What if OSU pulls out a few nail bitters from now until the end of the year, and what if Prior is sidelined with more injury problems but the team still goes undefeated?

There will never be a playoff, too much money in the Bowl System unfortunately.

look guys what swrong with having 20 teams feel like winners instead of just one? the bowls are a good idea in college. plus why would you want college atheletes that are trying and could possibly go pro playing more games and risking getting hurt. get off the playoff hype. football is different players get hurt a lot more and more games just increase that risk... do you know what happens to football players that get hurt in college when they looked good to go pro? they turn into car salesmen

Why not a simple 6 team playoff?

They could keep the bowl games and add a 8 or 4 team playoff with the first games of the playoff being played in major bowls. Extra 2 games for 8 team and extra one for 4 team. You would think they could make extra money from those games and make it less of a Mythical National Championship.

Onto the question at hand. I think a one loss team jumping undefeated Boise or two undefeated teams playing in BCS Championship with only undefeated Boise out of the mix would cause more of a playoff fever then if 6 teams go undefeated.

When all the Big12/Pac 10 re-alignment posturing was occurring this summer, I read an article that stated a college football playoff system would generate an approximate 900 MILLION ADDITIONAL $'s per year. In my opinion that kind of money makes it inevitable that a playoff system gets instituted, and the only real question is how the established powers that be will split this unbelievably large addition to the pie.

6 team playoff would be cool but i doubt it .
