    Dapper Capper's Potential P.O.W--Army -2.5 vs. Hawaii
If you look at the history of West Coast teams travelling to the east coast for Noon games, the stats are not in the favor of the Westies. Hawaii has to travel halfway across the world for this one, and will start the game at what I believe would be 7AM local time.

With that aside, Army is the better team anyway. They didn't show their potential against E. Mich, which gives us even more line value here. Hawaii's defense with nothing short of ineffective vs. USC and I can't imagine them mastering the triple option offense in the course of a few practices.

This one looks too good to be true. I may play 10 units here, I just hope the line doesnt jump, as I never bet on saturday games before Friday. Curious if anyone has any thoughts.

    7-6-1 YTD +6.22 Units

everyone thought navy would make the spread against hawaii last year because of navy's triple option. hawaii ended up winning outright by 7 points. hawaii is leaving today to travel so they will have a couple of days to acclimate to the time difference. i think the only reason army is a favorite is because hawaii has to travel that far.

I dunno, Hawaii moved the ball up and down the field on USC, that's the only thing that really gives me pause on going with Army. However just glancing through last year's Army games, they faired pretty well against teams that air it out. They held Andy Schmidt of EMU, who was up and coming until the injury, to a single TD. Same with North Texas; they allowed 31 completions, but only one TD while picking off 3 passes.

USC was able to run on Hawaii at will. I'm thinking Army can do the same. As of right now, I'm leaning toward Army. I don't see the line moving any higher than Army -3; I actually could see it moving the opposite direction. Joe Public will see that Hawaii only lost by 13 to USC, plus the fact that Hawaii is ranked about 20 spots higher on some power rankings and pick the Rainbows.

Good input. I didn't realize that Hawaii was going to fly in early. Even still, all the preseason analysis on Army suggests that they are an improved team this year. Another small angle, is that with Navy losing their opening game I bet Army has high hopes at maybe winning the Commander's Trophy or whatever it is, giving them more adcentive to win.

The incentive is that If they win this game, they'll have the leg up on Navy, and maybe AFA on the COmmander in CHeif Trophy. Again, its a tiny angle, but I'm sure its crossed their minds considering Navy or AFA always win it. Oh, i mistyped it didnt i. thats what you meant

CIC trophy goes to team with best record in service academy games, not best overall record.

It's a good write up overall. The problem is the travel stuff is already built into the line. This is a tough game. I personally hate giving pts with crappy teams.

Take Hawaii, Army isn't that good.
Eastern Michigan is horrible and they had 3 turnovers to Army's 1 otherwise they win.
Army can't pass.....Hawaii wins this one by 10-14 points.

that Munoz kid is for real (Hawaii QB). Quick release, quick feet. If he plays like he did against USC, Hawaii will win SU.

Crackerjack--thanks for the reminder about the CIC trophy. I don't know why i was thinking it was the best overall record.

I really feel like the noon start is the most important factor in this game. These are college kids after all, and ones from Hawaii to boot. UH ain't known for their academics, they usually get home around 7AM, not play a football game. Anywho, we'll see what happens. I just feel like this is an angle that can't be ignored.
