2008 College Football 1-0
5 Picks (all lines Legendz):
USC -20 @ Virginia
A risky pick considering Sanchez has to prove himself, but UVa will have a hard time moving the ball against a stout USC defense. USC has proven they can blow people out on the road (beat Arkansas 50-14 two years ago) and like the S.Car. win thurs night, will break away aganst an inexperienced Virginia team in the second half. USC 31-7
Oklahoma St. -7 @ Washington St.
OSU should be able to walk all over Washington St. Zac Robinson is a dynamic QB, and the COwboys should score 35+ pts. Wazzu has a new QB and if they fall behind early, they'll lose the 'home' advantage (Seattle) and OSU could blow them out. OSU 38-20
East Carolina +9 vs. Va Tech
ECU returns 16 starters from an eight win team and actually outplayed VT last year for most of the 1st half. There's no reason to think that VT will be better than last year, and LY the Hokie offense was nothing to sing about. But, Beamer always has one hell of a special teams unit. Nine pts. is a lot here. ECU has their best team in a long time and I think pulls off an upset. ECU 23-21
Western Michigan +14.5 @ Nebraska
W. Mich returns 17 starters and has a history of playing well against BCS teams (won @ Iowa LY). I'm always hesitant betting on new HCs and even thought Nebraska will probably be decent this year, with only 11 returning starters I'm not laying 2 TDs against a quality team. Neb. barely beat Ball St. at home last year. Broncos keep it close.
Neb. 38-28
Wyoming -11.5 vs. Ohio
As we saw thursday with UTEP, when subpar teams travel long distances so early in the season, it can be disasterous. Wyoming is nothing special, but playing at such a high elevation so far from home will do Ohio in. They have a lot of questions on offense (losing their top RB) and Wyoming has a fairly solid defense. I think Wyom. has more reason to be motivated here, trying to start off the season at home on the right foot, and coasts against an inferior Bobcat team.
Wyom. 24-7
