Machine Reports 1-2
I could sum this game up in a few words: Weeden to Blackmon. Tonight we have OSU's #2 offense in the country (pts scored) against the #108 defense in pts allowed.
Let's look at OSU's pts scored this year against defenses they've played (scores/rank)
65/116
41/87
65/98
38/41
Remember, Lafayette's defense is ranked #108 and that's against a weak schedule (Georgia isn't very good this year on offense).
Now, here's how Lafayette has scored this year against defenses they've played. O-State's defense is ranked 92 in points allowed.
7/47
31/107
14/82
28/80
Those last two teams played very weak schedules relative to Ok State's. UL-Lafayette will probably score around 24 points against OK State's defense. So can OSU get to 49 points and cover? I'll go back to my first comments: Weeden to Blackmon all night.
OSU is 4-1 ATS head to head against Lafayette this year when you factor in today's spread against previous game results against similarly or better ranked competition (MOV vs SOS). Normally I would say that the danger in this game is OSU not being prepared for a weaker opponent. But not tonight: this is OSU's first road game and they are the only show tonight besides Rutgers. Plus they've had three more days to prepare than ULL.
OSU -24 big time!
