Show my Hawkeyes some respect, homie!
What will it take?
2 Years ago when we went 9-4, all 4 games were lost by a total of 12 points, with some blowout winners among the other games. We snuck into our bowl matchup with South Carolina with a lot of attention focused on the "Big 10 vs. SEC" aspect of the matchup. Thanks, public, for the sick line value.. 31-10, easy money.
Last year, the only reason we fell to Northwestern was due to Stanzi going down.. Not only did that swing all the momentum, but NW scored a TD ON THAT PLAY, which ended up being the difference in the game. Even with the backup in, we nearly took down Ohio State at their place, losing by a field goal in OT.. All good though, a lucky season, surely we won't be able to handle GT's unstoppable rushing attack out of the ACC.. LOL! Again, THANKS for the points, didn't need em, threw down on the ML and cashed that sh*t with ease.
Still this season, we see the Hawkeyes are getting no respect. Tomorrow we head to AZ in a rematch of our 24-14 victory last year, and we are underdogs...
Look, Ferentz might not be the best coach for covering a number, but there's no number to cover this week.. When the spread isn't an issue and all the Hawks need to do is win an important game against a ranked opponent or in a bowl, Ferentz and the Hawks get it done. "Daffy Duck" posted this across the street and it really helps my point.. Take a look at the Hawkeyes recent ATS record in either bowl games or games against top 10 teams:

Perfect 7-0 ATS, 4-1 SU in '08 and '09 with 3 wins as solid dogs and the one loss being in OT against Ohio State, as previously mentioned with our inexperienced backup QB playing the whole game..
This Iowa team has fared well on the road, against .500+ opponents, against ranked opponents, as an underdog, the works. It's pretty simple, pure value for an underrespected team.
The matchup last year showed what our defense is capable of.. Embarrassing QB stats for the Wildcats.. Our defensive line is the best in the nation.. Pressure on the QB, halting the run, they can do it all.. And mistakes happen when Adrian Clayborn is about to drop his entire frame on you, and our athletic secondary will make the Wildcats pay.
I'm not in love with our offense, but everyone thinks it's just bad and our defense is the only reason why we are where we are. While the defense is the heart of this team, our running game is solid with 2 solid backs, and an experienced QB runs the passing game, managing the game well. While he's not dropping 300 yards and 3 scores every week, he gets the job done. Our offensive line is key, and that is why Ferentz gets paid. Year in and out, the line does it's job, and that is the #1 key in a successful offense.
People like flashy Pac-10 offenses who score, and AZ has a D to go with the whole Pac-10 image. No surprise they're gettin love.. No love the the Hawkeyes, though, who play old school fundamental football under Kirk. Block, execute on defense, and go hard on D. Not pretty, just profitable.
Biggest play of this young season on the IOWA HAWKEYES! I'm in at -1.5 EVEN, ML +106, and +1 EVEN. Good luck, GO HAWKEYES!
