Missouri -13 vs Illinois 1u
The front seven of Missouri on defense are going to be solid against the run and their D-Line is going to be able to generate a good pass rush with Smith coming off of the edge. I also like the defensive backs, all of whom are seniors. The level of experience on this defense is impressive and I fully expect to see them post better scoring numbers and more turnovers despite losing their star linebacker. This is clearly the #2 defense in the North Division. Illinois does have a decent cb tandem but they will not garner a decent pass rush against this experienced Missouri offensive line. Blane Gibbert(possibly the best QB in the conference) will have time to pick apart this Illinois defense. Illinois is rebuilding on the offensive side and they lost their most effective runner and passer in juice williams. Illinois may keep it close early but the deep experience and more talented defense and offense of Missouri at home will carry this team to an easy victory. Missouri has covered the spread against Illinois five straight times the last 8 years and I think they will make it six times easy.
Purdue 10.5 1u
Notre Dame has to break in a new system with a new quarterback and only two returning offensive lineman. You get a new qb, new offense, new coach, inexperienced front line, that spells disaster. Coach Kelly isn't a defensive mind and that should work into Purdue's favor considering Notre Dame had an average defense last year and they will this year as well. Purdue behind big time qb Robert Marve and his line which he refuses interviews without them which means the lineman love there qb and they will work hard to protect him. If that happens which I expect with ND's mediocore defense, Marve with pick that defense apart with three senoirs Kyle Adams, Cortez Smith, and big time receiver
Smith. Purdue's defense is returning all three linebackers and a decent line behind 1st team all big 10 performer Ryan Kerrigan. We aren't asking much of this Purdue. We are asking them not to lose by two touchdowns to an average team. They will do better and may even pull the upset.
