DEN - CB Aqib Talib treated for gunshot wound Source: USA TODAY Sports

Denver Broncos CB Aqib Talib (leg) has been released from a Dallas hospital Sunday, June 5, after he was treated for a gunshot wound to his leg. Broncos vice president of public relations Patrick Smyth said Talib is doing OK.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're glad he's okay, and we're glad this wasn't much worse. We're guessing Talib went Plaxico Burress and shot himself in the leg on accident. We'll know more about this in the near future.

NYJ - Coach wants more from Bryce Petty

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets QB Bryce Petty has improved from a mental standpoint but has to perform better on the field during training camp, according to head coach Todd Bowles.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Playing Madden does not make you better at actually playing football. Petty was a project when he came out of Baylor last year, and we don't have a lot of love for him...even in super deep dynasty leagues.

NYJ - Christian Hackenberg struggling at times

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets QB Christian Hackenberg has had problems during offseason workouts with his passes fluttering and throwing the ball too high when he misses a receiver. Head coach Todd Bowles said he expects Hackenberg to perform better during training camp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jets shouldn't be surprised by this. Hackenberg had two disappointing seasons in a row at Penn State. Some may have blamed the offense or the coaching staff, but at the end of the day it was Hackenberg who struggled to perform well. He's a prototypical pocket passer, but we're not excited about his upside. The rookie may be painted as some sort of future franchise QB, but we just don't see it. He's got a lot of room for improvement.

CHI - RB Jeremy Langford looking to round out game

Source: Chicago Tribune - Rich Campbell

Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford is hoping to improve on third downs, sharpen his skills in the passing game and improving his yards after contact (1.13), which was easily the worst mark among qualified running backs last season. Langford has been working with his coaches to widen his feet on contact in an effort to improve his balance and power.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
There are two backs behind Langford to monitor on the Bears roster. Ka'Deem Carey should be splitting time with Langford this year, but it's rookie Jordan Howard who might be the best of the bunch. There are some in the scouting community who felt that Howard was the most natural RB in this draft class not named Ezekiel Elliot. The Bears picked up Howard as a value pick in the fifth round. He's a big back who rushed for 145 yards or more in every full game he played in. Howard can make his living between the tackles, and his bruising style should lead to better numbers after contact than Langford or Carey.

DAL - QB Tony Romo staying optimistic

    Source: DallasCowboys.com - David Helman

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (collarbone) believes last year's broken collarbone will turn out to be an anomaly. Romo is focused on the team performing better. He believes part of that is him being healthy and teammates improving.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's the power of positive thinking, right? What you think about you bring about, but this is Tony Romo. There may not be anything such as injury prone, but if it was in the dictionary there would be a picture of Romo alongside it. We're glad he's staying positive...now, he just needs to stay healthy the Cowboys can make a playoff run in 2016.

MIA - Not interested in free agents

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Free-agent CBs Leon Hall (Bengals) and Antonio Cromartie (Jets) are not being pursued by the Miami Dolphins at this time. They are both on the back burner, however, if Miami should suffer injuries or be disappointed with their young players at the position.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Dolphins want to see how Byron Maxwell and Xavien Howard do before adding veterans like Hall or Cromartie. Maxwell comes over to Miami after a horrible season with the Eagles. Howard was the team's second-round pick out of Baylor. If either struggles to impress, then perhaps we'll see the team consider other options.

JAX - RB T.J. Yeldon in better shape

    Source: The Florida Times-Union - Ryan O'Halloran

Jacksonville Jaguars RB T.J. Yeldon has improved his physique after spending the offseason training with Alabama strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran. Yeldon said he's at 225 pounds, but he wants to lose five more pounds before training camp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's good news when an Alabama RB wants to take care of physique before it becomes a problem (see Eddie Lacy, Trent Richardson). Yeldon flashed as a rookie but only played in 12 games as he was slowed by a sprained MCL. The team added free agent Chris Ivory this year to utilize in a RBBC with Yeldon. At this time, fantasy owners are taking Ivory at RB32 (7.08) and Yeldon at RB34 (8.01) in 12-team PPR leagues.

WAS - Josh Doctson taking it easy

    Source: RealRedskins.com - Rich Tandler
Washington Redskins WR Josh Doctson (foot) is taking it slow with his foot injury. Washington wants Doctson to watch now and not risk having him watch next month because of a setback or aggravation. The injury is not serious, however.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team added Doctson in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft. Coming out of TCU as a true No.1 wide receiver, it will be interesting to see how he fits in Washington with Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson above him on the depth chart. Doctson could be the team's WR3 while he gets up to speed at the pro level.

TEN - QB Marcus Mariota can still improve

Source: The Tennessean - John Glennon

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota is expected to improve his pocket awareness in 2016. Mariota was sacked 38 times in his rookie season -- the most of any quarterback who played in 12 or fewer games. 'I've really emphasized getting rid of the ball instead of taking sacks,' head coach Mike Mularkey said. Mariota has been told an incompletion is OK, and to throw the ball away and move on to the next down. Mariota's knowledge of the offense is also expected to be improved. Mularkey has streamlined the offense for more simplicity.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Of course he can improve, as Mariota is going into his second season in the NFL. He needs to stay healthy and continue to develop as a passer. Everyone knows he can scramble and throw on the run, and now he'll have to improve his decision-making skill within the pocket. We have confidence in the young passer, but know that the Titans are going to use their "exotic smashmouth" ground attack featuring DeMarco Murray and rookie Derrick Henry. The run-heavy nature of the offense could keep Mariota's fantasy potential around a low-end QB2.

NFL - Multiple teams interested in RB Joique Bell

Source: Detroit Free Press - Lev Facher

Free-agent RB Joique Bell (Lions) said he has received contract offers from three NFL teams this offseason and believes at least two of those proposals are still on the table.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bell's 3.5 YPC from 2015 isn't going to fire teams up. His injury history won't either, so we're not seeing the interest here. Perhaps Bell could latch on with a team as veteran depth, but his fantasy value would likely be close to none.

            Tuesday Update

SEA - RB Marshawn Lynch won't return Source: ESPN.com - Sheil Kapadia
Retired RB Marshawn Lynch confirmed that he won't be returning to play for the Seattle Seahawks. 'I'm retired. Is that good enough? Which camera do you want me to look into? This one? I'm done. I'm not playing football anymore,' Lynch said.
            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
He's done....maybe. Lynch is one of our favorite players to ever play in the NFL, but he's a beat of a different drummer guy and could end up changing his mind on a whim. Unfortunately, we may have seen the last of Lynch.

NE - QB Tom Brady won't reach settlement

            Source: ESPN.com - Mike Rodak

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady has had no settlement talks about his four-game suspension, and commissioner Roger Goodell said the courts will make their decision.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Like sands through the hourglass of time, DeflateGate continues. We hope to get a resolution to this at some point in the future. Right now, Brady is suspended four games to start the season and fantasy owners need to adjust Patriots projections due to that.

HOU - RB Lamar Miller to be dual threat

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller is slated for a versatile role as an inside and outside runner, and he figures to be a healthy part of the passing game.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller has been a top-10 fantasy RB each of the last two years, but we don't think he's yet played up to his full potential. That's exciting when you consider the role and workload he's likely to have in his first season with the Texans. We won't be surprised if Miller finishes the year as a top-5 fantasy RB and the fantasy community feels that way as well. Miller has a current ADP of RB7 (2.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

DET - TE Eric Ebron sat out OTAs

            Source: DetroitLions.com - Tim Twentyman

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (undisclosed) did not participate in OTAs because of an undisclosed injury.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's make-or-break time for Ebron with the Lions. The guy will forever be remembered as the player they drafted over WR Odell Beckham Jr. in 2014, and Ebron has done little to impress during his time in the pros. He needs to get healthy, stay healthy and prove that he can be an impact player for the team. Call us doubtful in this matter.

GB - QB Aaron Rodgers changes diet

Source: USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin - Ryan Wood

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said he has removed dairy from his diet in hopes that it will help him stay healthy and extend his career. He said he weighs around 218 pounds at this point, which is his lightest weight since 2007.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Isn't that against the law in Wisconsin? Whatever it takes to stay healthy and extend his career. After football, Rodgers will have plenty of time to chug cartons of milk like a pledge drinking his first beer if he wants.

MIA - WR Wes Welker at Miami's OTAs

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Michael David Smith

Free-agent WR Wes Welker (Rams) attended the Miami Dolphins' organized team activities Monday, June 6, but head coach Adam Gase said the team is not looking to sign Welker.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Welker is likely done playing in the NFL. His playing career was shortened by concussion problems he had with the Broncos. During his time in Denver, Welker worked well in the Gase system. Gase said Welker is familiar with his offense and could help the receivers on the roster.

SD - RB Melvin Gordon on the field Monday

Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Tom Krasovic

San Diego Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (knee) participated in a few snaps during organized team activities Monday, June 6, and looked more active than he did last week.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's a good sign for the young runner. The Chargers are likely to use a RBBC this year with Gordon and Danny Woodhead. Gordon is still recovering from microfracture surgery that he had earlier this year. The plan is for him to be near full strength for the start of training camp.

SD - RB Branden Oliver looking good

Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Tom Krasovic

San Diego Chargers RB Branden Oliver (toe) was able to make cuts during organized team activities Monday, June 6, and does not appear to be bothered by the toe injury that ended his 2015 season early.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Oliver can be a spot starter for the Chargers if needed. He can help lighten the workload of Melvin Gordon as the second-year pro continues to recover from microfracture knee surgery from earlier this year.

ARI - JJ Nelson more comfortable

            Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss

Arizona Cardinals WR JJ Nelson said he's not thinking about the game anymore because he knows what he's doing. Nelson believes his increased comfort and an improved skill set will enable him to come into a game and not feel like there's a drop-off with fellow receivers.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nelson's got the speed to take the top off the defense in a hurry. At this time, he's buried on the Cardinals depth chart behind Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd and John Brown. With Fitzgerald and Floyd in the final year of their contracts, Nelson's future with the team looks like it could have more work.

DEN - CB Aqib Talib released from hospital

Source: NFL Network - James Palmer

Denver Broncos CB Aqib Talib (leg) was released from the hospital Monday, June 6. Ideally, Talib will arrive in Denver Tuesday, June 7, or Wednesday, June 8.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mandatory minicamp begins for the Broncos this week, and it will be interesting to see if Talib talks to the media. After another incident involving a firearm, Talib is likely to face discipline from the NFL. However, the legal process will have to run its course and then the league may consider a fine or suspension for the oft-troubled corner.

GB - TE Jared Cook's injury not a concern

Source: Green Bay Press-Gazette - Pete Dougherty

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (foot) is not expected to have long-term issues with his foot injury, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. Cook does not have a timetable for a return yet, but doctors do feel good about his return.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Packers here. Rarely does GM Ted Thompson make such a move in free agency, but Cook could play a big role in their high-powered passing attack. Having a TE who is a weapon has not been at QB Aaron Rodgers disposal in some time, and Cook could be that guy. He's never really played up to his potential, but the opportunity is there this season.

HOU - WR DeAndre Hopkins, Osweiler progressing

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans QB Brock Osweiler and WR DeAndre Hopkins have progressed in their chemistry, according to head coach Bill O'Brien, who said both players are working extremely hard.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hopkins appears to be QB-proof, so even if or when Osweiler struggles we should still see the star WR have plenty of fantasy relevance.

NYG - WR Victor Cruz shows burst

Source: The Bergen Record - Art Stapleton

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf) performed full speed acceleration drills with a trainer Monday, June 6, and showed some burst in doing so.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're hopeful to see Cruz return to his old form eventually. Call us cautiously optimistic. The goal is still for him to return by training camp.

JAX - Allen Roobinson works on side

            Source: The Florida Times-Union - Ryan O'Halloran

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Robinson (hamstring) worked on a side field during organized team activities Monday, June 6.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hamstring injuries are known to linger if not allowed to heal fully. The Jaguars will monitor their star WR as he deals with this. We have a feeling that by training camp this hamstring injury will be a non-issue.

JAX - RB Chris Ivory not at workout

            Source: The Florida Times-Union - Ryan O'Halloran

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory (undisclosed) was not present for organized team activities Monday, June 6.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ivory is going to play a big part on their offense. He'll be splitting time with T.J. Yeldon this season, and the split may be close to 50/50. We imagine he'll be back at OTAs in the near future.

HOU - DE J.J. Watt returns to practice

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans DE J.J. Watt (groin) returned to practice Monday, June 6, after undergoing groin and core surgery this offseason.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watt should be good to go by training camp. We're sure the team is taking it easy on him. Watt's play this year could once again propel the Texans into the postseason.

JAX - Dante Fowler happy with recovery

Jacksonville Jaguars DE Dante Fowler (knee) said he is happy with how his rehab has gone and believes he is playing faster each day.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We can't wait to see him on the field rushing the passer. A knee injury caused Fowler to miss his entire rookie season in 2015, but all signs have been positive about his recovery. Fowler has been able to participate in every offseason workout.

GB - OLB Clay Matthews not practicing

Source: Green Bay Press-Gazette - Pete Dougherty

Green Bay Packers LB Clay Matthews (undisclosed) is not participating in organized team activities Monday, June 6.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Not a huge concern here...especially because the reason for missing practice is undisclosed. Matthews is moving back to OLB this year where he should once again be a pass-rushing force for the Packers defense.

SF - Niners QBs similar says Chip Kelly

            Source: NFL.com - Conor Orr

San Francisco 49ers QBs Colin Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert are on similar ground, according to head coach Chip Kelly. 'I think they're similar,' Kelly told KGMZ-FM. 'They have a similar skill set. They're both 6-foot-4-plus. They both can really run, which will help keep plays alive. Obviously we're not a quarterback-run offense, but if the quarterback can run, you can use a little of that to your advantage. And they both have extremely strong arms. So, from a skill set standpoint, the two of them are kind of cut out of the same mold.'

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

They're similar because they've both struggled in the pros too. Gabbert is the frontrunner at this time as Kaepernick recovers from three offseason surgeries. We're not excited by most of this 49ers offense, and neither QB makes for an enticing fantasy option.

WAS - WR DeSean Jackson shows up to OTAs

            Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson is with the team for the third week of organized team activities after skipping the first two weeks. His absence wasn't that big of a surprise this year, as Jackson has skipped voluntary practices in previous years.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson stays away during voluntary minicamps, but he shows up for mandatory work. In the final year of his deal with Washington, it will be interesting to see if Jackson can stay healthy and put up better numbers than he did last year. In 2015, Jackson missed five games and set career lows for targets (49), receptions (30) and yards (528). We see him as a high-upside WR3 or flex play for fantasy owners, and he has a current ADP of WR37 (8.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

MIA - RB Jay Ajayi wants to be more consistent

            Source: ESPN.com - James Walker

Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi said he has been working on being more consistent as a runner this offseason by trying to be more patient and elusive with the ball. The Dolphins are expected to spread defenses out in 2016 in hopes of finding more openings for Ajayi and the other running backs.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Dolphins offense gets us excited for the 2016 season with head coach Adam Gase calling the shots...or should we say the passing game looks to be an intriguing field for fantasy owners. The rushing attack is a huge question mark at this time. Ajayi will split time with rookie Kenyan Drake in a RBBC, and the Dolphins may be the team who adds RB Arian Foster later this year. We'll feel better about his prospects once we get into the preseason and see exactly how this RB situation is shaping up.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sproles said he missed the workouts because of family issues and that the team knew about them. He said reports that he was looking for a new contract or to be traded were false.

PHI - Coach sees WR Jordan Matthews as slot WR

            Source: NJ.com - Eliot Shorr-Parks

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews appears to play better as a slot receiver as opposed to lining up on the outside, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Matthews played as the slot receiver under Chip Kelly, and it seems like that may be his spot now that Pederson has taken over at head coach. He has great hands, and Matthews can cut off his routes with precision on underneath routes. If he does play the slot, that means guys like Nelson Agholor and Rueben Randle will be featured on the outside.

DET - RB Ameer Abdullah will be ready for camp

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah (shoulder) will be ready for the start of training camp, according to general manager Bob Quinn.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Abdullah needs to prove that he can be durable and be more than a change-of-pace back. The Lions are prepared to make him a larger part of the offense if he can hold up. They'll continue to use Theo Riddick as a receiving back, and second-year pro Zach Zenner could cut into Abdullah's workload. Abdullah has a current ADP of RB31 (7.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

MIA - WR DeVante Parker limited again

            Source: Sun-Sentinel - Omar Kelly

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (foot) is not practicing for the second consecutive week and continues to do rehab work. Head coach Adam Gase said it's precautionary.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's a good move for the Dolphins. Parker can be a stud fantasy WR under Gase. His ball-tracking ability and concentration could make him a great deep target for the Dolphins in 2016. He could easily outperform his ADP of WR31 (6.09) in 12-team PPR leagues.

MIN - S Harrison Smith signs rich deal

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Minnesota Vikings FS Harrison Smith signed a five-year, $51.25 million deal Monday, June 6, which makes him the highest-paid safety in the league. He received a $10 million signing bonus, $28.578 million guaranteed and a three-year average of $10.75 million.
            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This deal now makes Smith the highest-paid safety in the league--and for good reason. He's a playmaker when it comes to run or pass defense. Smith arrives at the play with nasty intentions, and he has no problem playing close to the line of scrimmage to stuff the run. He also has the ability to make plays in coverage and can get his hands on an interception from time to time. This is a good deal for both sides.

BAL - QB Joe Flacco on track for camp Source: WNST
Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) is making good progress in his recovery and should be able to participate during training camp as long as he does not suffer any setbacks, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Flacco's timetable has always been somewhere during training camp. He may not be ready right at the beginning of camp, but we expect to see him practicing at some point in August. The team should severely limit him in camp with the target of having him start in Week 1.

NE - QB Tom Brady working with TE Martellus Bennett

                    Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady was working one-on-one with TE Martellus Bennett in the red zone during practice Tuesday, June 7.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bennett could be huge for the Patriots...and for fantasy owners. While the WR corps isn't full of All-Stars, the TE position features two great players. Rob Gronkowski will still be the lead TE, but Bennett could catch plenty of passes as the team's TE2. Fantasy owners are taking Gronkowski at TE1 (1.09) while Bennett is seen as TE14 (11.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

DEN - CB Aqib Talib situation under review

                    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating previous reports, Denver Broncos CB Aqib Talib's (leg) incident that led to him suffering a gunshot wound is being actively investigated by the NFL, according to a league official. The Broncos immediately notified NFL about the shooting after they found out about it, and now the NFL is exploring the determining facts behind the incident, the official said. One league source said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell doesn't like guns, he doesn't like guns in the hands of intoxicated players, and he especially doesn't like guns in the hands of intoxicated players who have a history with guns like Talib has.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The legal process will first need to be exhausted, but after that expect the league to take swift and strong action. Goodell is likely to put his foot down on such behavior, and handing out a year-long suspension wouldn't be a shock. However, that suspension may not come until next season.

                    Source: DenverBroncos.com - Andrew Mason

Denver Broncos RB Devontae Booker (knee) was able to participate in some team drills during practice Tuesday, June 7. Head coach Gary Kubiak said Booker could receive more work during practice next week.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Booker's head is reportedly spinning as he gets used to the NFL. He's not quite yet at full strength as he's still recovering from a meniscus injury that required two surgeries to repair. Booker is a talented all-purpose back, but consider him a three-down-back-in-waiting for the Broncos. C.J. Anderson is the starter, and he's set up to carry the largest workload of his career...if he can stay healthy in 2016.

DEN - Paxton Lynch moving well

                    Source: DenverBroncos.com - Andrew Mason

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch has done well throwing the ball while rolling to his left as well as to his right during offseason workouts. Head coach Gary Kubiak said he was impressed with Lynch during practice Tuesday, June 7.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lynch is the QB of the future in Denver, and we wouldn't be surprised to see him start this season at some point. He's athletic, tall, has a good arm and rarely makes bad decisions with the football. Lynch was the best QB in this draft class when being blizted, and he threw 11 TDs with only 1 INT when defenses brought five or more pass-rushers. The Broncos will run the ball as much as possible this year to keep things simple for their rookie QB.

Denver Broncos QB Mark Sanchez has thrown only one interception in his last six practices after throwing an interception in the first offseason workouts. He had several connections with WRs Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders during practice Tuesday, June 7.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanchez worked with the first team today, and he has to be considered the frontrunner to begin the year as the starter. The Broncos want Paxton Lynch to take over at some point, and they're microwaving his learning curve. We'll continue to see this competition in training camp.

TEN - Coordinator impressed with QB Marcus Mariota

                    Source: ESPN.com - Paul Kuharsky

Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie said he has been impressed with that he has seen from QB Marcus Mariota on tape and during practice. Robiskie said Mariota has done a good job learning the offense that the coaching staff is installing.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mariota wants to avoid the sophomore slump this year. The Titans are going to run the ball early and often with DeMarco Murray and rookie Derrick Henry. That should set things up nicely for Mariota when the team needs to go through the air. Fantasy owners should consider Mariota more of a low-end QB2, but dynasty owners should love his upside and future potential in the NFL.

TEN - WR Kendall Wright to stay on script

                    Source: ESPN.com - Paul Kuharsky

Tennessee Titans WR Kendall Wright will not be allowed to freelance during plays like he may have been allowed to do in the past, according to offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie. Robiskie said he will expect Wright to be where he needs to be during every play. The offensive coordinator said Wright has performed well during offseason workouts.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wright has missed eight games over the last two years, and was limited to only 10 games in 2015. If healthy, he can be the team's leading receiver and likely eclipse 1,000 yards. Fantasy owners should consider him a WR6 for this season as the Titans passing game should be limited by their strong rushing attack.

BAL - Two Ravens RBs back from injury

                    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com - Ryan Mink

Baltimore Ravens RBs Trent Richardson (hamstring) and Kenneth Dixon (hamstring) participated in organized team activities Tuesday, June 7.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Richardson is making one--perhaps final--effort to resurrect his career with the Ravens. A hamstring injury isn't what he needs when he has to prove that he can stay in shape and get back to being a dominant runner like he was in college at Alabama. Dixon is quicker than fast and can be difficult to bring down in the open field. Justin Forsett is the starter, but fantasy owners need to watch the competition behind him to see who emerges as a potential handcuff or waiver-wire addition.

Denver Broncos LB Von Miller was not present for the first day of minicamp Tuesday, June 7. Miller is not under contract at this point, so he can't be fined for not being in attendance.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller has yet to sign his franchise tag, and the two sides have until July 15th to work out a new long-term contract. We should see the Broncos reward Miller with a contract that makes him the highest paid defensive player in NFL history.

Ivory is back in action, and he's going to give the Jaguars offense another dimension in 2016. The veteran back will split time with second-year pro T.J. Yeldon, and their fantasy values may be nearly the same. Both should be considered RB3-level with upside.

No surprise here. Hamstring injuries can linger if not given enough time to heal. We're not worried about it...even if Robinson doesn't practice again until training camp. The Jaguars will watch him closely, and if he's ready--he'll practice.

ATL - RB Devonta Freeman limited Tuesday

                    Source: ESPN.com - Vaughn McClure

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (gluteus) was limited during practice Tuesday, June 7, because of a high gluteal strain, but head coach Dan Quinn said the injury is not serious.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Freeman is in an interesting situation this year. Second-year pro Tevin Coleman was the team's starter last year as a rookie, but an injury caused him to miss time and it opened the door for Freeman. He paid off in a big way for fantasy owners with 1,600 yards combined and 14 total touchdowns. This year, Freeman should be the team's lead back although there may be a larger role for Coleman than some think. Freeman's current ADP is RB5 (2.02) while Coleman's is RB41 (9.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Jones has a big arm and can keep plays alive with his feet. However, he's incredibly inconsistent and has several bad habits to clean up as a passer. Jones is a project, but he's got intriguing upside and that has us quite interested in him from a dynasty perspective.

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick (shoulder, thumb, knee) isn't cleared to take part in the minicamp, but head coach Chip Kelly said that Kaepernick will do individual drills on the side.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kaepernick is recovering from three offseason surgeries, and he has to be falling behind in this QB competition with Blaine Gabbert. If he continues to miss valuable team practice time, then Gabbert may win the starting job for Week 1. If that happens, we're not expecting Gabbert to stay in that spot if (when?) he struggles.

JAX - More on WR Allen Hurns' deal

                    Source: ESPN - Adam Caplan

Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns' four-year, $40 million deal includes $16 million fully guaranteed at signing. The remaining $4 million guarantee becomes fully guaranteed the third day of free agency in 2018.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

So long as Hurns keeps going on his current trajectory, he should be able to see that final $4 million in guaranteed money. The Jaguars found a star from the ranks of the undrafted, and it's a great move to lock him up for a reasonable $10 million per year price.

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Ryan Wood

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (foot) is nursing a foot injury, but the team is not concerned about his outlook heading into the season. 'Jared Cook, we have no long-term concern with his situation. It will be good to have him back,' head coach Mike McCarthy said Monday, June 6.

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He had foot surgery earlier this month, but the procedure was called "preventative" and the team doesn't seem concerned about any long-term effects. Fantasy owners should consider Cook a TE2 with upside. He's never really played up to that upside, but he's an intriguing fit--and a long-missing piece--in the Packers high-powered passing attack. Currently, Cook has an ADP of TE17 (13.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

GB - WR Jeff Janis praised by head coach

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Ryan Wood

Green Bay Packers WR Jeff Janis received praise from head coach Mike McCarthy about his work during organized team activities (OTAs). 'Jeff Janis is doing a lot of good things. He just needs to continue to progress through the fundamentals of the position,' McCarthy said Monday, June 6. 'Special teams he had an excellent last year last year, graded out as one of our top players. I'd like to see him that that same step as a wide receiver.'

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Janis is easily worth a late-round flier if he wins the WR3 job with the Packers. His size/speed combination makes him more of an interesting option than Davante Adams. While Janis has upside, Adams is coming off a disappointing season which saw him continue to drop too many passes. Along with Janis and Adams, we'll see guys like Ty Montgomery and Jared Abbrederis compete for the WR3 spot behind Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb in 2016.

JAX - TE Julius Thomas busy at OTAs

Source: The Florida Times-Union - Hays Carlyon

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas' situation is much more stable this season, as he and QB Blake Bortles are building rapport during the offseason program. 'Julius looks good,' offensive coordinator Greg Olson said Monday, June 6. 'Guys that have been here have been relatively healthy and Julius has been one of those guys, so he's been able to get a lot of reps and a lot of work in so far.'

                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There's been some interesting things about the Jaguars offense coming down the news wire in recent weeks. First, they're going to use a high pace on offense. That faster tempo should benefit the players on offense and could lead to higher production. Next, we're hearing nothing but good things about Thomas this offseason. Fantasy owners know the talent his there, but Thomas has never played a full 16-game season in his pro career. If healthy, Thomas could easily be a top-5 fantasy TE in 2016.

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson is expected to get a lion's share of the work, but RBs Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington each have skillsets which could help the offense. In fact, head coach Bruce Arians hinted Tuesday, June 7, that two backs could be on the field at the same time. 'When I first came here, that's something B.A. told me he wanted to do,' Chris Johnson said. 'It started off with me getting here late (in training camp), then Andre getting hurt early and me getting hurt. David Johnson is well worth taking in the first round of all fantasy drafts, but it will be interesting to see how the team mixes in Chris Johnson and Ellington behind him. Right now, Chris Johnson is going off the board at RB53 (13.02) in 12-team PPR leagues.

CLE - Robert Griffin practicing smarter

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns QB Robert Griffin III has been practicing his slides and throwing the ball away this offseason. Improving in those areas will enable the Browns to better keep positive downs and distances, according to Griffin. Griffin has also learned to take constructive criticism with head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton constantly adjusting his release point, stance, footwork and velocity.

                        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Griffin has to stay healthy if he wants to get his pro career back on track. We'll be interested to see how he fits within the Jackson offense. Griffin's talent didn't go away, but he needs to show that he can make better decisions as a passer--especially when under pressure.

PHI - Philly quarterbacks should split reps

                        Source: PhillyVoice.com - Jimmy Kempski

Philadelphia Eagles QBs Sam Bradford, Carson Wentz and Chase Daniel will receive equal repetitions heading into training camp, according to head coach Doug Pederson. Pederson said Bradford likely won't take more reps than Wentz and Daniel until late in the preseason when starters usually ramp up their workload.

                        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

What in the world are the Eagles doing? First, they screwed up the QB market by overpaying both Bradford and Daniel. Now, they're going to give them all equal reps? Wow...um, okay Pederson if you say so. It's a new system and a new direction for the Eagles since the franchise struggled under former head coach Chip Kelly. One would assume that a starting QB would get as many first-team reps as possible, but not here....or at least not right now. At least we know that Wentz is the future of the team at the QB position, and he's got the upside to eventually be a top-12 QB in the NFL.

SF - QB Blaine Gabbert the favorite at QB?

                        Source: NFL.com - Dan Hanzus
San Francisco 49ers QB Blaine Gabbert is the 'heavy favorite' to enter the 2016 as the starting quarterback, according to NFL Media columnist Michael Silver. QB Colin Kaepernick is 'allegedly in competition' with Gabbert for the starting job. 'He's loved in this locker room,' Silver said of Gabbert. 'He did a lot of good things last year and I'd be shocked if he's not the starter in the opener.'

                        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We can see that. Gabbert should be the frontrunner because Kaepernick still can't practice fully as he continues to recover from three offseason surgeries. When there's no real competition (yet), Gabbert can shine. Fantasy owners are staying away from the 49ers passing game....for good reason.

DEN - RB C.J. Anderson the No. 1 back

                        Source: DenverBroncos.com - Andrew Mason

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson has looked like the No. 1 running back throughout organized team activities so far, and his cuts have been decisive like they were in the second half of last season after he recovered from his sprained ankle. Anderson is also adjusting well to having a fullback in front of him, with FBs Juwan Thompson and Andy Janovich competing for the role.

                        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

How is this even a debate? The language of the NFL is money, and the Broncos paid Anderson a $5 million bonus as part of his new contract earlier this year. Along with those bags of money will come the football...as much as he can handle. Expect a workload similar to what he had in the Super Bowl where Anderson was allowed to control how much he was on the field and got 24 carries for 90 yards and a touchdown against a tough Panthers defense. If he can stay healthy, Anderson can thrive for the Broncos run-heavy offense.

Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Mark Kaboly

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Sammie Coates is having a tremendous offseason, according to offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

                        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team is going to be relying on Coates now that Martavis Bryant has been suspended for the year. Coates has a large wingspan and he's got the speed to take the top off the defense regularly. However, he's had hands of stone in the past and needs to prove that he can be reliable as a pass-catcher in 2016.

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (personal) missed time this offseason because of a family matter. Sproles said he is content with his current contract and content in Philadelphia.

Sproles should be back in a change-of-pace role for the Eagles this year. The offense will look different under new head coach Doug Pederson, but Sproles' role should look somewhat similar.

Source: USA TODAY Sports - Tom Pelissero

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard is finalizing a three-year extension worth $15.5 million Wednesday, June 8, according to a source.

                        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bernard was entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2016, and the Bengals wanted to keep him around for a good price. We should see him involved as part of the team's RBBC with Jeremy Hill, but Bernard really stands out as a receiver out of the backfield. With losses to the receiving corps in free agency (Marvin Jones, Mohamed Sanu), Bernard may be able to outproduce the 49 catches he had in 2015.

It doesn't matter where Huff plays, really. As a former Oregon player, Huff was a favorite of former head coach Chip Kelly. Now that Peterson has taken over, we don't see any fantasy value for Huff as the Eagles WR4 (at best) on the depth chart.

                        Source: CSNWashington.com - Rich Tandler

Washington Redskins RB Matt Jones is working on his ball security this offseason after he lost four fumbles in 163 touches in 2015 as a rookie. Jones is using a 'special ball' that has sensors in it that will detect if he is putting significant pressure on a key point of the ball as he carries it. If there is pressure on all of the key points of the ball, the ball remains silent. If the grip loosens, a warning signal goes off.

                        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Somewhere our very own Sigmund Bloom is saying, "ah, technology." Jones is going to be the lead back for Washington this year, but if the fumble problems persist we could see the team go in a different direction. We're keeping our eyes on rookie Keith Marshall (Georgia) behind Jones on the depth chart.

Denver Broncos LB Von Miller passed a team-imposed deadline Tuesday, June 7, to agree on a long-term contract. The Broncos have withdrawn their multi-year offer, and Miller will play the 2016 season on his $14.129 million franchise tag. The two sides reached a partial agreement on years and total value in recent days that would have made Miller the highest-paid defensive player, but there were significant differences in how the deal was structured.

                        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There's five weeks to work out a deal. Miller has not yet signed his franchise tender, and the two sides have until July 15th to work something out. The total contract sounds good ($114.5 MM) but the guaranteed money that reportedly offered ($39.8 MM) is way too low for a player like Miller. The Broncos will have to pay more guaranteed money if they want Miller on a long-term deal.

MIA - Kenyan Drake continues to shine

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake has impressive during spring drills. Offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen said Drake 'has been excellent,' and Drake said he is more prepared for the NFL after learning different formations and other intricacies from Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin. Drake remains the frontrunner to serve as the backup to RB Jay Ajayi.

                        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're not surprised that Drake is impressing this offseason. He impressed on film at Alabama as a backup behind Derrick Henry, and he impressed earlier this year during the week of practice for the Reese's Senior Bowl. Drake is a speedy back who isn't afraid to run inside. He can rip off big runs with ease, and has the big-play ability fantasy owners will love. However, he may not be built to be more than a change-of-pace back at the pro level.

                        Source: DenverBroncos.com - Andrew Mason

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch worked with the third-team offense in practice Tuesday, June 7, but he guided the No. 3 offense to a touchdown against the No. 3 defense. Afterwards, head coach Gary Kubiak praised the quarterback's work. 'I think Paxton did some really good stuff. He took the young kids down the field at the end of practice,' Kubiak said.

                        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lynch is their franchise QB of the future. He's been making progress during OTAs and minicamp in regards to his footwork and deep touch. We're not shocked (or dismayed) that Lynch begins mandatory minicamp as the third-string QB. He needs to prove that he can handle the NFL if he wants to eventually win the starting job. While Mark Sanchez may begin the year as the starter, we think Lynch takes over at some point.

San Francisco 49ers QB Blaine Gabbert has turned heads during the offseason and he has really surprised with his athleticism. 'On the field, I know (head coach Chip Kelly) talked about his athleticism. I felt the same way. I didn't know he was as athletic as he was. Throwing the ball, too. He can make all the throws that you need. He has a really good skillset and we're excited about that,' quarterbacks coach Ryan Day said.

                        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

How is that surprising? Coming out of Missouri years ago, the book on Gabbert was that he was incredibly athletic but saw 'ghosts' in the pocket. It's not a shock that Gabbert is athletic...and that ability should greatly help him in the Kelly offense. Now, if he could only shake that 'ghost' thing and didn't feel pressure when it wasn't there.

Source: Santa Rosa Press Democrat - Grant Cohn

San Francisco 49ers TE Vance McDonald is a player garnering plenty of attention during minicamp, as QB Blaine Gabbert and tight ends coach Jeff Nixon each heaped praise on the tight end. 'He's such a great athlete. He's smart. He does a great job in the run and pass game. He's a guy that we have to utilize. He's a mismatch nightmare on linebackers,' Gabbert said. Nixon said the team is looking for McDonald to pick up where he left off last season and be a big-play tight end in the pass game.

                        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McDonald had a few games last year when he was fantasy relevant. Perhaps he can carry over a bit of that momentum to this season. He's at the top of the depth chart, and fantasy owners need to realize how much Chip Kelly uses the TE position in his offense. Last year, Eagles TE Zach Ertz caught 75 passes for 853 yards and two TDs and he finished the year as TE10 in standard-scoring leagues. McDonald may reach those numbers, but he's a player who isn't getting drafted in 12-team PPR leagues right now...so make sure he's on your waiver-wire speed dial--especially in TE-premium leagues.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns is allergic to grass, which is why he wears long sleeves and tries to cover as much of his body as possible. Hurns said he found out about his grass allergy in high school. Hurns said he doesn’t experience breathing problems. His nose doesn't get stuffy or runny either. He has skin breakouts that vary in degrees. Some days they're barely there. Other days he said he has to take a medication after practice or games if it's a severe breakout.

One of two 1,000 yard receivers for Jacksonville, (Allen Robinson was the other) Hurns should pick up right where he left off, and we expect a solid season from him, putting him in the WR3 range this year.

Knowing a lot more about him will maybe help give Le'Veon more rest when he needs it, although knowing Le'Veon he never wants to come off.'

Well they said they would use him, not use him a lot. Williams was a surprise - and a fortunate one for the Steelers - in 2015 but unless Bell gets hurt, he won't repeat those numbers in 2016. He's a handcuff for Bell if you're nervous.

DEN - OLB Von Miller could sit out in 2016

Source: Yahoo! Sports - Charles Robinson

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos LB Von Miller rejected a six-year, $114.5 million deal at some point between Monday, June 6, and Wednesday, June 8. A source close to Miller said the player actually accepted two significant parts of the offer Monday: specifically, the length of the contract (six years) and the overall money ($114.5 million). However, the guaranteed money is apparently where the impasse is, and the impasse has escalated so quickly that Miller could sit out the 2016 season entirely.

                                [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Broncos were hoping an early offer would get him at minicamps and assure them that he would be in training camp, but he didn't accept it quick enough we guess. We suspect Miller will be in camp, but keep your eyes locked here—and listen to our own Cecil Lammey on 104.3 the Fan in Denver - to make sure you have all the information.

New England Patriots TE Martellus Bennett (knee) had a minor injury scare at one point in practice Wednesday, June 8, during minicamp. The veteran was attended to by the training staff, focusing on his left knee. After a brief absence he was able to return to drills and team work. Bennett worked with FB James Develin and fellow TEs A.J. Derby and Michael Williams on blocking drills.

The Patriots are going to be able to do a lot with Bennett and Rob Gronkowski this year. Bennett has yet to fully play up to his potential, but the opportunity is there with a high-powered offense like the Patriots.

Dallas Cowboys LB Sean Lee (knee) said he would be shocked if he was not ready for the start of training camp. Lee believes he's on pace to be on the field when that time comes.

New York Jets QB Geno Smith has thrown to Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown, New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. and Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry this offseason. Landry said eight or nine players gathered twice a week for workouts in South Florida.

                                [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith is at the top of the depth charts for the Jets...at this time. Ryan Fitzpatrick is still out there, and the team may end up bringing him back after a long and drawn out courtship in free agency. If he's actually the starter, we don't see Smith as anything more than a QB3 for fantasy owners.

SF - QB Colin Kaepernick focused on football

                                Source: The Denver Post

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick doesn't anticipate any issues between him and the organization this season, even after requesting a trade earlier in the year. 'I'm here, I'm a 49er, I'm excited for this offseason, the work that I can put in this summer to get ready for training camp and to come in and compete,' Kaepernick said. Kaepernick (shoulder, thumb, knee), who had multiple offseason surgeries, also expects to be healthier and bulkier when training camp rolls around.

                                [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kaepernick's career has fallen off, and we're not sure he can resurrect it this season with the 49ers. When healthy, Kaepernick will have to beat out Blaine Gabbert for the starting job. On paper, Kaepernick seems like a good fit for the Chip Kelly offense...but we're not overly optimistic about it.

CLE - Cody Kessler contract terms

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns QB Cody Kessler's four-year rookie deal is worth $3.4 million. It includes a $660,000 signing bonus and just over $1.1 million in guaranteed money.

                                [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We believe Robert Griffin III wins this job, but if Kessler does win, we'd avoid him. Though in all honesty we are really only interested in Griffin because of his upside. We are generally avoiding Cleveland's quarterback situation.

MIN - WR Charles Johnson must earn roster spot

Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Matt Vensel

Minnesota Vikings WR Charles Johnson will need to earn his way onto the Vikings' roster this season, in the opinion of Matt Vensel of The Minneapolis Star Tribune. Johnson lost his starting spot to WR Stefon Diggs last season, and now he'll have to compete with rookie WR Laquon Treadwell and WR Cordarrelle Patterson. Johnson needs to prove himself even more after playing in just 23 games the last two seasons combined.

                                [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson is talented so we don't think he will get the boot but this group and passing offense is a bit shaky so we aren't going to invest heavily in it anyway.

Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff officially signed his four-year rookie deal Thursday, June 9, and it'll be worth $27.9 million with an $18.6 million signing bonus. Goff's deal will include a fifth-year option.

                                [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Goff is the guy in Los Angeles (man that still sounds weird) but he has a steep learning curve, few good receivers and a fantastic running back who will carry the load. At most, consider him a QB3.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz struggled during his red zone series in practice Thursday, June 9, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane. Wentz did complete a touchdown pass during the sequence but was also intercepted in his final throw after zeroing in on his target and over clutching. He had a single completion in four pass attempts.

                                [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's expected as he is in a brand new offense, with new receivers and he's coming from a far simpler scheme. Wentz might win the starting job, but we still think Sam Bradford is the guy to tap although only as a decent QB3.

There's a lot swirling around here as Seferian-Jenkins tweeted out (then deleted) MOVING ON, later replacing it with a tweet that he won't let the negative stuff get to him. Rumor later had it that coach Dirk Koetter was annoyed that Seferian-Jenkins seemed lost on the field. If he can get it together we think he should put up decent TE2 numbers this year, but this is worth monitoring.

Free-agent RB Dan Herron (Colts) signed an undisclosed deal with the Buffalo Bills Thursday, June 9.

                                [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

While "Boom" Herron has been more of a "Bust" Herron so far in his career, he's good depth for the Bills to have on hand. LeSean McCoy is already nursing a minor injury, and we saw how quickly things went downhill last year once injuries hit. Don't draft Herron, but be aware of him if things go sideways in the Bills backfield again this season.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) has been absent for the first two days of practice at minicamp as he continues to recover from a foot injury.

Injuries to Patriots players are always tricky as we never truly know the severity. The team is quite clandestine with injured players, so we'll go off the assumption that Edelman will be brought along slowly with an eye on him being ready for training camp.

SF - RB Carlos Hyde to be key in passing game

                                  Source: 49ers.com - Joe Fann

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde is excited that he'll be a focal point in the passing attack in 2016. 'I think it's something that's overlooked, but this year we may get to see it,' Hyde said. 'I like playing receiver. It's another opportunity to get out in space and get the ball in your hands.'

                                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're not thrilled about the 49ers offense, but we will be interested in adding Hyde to our fantasy rosters at the right price. The rest of the offense is filled with question marks, but Hyde could take advantage of rushing lanes (and cutback lanes) in Chip Kelly's system. His current ADP of RB18 (4.07) in 12-team PPR leagues seems about right for what his value could be this season, and there's a chance he could finish the year just inside the top 15 for fantasy RBs.

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor said he feels more in command of the offense this year and has earned the trust of his teammates with the preparation he puts in.

It's Taylor's second year in the offense, so it makes sense that he would be more comfortable. The run-heavy nature of the Bills offense is going to keep the numbers down for Taylor, but his rushing ability helps make him a better fantasy asset. We see him as a QB2 with upside in 2016. Taylor has a current ADP of QB19 (12.02) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Kaepernick ran the Pistol offense in college at Nevada, and there are similarities to what Kelly does on offense in the pros. He'll be utilizing the inside-zone or outside-zone reads to move the chains. On paper, Kaepernick makes a great fit for Kelly's offense....but he'll need to prove it on the field.

WAS - CB Josh Norman likes new defense

Source: The Washington Post - Dan Steinberg

Washington Redskins CB Josh Norman said he has a good understanding of the team's defense and likes that he will be given a little more freedom on the field under defensive coordinator Joe Barry.

Norman is a player just coming into his own as a pro. He was a star last year for the Panthers defense, and we have a feeling he's going to be extra motivated this year after the way things fell apart in Carolina. Norman and Bashaud Breeland give Washington a fine starting duo at the CB position.

Cincinnati Bengals CB William Jackson III, the team's first-round pick, signed a four-year deal worth $9.705 million Friday, June 10. The deal includes a $5.258 signing bonus as well as a fifth-year option.

                                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson was one of our favorite CBs in this draft class. According to NFL.com, Jackson only allowed 40 percent of passes thrown his way to be completed over last two years. He's got the speed to get into the back pocket of a receiver, and he provides great downfield coverage. Jackson has a nose for the ball, and he can make plays at the point of the catch. Once the interception is secured, Jackson has the athleticism to be a threat to score from anywhere on the field. He's going to compete as a sub-package CB this year for the Bengals, but he's got the future upside to be an impact starter in the NFL.

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota appears to have a better grasp of the offense and has been a true leader during offseason workouts, according to DT Jurrell Casey.

                                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mariota should have a better grasp of the offense entering his second season. The team is built around their rushing attack featuring both DeMarco Murray and rookie Derrick Henry, so that should keep things simpler for Mariota when going to the air. We love his dynasty value, but in re-draft leagues we can only recommend Mariota as a low-end QB2. His current ADP is QB16 (10.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.

We'll be happy to see Haden back to full strength for the Browns this year. When healthy, Haden has shutdown corner upside and can be a player opposing QBs have to stay away from. Cioffi said he expects Haden to be ready for the start of the season and believes he can be a Pro Bowl player in 2016.

With Travis Benjamin (Chargers) moving on in free agency, the Browns are looking for a WR1 and the rookie Coleman may be that guy. Watch to see if he can continue to impress during training camp and the preseason.

Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie said the amount of carries RB DeMarco Murray and RB Derrick Henry receive each game may be determined by how they are playing that game.

Their rushing attack could frustrate fantasy owners in 2016. Murray is the top guy, but Henry is impressive enough as a two-down back to get some work as well. Right now, Murray has an ADP of RB19 (4.09) while Henry is going off the board as RB51 (12.11) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Arizona Cardinals FS Tyrann Mathieu's contract talks have been put on hold, but that doesn't mean a deal won't be reached before training camp, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. If a deal is reached, it's expected to be worth around $11 million per season, which would make him the highest-paid safety and put him among the highest-paid defensive backs.

The Cardinals want to reward Mathieu with a new contract, but they need to be cautious with how the deal is structured due to his injury history. Talks are done right now, but they could strike up again as the regular season draws near.

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry has impressed the team with his hands as a receiver, which head coach Mike Mularkey said makes Henry even more dangerous.

Henry had below-average hands on film at Alabama, and we're not sure he's completely turned that around now in a few practices with the Titans. The rookie is a big back who can finish, and he reminds many in the scouting community of former Giants RB Brandon Jacobs. Henry will work in a RBBC with DeMarco Murray this season.

Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders received a contract proposal last week from the team, and his agent recently sent back a counter offer.
                                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Broncos seem intent on keeping Sanders around for the foreseeable future. With this QB situation in Denver, Sanders should see his numbers stay around what they were last year. Gone are the days of the Manning pass-happy offense. The Broncos are going to run as much as possible and limit what they do through the air. That makes Sanders more of a WR3 for fantasy owners. His current ADP is WR27 (5.06) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Updating a previous report, San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen's four-year contract extension is worth more than $11 million per year, according to a source.

A lacerated kidney ended his 2015 season, but if healthy we all know that Allen can be a dominant force on offense. Allen should be a WR1 for fantasy owners in 2016, and offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt has got to make him the centerpiece of the offense.
