Longhorns spring game report: QB Colt McCoy
.. was shaky and a little dissapointing. His numbers were 7-11 for 75 yards with a touch and a pick. He was not comfortable in fact he was nervous in the pocket, hurrying throws, staying with the primary, and not wanting to go downfield.

I wish I had better news for the Longhorn faithful. Texas will still have a tremendous ground attack compliments of one of the best offensive lines in the country and tons of talent at RB. The defense is deep.

But redshirt freshman QB Colt McCoy is a project in very raw form at this point. 2nd on the depth chart is Jevan Sneed who played decent still has a legit shot to be the starter against The Mean Machine of North Texas come Sept 2nd.

I saw the game on NFL network. Mack says he is not going to change the offense. I would think he is just saying that now so teams won't know what to prepare for because there is no way he can run that offense with out Fumbles McScramble.

In all my criticism of Vince, I still beleive he is the kind of QB that can have wonderful success in college, but his game just translates horribly to the NFL. Its been proven time and time again.

I need to be GM of a team so I can show them how to do it. i need connections.

Yeah, they televised it. i dunno about anymore though. Last year, it seems alot more were televised on the Fox sports channels. Only the big name programs though like USC, Texas, and Ohio State.

It's still hard to get a feel as they don't run anything special plus EVERYONE plays.

To me, it has the flavor of an NFL preseason game. Where you just watch it because you are going through football withdrawl.

This Saturday guys the OU Red/White Game at 1 pm cst on espn. Ill be at the game just to check out the new DB's and the progression of Bomar. I think AP is gonna be wearing a blue jersey cause Stoops dont want him to huirt the ankle again. So if you looking for him than it might not be a good game to watch. His back-up is pretty good. Might get the job after AP leaves even though DeMarco Murray has signed.

Replacing a guy like Young is no easy task. Believe me. I thought after Jason White left, that Thompson or Bomar would just go in and whoop ass. Last season was a rude awakening for Sooner fans. But OU lost way too many players when White left so I dont see UT being as bad as OU was the 1st half of the season. But than again since they are in the South its gonna be a tougher task. If they were in the North they would win with any QB.

OU had a great run and managed to retool every year. Years's like last year are impossible to avoid unless you are getting USC type talent coming in every year.

UT I think has Ohio St in week 2. We will know pretty quick if the horns have any chance to win it again.

Will be interesting to see both A&M and Texas have QBs named McCoy next year. The 'horns will either work this kid out all summer until he does get better, or find someone to plug in for him.

                        BigBoy,
OU will be better. They still have a great defense. But the ground attack is gone and I don't see them controlling the ball and wearing teams down. I think sooner faithful would take 8-3 and not think twice.

It might be good for Mccoy to not have a
outstanding spring game or else every one would
be thinking he was all ready as good as Vince.
Hes fast as shit and will learn better now to run
Macks offense. Let every one think hes not to
good and then it will be a good suprise this fall
                            when he starts kicking ass.

With Peterson still there, the ground game is gonna be just as good as 2 years ago as long as AD stays healthy. Last year the ground game was gone but this year should not be a problem. John, OU faithful will never be happy with 8-3. Any more than 1 or 2 losses is way tooo many.

Curse - Im sure McCoy is a good QB but VERY VERY rare in ncaa does it happen that a freshmen QB comes in (he is a redshirt and hasnt taken a snap so its almost like being a freshmen) and dominates. It feels like anyone can step and whoop ass especially when you have just seen your team win it all so they seem invinceable.

REMEMBER one thing guys. When you are the champ, EVERYONE brings their A game. YOU better believe that OSU remembers what happened last year at the horseshoe.

OU should definately be in the BCS this year. They'll beat Texas. thats about as close to a lock as you can have right now. Ohio State is a toss-up game and Texas will lose one more additional game.

OU has some trouble spots though. Bomar is highly thought of and has talented receivers to throw too. Hopefully he has a Leinart type of sophomore year that put him on the radar. If i was a OU fan, I'd be concearned about the offensive line as that wasa problem last year. Also, they're DB's don't seem as talented now as they were a handful of years ago with Williams, Strait, Perkins, Woolfolk, etc. I hear everyoner is high on reggie Smith, but i'd say as a neutral fan, those would be my 2 biggest worries if i was a OU fan.

                                    Chris Chase
The winningest quarterback in college football history may be cut before he has a chance to take a single meaningful snap in the NFL.
Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Colt McCoy(notes) is "on the bubble" to make the team's final 53-man roster, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Coaches are reportedly more impressed with veteran newcomers Jake Delhomme(notes) and Seneca Wallace(notes), possibly leaving the third-round pick as a camp casualty.
If McCoy is cut, it would cap a stunning fall for one of the most decorated college quarterbacks in history. During his time at Texas, McCoy led the Longhorns to an NCAA-record 45 wins and set a single-season mark for completion percentage (76.7 in 2008). Before last season, many draft insiders had the QB as a
top-10 pick and he was expected to contribute at the professional level.
                                    [Related:
10 under-the-radar NFL rookies to watch]
The transition from college greatness to pro success is no guarantee, as Jason White, Danny Wuerffel, Andre Ware and many others can attest. McCoy, however, figured to make the jump. The injury he suffered in this year's national championship derailed his start and helped drop him to 85th in the draft, so it's not like he was expected to immediately step into a starring role like top pick
Sam Bradford(notes). But to be cut before his first regular season? That would be a bit of a stunner.
This is still all conjecture though. There are two preseason games left for McCoy to prove himself and I'd imagine the Cleveland QB battle is closer than the Plain Dealer lets on. Delhomme and Wallace were available this offseason for a reason, after all.
At some point, Colt McCoy will get a shot to play in the NFL. It just may not be with the Cleveland Browns.
