    All the Iowa Love??
Very intrigued by all the Iowa love. They lost to Pitt (who is bad), and also lost at home to Northwestern. Michigan State has trouble with teams that run the spread (Indiana/Cal), which Iowa obviously does not. Pro style offenses, like Iowa or Notre Dame, have trouble moving the ball vs. Michigan State.

This will be an old Big 10 slobberknocker. Ball control, field position, and lots of key 3rd down conversions. I think Iowa could cover the 8, but to love that bet so much from a team that lost to Pitt and Northwestern, and it's a road game, is surprising.

They have a better defense and are basically equal on offense with MSU. Michigan State is much too inconsistent a team to keep covering as a favorite as they have in their previous 3 games. Anyone who watched the MSU/IU game knows that MSU was fortunate to win the game outright, let alone cover the inflated spread. I took Iowa myself at +8.5.....

Pitt is not bad, they are a team that always plays up to or down to their competition. Basically my reasoning for Iowa is that the line is just way to high in what should be a competitive tough game.

        Not sure,

How much better they are defensively.....if Iowa ran the spread, I would agree with you. MSU defense has been very solid the past 2 seasons vs. run-oriented offenses, which will happen Saturday. Indiana and Iowa play nothing alike.

They lost to Pitt. Pitt is bad. They lost to Northwestern. Northwestern is mediocre.

If MSU has covered in it's 3 games as a favorite, I'd call that consistent, regardless of how they have done it.

They may cover, but calling it a lock is sketchy......I don't like the game either way, just a small teaser with MSU at -2.5

Pitt is not bad....they are unproven thus far IMO. Northwestern is also a little more than mediocre by the way.

            Pitt,

Looked AWFUL in their home loss to Bowling Green (who got rolled by a bad Minny team the next week).

They also looked AWFUL for an entire game vs. Syracuse, a team everyone else has dominated.

I guess we'll see more about them tonight, but 2 games I have watched they have not been good.

Minny is not that bad this year, and when they beat up bowling green that was expected as it was a payback game for getting beat at home last year to BG.

As far as looking bad at Syracuse like I have said before they always play down or up to their competitions skill level.

MSU is has always been a horrible favorite team ATS over the years. They may be turning it around, but that remains to be seen. The fact of the matter is that Iowa features the better defense and offensively they are statistically up there with MSU. However, MSU has played a slightly more difficult schedule to be fair. I feel Iowa will be very competitive in this game and outside of this game being played in East Lansing, I don't see any other discernable advantages for MSU (i.e. coaching, defense, special teams, etc....).

                Good luck....

Oh there is no question that Iowa is superior defensively THIS year, which is all that matters. And Hawkeyes had over 400 yards vs. Northwestern and would have dominated if not for five turnovers.

                    lol

MSU offense is better than Iowa offense... Don't kid yourself.

The difference between the offenses is much smaller than the difference between the defenses, where Iowa is MUCH stronger.

                        Right,

Iowa's defense has been stronger but against inferior offenses, IMO. They certainly haven't played an offense as good as Cal.

That's fine, but that's not the reality that we are observing right now. Iowa is being bet not becuase they have nicer school colors, but because the line when it opened up was not a fair line given all the existing information out there. In other words, it was a biased line and now the betting markets are correcting for that. Sure, maybe MSU covers, that's fine too but that's not the point. The point is that Iowa should not be a +9.5 dog to MSU and the number will eventually settle on a fair price for this matchup. If you like MSU you should wait a bit and see if you can get MSU at -7.

                            BuddyBear,

Not really disputing that at all, and hopefully noone is betting on school colors (except women filling out NCAA Tournament brackets).

I am not saying bet MSU, even -7. I have them teased to -2.5 with SFlorida.

Either way, should be a very good game Saturday.

I hopped on Iowa at (+9.5) because Michigan State just isnt that good IMO. Iowa isn't a great team but they will keep it in single digits. Slight shocker if Iowa wins though.
