    Sweetpete's Picks 10/23-25
(5-4 LW, back over the .500 mark, whoopee!)

Games to look forward to down the road...

    1) Washington/Washington St.--Apple Cup....This may be the first game in football gambling history where both teams are underdogs

    2) ACC Championship Game....The fact that any team from this conference gets to make a BCS game shows what a joke the system is.

    3) Army vs. Navy...Does anyone not associated with the military actually watch this game?

THIS WEEKS PICKS (all spreads legendz or betonline)

    PICK #1
    W. VIRGINIA -2.5 (-115, bought .5 at betonline) vs. Auburn
After losing to Arkansas and firing the offensive coordinator, I'm assuming Auburn is throwing in the towel this season. Their defense (previously the strength of the team) allowed a gazillion yards to an inept Ark. offense. Pat White will be highly motivated for this game due to his Alabama connections and WVs underacheiving performance sets up line value. Cool weather in Morgantown is a tough task for anyone. W. Virg. 20-10

    PICK #2
VIRGINIA TECH +5.5 @ Florida St.
Va Tech has slipped under the radar a bit this year, and their loss to BC last week sets up extra value. On paper, Florida St.'s stats look good, but you need to take in consideration games vs. W. Carolina and Chatanooga. VT on the other hand has won @Nebraska and @UNC, and is battle tested for this game. Special teams are always a huge factor for the Hokies as well. This game will definitely be close.
    Va Tech 20-17

    PICK #3
    KANSAS -1 vs. Texas Tech
The honeymoon is over for the most overrated team in the country. A weak non-conference slate will come back to bite TxTech against what is easily the best team they've seen yet. Tech has trouble stopping the pass and QB Reesing is starting to hit his stride. KU may have trouble stopping Tech's offense, but with the home advantage and effective QB play, should be able to knock off the Red Raiders.
    Kansas 42-38

    more picks to come......

I don't know why I put 'Miami' instead of FSU. Oops.

GL Pags--I know we differ on the Aub/WV game. Should be interesting

          PICK #4
MISSOURI -22 vs. Colorado BEST BET:
Missouri Coach Gary Pinkel has proven to us that he can't compete with the top dogs (Oklahoma, Texas) but he loves to beat up on the weaker Big 12 Teams. Mizzou is a huge disappointment, but I find it hard to believe they've packed it in for the year. They should still make the Big 12 Championship game and this will be the first many consecutive victories towards that goal. Mizzou destroyed Colorado LY, and should be able to please the Homecoming crowd. Chase Daniel will put up huge numbers. MIZZOU 56-21

            PICK #5
            S. FLORIDA -4 @ Louisville
South Florida has trouble at times playing down to their competition. They struggled on the road vs. UCF and Flor. Int'l. Louisville has improved from their opening loss to Kentucky. After the Pitt loss, USF must win out to have a chance at a BCS game. Their passing attack matches up great against a weak L'ville pass defense, and the Bulls stout pass defense should keep Hunter Cantwell in check. USF is the superior team, and I'm banking on them not playing down to a mediocre L'ville squad.
            USF 34-17

            PICK #6
            ILLINOIS -2.5 @ Wisconsin
After two heartbreaking losses (Ohio St./Michigan) and two blowout losses (Penn St./Iowa), I find it hard to believe that Wisconsin will all of a sudden put it all together against a strong Illinois offense. Juice Williams has been lighting it up lately. Despite a 2-2 league record, they are a strong team and are sure to point up points. Wisconsin's offense has sputtered in Big 10 play so it's hard to imagine they'll be matching scores with the Illini. After their Nat. Title hopes faded, It appears as if the Badgers may have thrown in the towel. Illinois 34-24

                PICK #7
                LSU pk vs. Georgia
LSU is healthier than they have been and with Keiland Williams back in the lineup, they should have enough to beat Georgia. LSU responded perfectly on defense LW after the slaughter by Florida. Georgia's offense isn't as good as Florida's, and with the home crowd behind them, I think LSUs defense will repeat last week's performance. Georgia has been overrated from the start and really hasn't beaten a quality team. LSU 24-14
