    Who plays CFB Teasers?
I am somewhat of a numbers junkie, and I take a look at the lines and what the outcome would be if teased in any 7 point direction.

I broke the lines down into subsets of

    0-7 points
    7.5-14 points
    14.5-24 points
    24.5 and greater

I further subdivided the sets into home dogs and home favs.

    Two interesting finds.....

A Home Favorite of 7.5-14 Points teased down 7 points have a cumulative record of 28-5 this football season.

A Home Favorite of 14.5-24 teased down 7 points is not as productive, having a record of 20-5 for this football season.

The rest of the subsets don't have particularly strong numbers.

As for that first group...the 7.5-14 point Home Favorite....that group is 15-3 in just the last two weeks.

Teams that fit the profile this week.

    Iowa -9
    Miami, Fl -8.5
    East Carolina -11
    Clemson -11
    Penn State -14
    San Diego State -11

So, if you play teasers...these are your lines where value is most often found.

When i get a couple of 6-8.5 point favorites that i think will win outright but could be a 3 point win as easily as a 3 touchdown win i'll put them together in 6 point teaser at even money, only loss so far this year was because of ECU last week. When i get some time i will go back to 1985 and check the record of this to see if there is any edge to be had.

        martin,

just my two cents...many years ago I used to play college teasers and found it to be a pretty shaky proposition...I say that because so many college games don't end near the number (where as a lot of NFL games do)...I also have a couple of friends that run local sportsbooks in town and they welcome college teaser action...not that you can't win making these types of plays, but I think you are better off making straight wagers...

you are so right, a teaser is just a parlay with worse odds..

they lose as much as parlays.. just bet em staight

              Pags,

I completely agree with you. The info I posted was just a product of my database. I am just a numbers junkie. I break things down by line/point differential just to see where the largest variations come from.

As Boomer said, Teasers are a sucker bet, and I agree with that.

The only value....is a straight play.
