Headliner: Baker Steinkuhler. 5 star recruit, #2 OT in the nation, had offers from every school, went to HS at Lincoln (NE) Lincoln Southwest. Steinkuhler was rated the best run blocker in the nation by rivals they went on to say, "Simply a beast who wants to destroy the player in front of him". Rivals also rated him as the strongest offensive lineman in this class, "Once he locks you up, the battle is over."
Their 2nd most highly rated recruit is Will Compton. he is an athlete out of Missouri. He was rated the #3 player out of that state and the #34 athlete overall. Athlete just means that he may end up at a number of position. Hes a 6-2, 214lb, kid thats been clocked at 4.5. He is projected as a linebacker. He had offers from big shcools like ND and Michigan.
Their other 4 star recruit is a young man named David Whitmore. Whitemore is a 6-2 DB that was rated the #21 Cb in the nation by rivals. he has great size and good speed. he held offers from just about everyone in the big-12. He comes to Lincoln from Port Authur Texas.
Following the 5 star recruit and then the 4 star kids, there are a bunch of solid 3 star commits. Ben Cotton is a 6-6 TE from Ames Iowa. He held offered from Iowa, Kanas, and Lousiville. He'll likely redshitr this year coming in at only 216lbs. Cotton was the #2 player in the state of iowa and the 25th ranked TE in the nation.
Next up is Alfonzo Dennard, a burner of a Db out of North Carolina. He committed early to Butch Davis and the tarheels, but he switched his committment to UNC at the end of Jan. This kid had tons of offers and has been clocked at 4.4 in the 40. Dennard has some grade issues to clear up, but he seems to be heading for Lincoln and coach Pelini is very excited about having him. Alfonzo played both ways in HS, but he'll get his first look on defense when he gets to Nebraska.
Another all-conference potential talent is next. Sean Fisher is a 6-5 LB from Omaha (NE). He may be moved to DE at some point, but he played LB last season. Fisher runs a 4.6 and had offers from Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Ark as well as many others.
Cameron Meredith is a big 6-4, 222 lb DE that rated as the #13 weakside DE in the nation. He comes to Lincoln from California and held offers from oregon, washington, oklahoma and many others. Meredith has been described as a guy whos motor never stops and he was a top priority this year for the NU coaching staff. getting the California connection is big for all schools, but getting this talent on the dline was crucial to this class. Look for Meredith to get a shot to compete early.
Collins Okafor is a beat of a RB and was the #3 HS player in the state of Nebraska. his decision came down to Nebraska and Standford, here is what he had to say:
there is a little nugget on Marlon Lucky (former 5 star recruit) for you.

Collins Okafor is a beat of a RB and was the #3 HS player in the state of Nebraska. his decision came down to Nebraska and Standford, here is what he had to say:
""I liked Stanford a lot," Okafor said. "It came down to the decision when my mom asked me 'if Coach (Jim) Harbaugh wasn't at Stanford, would you still go there?' I said 'no.' I like Coach Harbaugh, because he's a great guy and we really get along. She also asked me if 'Coach Pelini wasn't at Nebraska, would you still go there.' I told her 'yes.'
"When I sat down with Pelini, he wasn't afraid to talk to me like it was the first day of practice. That was impressive. As a defensive coach, he pretty much laid it out there. He told me if you want to de-commit, de-commit now. I was like 'wow, as a head coach, that's saying a lot.' He was honest. He's never had a losing record and he's a Nebraska guy."
Okafor said he was also impressed with newly named running backs coach Tim Beck.
"(Beck) is a great guy," Okafor said. "He's a funny guy. He likes to eat like me. He was telling me about Buffalo Wild Wings. He's pretty basic. He's calm, he knows his stuff. He knows a lot about receivers, but he also knows a lot of the physical and mental aspects of a running back too."
Okafor was hosted this weekend by NU running back Marlon Lucky. Like Okafor, Lucky was wavering on a decision involving the Huskers.
Lucky still hasn't come out officially and said he will be returning for his senior season, but Okafor said the senior-to-be from North Hollywood told him he'll be back in Lincoln next fall.
"He's coming back next year," Okafor said. "That's what he told me.
"It's good, as a young guy like me, going into the college system, it's good to have an older guy that you can see in front of you to compete against."
