    BAMA/S.C. Your Thoughts?
Sunday's 5dimes line on the game was -7.5 and by this morning it dropped a whole point to -6.5. Books trying to get early action on BAMA? What's your guys' thoughts and insight into this game?

i thinkt hat south carolina will hang in there for the first half, but in the end alabama will pull away. I say that USC's qb garcia turns the ball over atleast three times by the D line of bama. I see bama winning by atleast 10 points with a steady diet of ingram and richardson.

giving up 7 points doesnt seem that much to me. Defense rules this game for bama 21-7

I like Alabama winning, but it's a game on the road agaisnt a quality opponent off a bye week. also 3rd straight game Bama has to get up and play well to beat a quality opponent. Unless SC knocks Bama out early I believe they will find a way to win..Covering? Don't know about that. I think Bama wins, but this has the makings of a tough game.

stay away gentleman. This will be a tough defensive game. Alabama will face the best defense they have faced all year. This will be close.

Line is confusing with the movement. It begs for Alabama action. SC can come out and win or look like complete ass. I'm laying off.

SC better bring their A game if they expect to win

Look at bama's offensive stats for last game against the gators. They didn't do a whole lot on O (100yds passing and 170 rushing), but still beat the shit out of them. I stopped watching the game after the intercepted jump pass so I don't know the whole story behind the stats...

bama is definitely beatable, but I don't know if the cocks have what it takes to be the ones to do it

bama is in a bad scheduling spot, but Saban has usually overcome these type things on most occassions

SC's 3 wins are against powerhouses S Miss, Furman and a really down, AJ Greenless Georgia

SC may cover, but I would be surprised if they win

This looks like a great spot for my first post. I'm in Tuscaloosa, have some minor insider info but it's pretty common knowledge at this point.

Bama's #1 WR Julio Jones had his knee scoped and is listed as doubtful (I don't think he'll play for the next 2 weeks). That is why the line has already moved 3 points I'd imagine. This has all the makings for a trap game, and last years team is obvious proof it can happen to bama.

Julio is a pretty integral part in our offense not only does he usually draw a double team, but he's one of the top blocking WRs in college football as well. Last year USC had pretty good success stacking 8 in the box and I see them doing the same thing this year. I'd still like to believe Bama will pull this game out but I imagine it'll be a closer game than we'd like.

Thanks for the info. I wondered why the line drop. At the same time, you say SC had success last year stacking 8 in the box. I know the final score was only 20-6, Bama did not beat the -18 spread. And I know they're playing at SC. Nevertheless, last year Ingram ran for 246 yards, a Bryant-Denny record. Any thoughts on that? Especially now that he has Richardson back there to run or alternate with him. Also seems like the Bama defense is coming together. As for SC's defense, Auburn put 35 on them. Southern Miss put up 13. Even FCS Furman put 19 on them. Only team they really held down was GA, limiting them to 6 points without Green. And we've since seen what kind of team Georgia is. Do you really feel Jones absence will make that huge a difference?

I also read where LB Chris Jordan is day-to-day. Any word on that? And on how his absence might affect the game?

Auburn and Alabama run completely different offenses. I believe that Ingram and Richardson will get their yards, but I do not believe they will run all over us. Last year, South Carolina was in the game for the entire game... Alabama didn't take a 2 score lead until about 6 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. We had trouble stopping a mobile quarterback against Auburn... McElroy does not have that threat so I feel that USC will stack the box, stop the run.. put our excellent DBs on an island with the wide receivers of Bama. Gilmore is a lock down corner and would put him up against any WR in the league. SC kept it close last year IN Tuscaloosa without a running game. This year, we have one of the best backs in the country in freshman Marcus Lattimore. The only problem with Lattimore is that we do not have a great offensive line.. but still tends to do well after initial contact. I think that south carolina will win this game. I believe that we have only lost 1 game in the last 8 at home, and that was to Florida last year. In that game, we were within a TD in the 4th quarter until Mr. Garcia threw a pick to the linebacker of Florida. The key is going to be protecting the ball.. if SC does not turn it over, I expect that we will win the game.

and just to address some of your statements earlier... Furman and Southern Miss put points on the board late in the game. Southern Miss had 3 points to my knowledge going late in the 4th quarter... We had our 3rd string defense in... I don't believe Southern Miss picked up but 1 or 2 first downs in the first 3 quarters.. it was not close.

As an Auburn fan i totally agree. I mean we should have lost that game against SC but they had like 2int and 2fumbles in the 4th alone if i remember right. I honestly expect this game to be within a field goal.

This is not a critical game for SC. Yeah, I know they would like nothing better than to beat Bama but FL is the team they really need to beat to win the East. More riding on this for Bama. AL has yet to play a complete game IMO. They will need one here. If they do that without turning it over they should win and cover. If not, well...

This SHOULD be a close game. Don't let the Auburn game fool you, South Carolina is completely different team at home than they are on the road. They played very tough @ Bama last year, and were in it the whole game. Not to mention Bama only found the endzone once, and that was at home. Think South Carolina is much improved since then. Bama just came off their toughest game of the year, while South Carolina had a bye...although none of that matters if Bama is able to run the ball at will like Auburn was.

In terms of hype, and including Florida's first trip to Columbia after Spurrier's hire, this game may be the biggest home game in the history of Williams-Brice Stadium. The Gamecock fans will have the WB "swaying". As a Tide fan, I am much more worried about getting the W than covering the spread in this one. USC willl definitely have the best D the Tide has faced. Hopefully Garcia and his mental lapses will be enough the offset the absence of Julio.

My question for this game is can you depend on SC quarterback against a good defensive team who brings pressure. Looking back at his track record, I would be concerned about his fumbling, decision making and interceptions. He will face the best defense he's faced this year.

I just don't trust the guy against Alabama.
