 29. Morton served as the receivers coach in San Francisco from 2011 to 2014 - Kaepernick's first four years in the league.

The Jets are among the most desperate quarterback teams in the NFL, although they might wait to see what happens with Tony Romo before pursuing an option like Kaepernick.

New England Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo could be a possible trade target for the Houston Texans, according to the Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson.

The Texans are obviously in the market for a quarterback with Brock Osweiler's failings, but they are on the hook for 16 million guaranteed dollars to Osweiler this year. If they trade what would likely be a first-round pick for Garoppolo, they would have to tie up an inordinate amount of money if they sign Garoppolo to a long-term deal and keep Osweiler (which seems to be impossible to avoid). Alternatively, they could wait until 2018 to offer Garoppolo a deal, but if he plays well in 2017, the price will be much higher than Osweiler's. It makes sense from a team need point of view, but the contract given to Osweiler hurts the possibility of it happening.

Los Angeles Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (knee) underwent arthroscopic knee surgery last week to repair a Grade 2 posterior cruciate ligament sprain. Benjamin had been dealing with the sprain for several weeks. A timetable for his recovery was not disclosed.

Benjamin played through the injury and even got some of his speed back, but the surgery is probably good news for his long term prognosis. His toughness can't be questioned and if the Chargers can put him, Tyrell Williams, and Keenan Allen on the field together next year, they could have lethal passing attack around Philip Rivers.

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz wants to play out the final two years of his contract with the team, but he admits the 'ball is in (the Giants') court' when it comes to sticking around. Cruz has a $9.4 million salary cap hit next season and will likely need to take a pay cut for the second straight season in order to stay. Cruz agreed to reduce his base salary from $7.9 million to $1.3 million for the 2016 season.

Coates was mid-breakout against the Jets in Week 5 when he suffered the injuries. Coates' fantasy stock is volatile heading into the 2017 season, but his talent and situation still give him a high ceiling if he can land more opportunity.

Manziel does seem to be earnestly trying to turn his career around, but he is so far from the game right now that it's hard to picture him ever getting back to form. To be fair, he didn't flame out because of his play - he was still viable as an NFL quarterback at times before leaving the league, but Manziel has a lot of work to do just to get teams to answer his phone calls.

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton said that Clemson QB Deshaun Watson 'appears to have all those things that we're looking for' and believes there's 'something special about him.' According to Payton, the Saints haven't seen 'any signs' of a potential decline for current starting QB Drew Brees, but acknowledged a transition will eventually have to come, and that 'the transaction may take place, not in the same year (Brees) is being replaced.'

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick is expected to opt out of his contract when he's eligible to do so March 2, according to a report by ESPN.

One thing is clear, Peterson won't get a six million dollar roster bonus on March 11. He's just not worth that plus his 12 million dollar salary and workout bonus in his age 32 season. He could pick his team if he wants to force the Vikings hand by not reworking his deal for them or a potential trade partner.

Glennon was actually excellent by rookie standards back in 2013, and he has a better resume than Brock Osweiler because his success was earlier in his career. He should get an incentive and playing-time bonus laden deal somewhere along with a chance to compete to start. The Jets aren't going to be one of the most attractive destinations for a quarterback so a second-tier option like Glennon makes sense.

Falcons were staying true to their personality so I wouldn't criticize Shanahan too much, he had to remain aggressive with Pats not going away. Can't blame him for Ryan taking a sack and then the holding penalty after Atlanta was in field goal range their last drive. Real culprit was the defense, they were fine in first half but just wore down late under Brady pressure.
