Machine Report: Nebraska at Kansas State
    Machine Reports: 1-1

Nebraska's freshman QB going into a rabid Manhatan, Kansas under lights in prime time has me drooling...to fade him, especially after his performance against South Dakota State. After running the strength of schedules against MOV/ML (which I unfortunately did not do for the UCF game tonight...my stats showed UCF winning by 22 when I went back and ran them) I have Kansas State almost dead even with Nebraska. Nebraska has played NO ONE, and yes I include Washington in that (Sagarin rank of only 50). Nebraska has had trouble stopping the run against weak competition, and that is exactly want Kansas State excels at. Both teams will be able to rush the ball, (Nebraska pounds it!) but that means a somewhat low-scoring and tight game. Factor in the home-field advantage and I have K-State giving Nebraska all they can handle.

Seeing UCF blow out UAB tonight only makes Kansas State's last win more impressive for me. Nebraska will definitley be able to rush the ball, but so will K-State. The difference: Coffman is a more reliable thrower than the freshman Martinez, and Coffman gets home cooking. Wildcats hang close in a thriller.

    Kansas State +11

K-State is extremely lucky to have their record.

Nebraska will win easily and shouldnt have many problems covering the spread.

Really. C'mon, now you mention this?

Alright, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

You're not as frustrated as I am when I realized it.

Run it for yourself tonight before they change the rankings:
            1. List each team they've played.
            2. Go to Sagarin ratings and list each oponent's rank next to the team.
            3. Take each team's margin of victory (or loss) [MOV] over each opponent and SUBTRACT it from the opponent's ranking. Low numbers are better than high numbers.
            4. Add up the totals.
            5. Average them.
            6. Compare the two averages side by side.
            7. UCF by 22

If I had done this and included it in my PF/PA splits analysis, I may not have taken UAB. Probably wouldn't. Then again, I mentioned at the start of my write-up that it was a risky game. I accepted the risk, I lost.

After seeing how dominate Nebraska was in Washington I will stay away from this one.

By the way, runing the above sceanrio on tomorrow's game yields:

                  K-State: 64
                  Nebraska: 66

That's K-State winning by 2 (and no I'm not saying the score will be in the 60's, that's not the point of the stat. It only helps in determining spread). Of course, this is not the only stat that should be considered. You have to look at the game plans and team strengths.

No, I know, my approach is similar; it's one part of the process.

For a second I just that you were backtracking on it.

                    I understand what you're saying.

Anyway, for the weekend, I've spotted some appreciable value with Virginia, Minnesota, Utah, Rutgers, N.C. State, L.S.U. and, unsurprisingly, with 'Bama using my indeces for what it's worth.

I have a feeling that there will be a score by one of the teams in the last few minutes that will effect the spread. I just wish my feeling told me if it will be Nebraska or K State.

Machine...ever heard of TAYLOR MARTINEZ? By the end of the game you will remember his name!

I like the part where you say the game will be a thriller!!!

Nebraska is very good this year...
