watch out with that Florida play. UF starting games very slow and Kentucky hasnt been too terrible against the cupcakes they have played. I look for this to be a very close game

Kentucky +14.5 is one of my strongest plays this week actually. Kentucky has generated good offense so far. Florida looks much worse than years past.

Here are my other strong early leans (lines have already moved though)
      Nevada -3
      Stanford -3.5
      Auburn -2.5
      Boston College +4
      Army +6.5

Hate to sound like a broken record but.....................

Kentucky is a solid (not great) team.
Florida is a good (not nearly as good) team.
Kentucky will be the best team Florida has faced yet this season.
Florida has Alabama on tap next week.
Kentucky is playing with tremendous enthusiasm with their new coach.
Florida is making too many mistakes and the play selection is just awful and way predictable.

Florida could cover this line but it will take their best yet performance and Kentucky's worst. I'm a diehard Gator fan but I would give a 50-50 chance of Florida covering and Kentucky winning outright.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

I agree, Wal. UF has beaten UK so badly the last couple years that it may be difficult to maintain focus on the Cats with Bama on deck. 50-50 chance on the cover sounds about right. Should be about 28-14 maybe.

Ok cool... at home -13.. I think Florida is a bit undervalued this year. I do agree that Kentucky is much better, and Florida is much worse but 13 is tough to pass especially since the last 2 weeks Florida has covered. Either way thanks...

ANy thoughts on Oregon -10? or How about Va Tech -4 at BC? Va Tech could be hitting their stride now and they are still prolly the best team in the ACC...

Wal did you mean 50-50 chance ATS or 50-50 chance SU? Your last statement there was mixed. I thought you were saying Kentucky +14 is the play...

The last time Kentucky beat UF...

                  - O. J. Simpson becomes the first Heisman Trophy winner elected to the Football Hall of Fame.

                  - Steve Wozniak leaves Apple Computer

-"New York, New York" becomes the official city anthem of New York City.

                  - Mikhail Gorbachev becomes Soviet leader.

                  - US Vice President George H. W. Bush announces that New Hampshire teacher Christa McAuliffe will become the first schoolteacher to ride aboard the Space Shuttle (see Space Shuttle Challenger).

                  - Baseball: Pete Rose gets his 4,192nd career base hit, breaking Ty Cobb's record which stood for over 60 years.

                  - Steve Jobs resigns from Apple Computer.

                  - The first Blockbuster Video store opens in Dallas, Texas.

                  - In New York City, Mafia bosses Paul Castellano and Thomas Bilotti are shot dead , making hit organizer John Gotti the leader of the Gambino family.

I think it's pretty safe to say that UK will NOT beat the Gators this weekend. I think the game will be close at half but UF will cover in the 2nd half. UK always has good offenses (even though their OG Hines is out) and they have quick LB's and good secondary. But they are going to get pounded on in the running game and their special teams are still special Olympic like. Plus they have a walk on FG kicker.

I expect to see UK run a 2 TE set but UF's defense will neutralize Cobb and Locke and force Hartline to make mistakes. UF with a late cover.

its really nice to see people on kentucky, but being from kentucky we have no defens, and our offense is cobb and locke, nothing else, Florida will cover prob by half time...yea yea i know florida is a different team, but uk is not, so what we beat akron, wku, and louisville. Put your money on Florida

Right now my gut says FLA doesnt cover, will be close to it I would say 10-12pt victory, a softer defense gives up some points in the 4th. VT at -4 vs a soft BC team looks good, BC took some time to put Kent St away and VT will start to focus in during ACC season

Huh? If there's anything guaranteed about UK, it's that UF and UT both own them in football. UT has a longer win streak over UK than UF. The last time UK beat UT, most people in this forum wasn't even born to see it. Yes, I know UT is in a downward spiral but considering the odds, I'd still say UT is the better team.

The last time UK beat UT...

                                - Ronald Reagan defeats Walter Mondale to be re-elected in one of the largest electoral landslide in United States election history.

                                - Boston College Quarterback Doug Flutie throws a game-winning 48-yard Hail Mary pass to Gerard Phelan to defeat the University of Miami Hurricanes 45-41. It is one of the most famous plays in American college football history.

                                - Subway vigilante Bernhard Hugo Goetz shoots four African-American youths on an express train in The Bronx borough of New York City.

History is very much against UK beating UT even this year. UK has some nice tall receivers and I'm sure they may even be favorites when they play UT but I'd bet UT continues the ownage.

This weekend in the Swamp, I expect the same. For whatever reason, no matter what season, UK implodes against UF.
It's in their heads. No reason to think this year is different.

I'm not sure the numbers but I think UF has probably covered the spread 15 of the last 20 games against UK games. There were only about 5 games that were close in that time. The rest were blowouts.

The 50/50 comment wasn't based on anything legit, it was more of an expression type thing, meaning that Florida has about as much of a chance of covering the spread as Kentucky does of beatting Florida straight up. An exaggeration naturally as Florida does have the potential to cover the spread.

All I was really trying to say is Kentucky is better and Florida has very real problems. My opinions are obviously bias due to my love of the Gator's and my disappointment in the way they are performing.

everyone in the SEC knows Fla is suspect right now, UT was just not strong & deep enough to capitalize. UK on the other hand, who knows. Anyone who gives up more than than 2 TD's with this Fla team against a division conference foe needs their head checked

gun to my head id take the points with ken but why play that game when there are gems out there like wake/fsu ov 63.5, S.car catching points, nc st catching to many points, and Stanford going in to south bend to beat some irish ass.

Florida hasn't won by 14 20 years in a row or whatever. Who cares about Florida just winning straight up?

Florida is really young right now and playing with a lot of inexperienced players. This leads to inconsistent play which is bad for business is gambling because you look for trends and common denominators. Trying to guess how a young team like Florida is going to play from week to week is like playing pick a hand...hence the 50/50 prop.

Once they get it they will probably be scary good based on how they recruit, but they are dealing with growing pains right now. To be honest there are so many other games to choose from - it may not even be worth the risk trying to guess pick this one.
