    Home Field Advantage
What does everyone assign as HFA in college football? Do you vary it by venue? Do you adjust for higher or lower totals? Just curious to see how others treat this.

I vary by venue. I also think that small venues like sun belt and mac play better at home if it is televised nationally, because they are never in the spot light. I don't bet that many totals but i don't think it makes that much of a difference. I don't think bad teams really benefit from home field either, no fans no support. just some things i consider when it comes to evaluating home field advantage.

It does vary, but I generally use 3.5 for college, and 2.5 for NFL, except 3.0 on MNF

It does vary, but not by as much as people think. In college ball, I will give a team from 1 to 4 points, but 4 points is a rarity. 3 is the norm in stadiums that hold over 50,000. 2 is the norm for stadiums under 50,000.

Another thing to consider, especially later on in the season, is a teams record. A team that is 2-8 does not have much of a home field advantage compared to a team that is 8-2.

I vary it depending on the venue. I'll use Vanderbilt as an example. .. most SEC weekends, the road team is going to have more fans at Vandy than the home team. There's no way I would ever give them a set advantage.

Got to look at what the stadium the visiting team is used to playing in, I think Michigan has a big advantage in the first game against UConn, Uconn plays at a stadium that holds 40K, Michigan Stadium holds 110. I'm thinking Uconn will come in shock.

Uconn has played in some big venues, including notre dame... and they won, they arent coming from no where lol they are well coached and 110 k sitting on their hands to see what is next in their turmoiltious program will not be too rowdy.

Personally I go by records in the last three years. I rarely bet an away road team in a night game especially in the SEC.

But I give anywhere from 1-5 pts I think it is all circumstantial, obv take Va tech a game vs ecu at noon is going to be severly less loud, and boosting than a thursday night game vs clemson.

I think Noon crowds are the worst homefield advantage, I also go by how much boo's is consumed in a time period lol, I go to OSU and have been going to games my whole life.. the later the start, the louder it is, last yrs SC game was the loudest I have ever heard it and the my whole section was cocked... That may be so hypothetical but its only a point or two, so it doesnt matter much at all

                    Just my theory.

Fresno State -1 on week one at home against Cincy. That is the lock of the year!

If you guys are applying 3.5 or 4 points for home fields like Hawaii, boise state or florida then you are making a bad error. No way to sugar coat it.

Definitely varies by venue. In college, you also should factor in the age of the roster...especially the QB

young QB on the road in the SEC is a deathbed

I do not adjust anything to it. Most of my plays are road teams you just need to find the correct wagering angle and to be honest it does not matter where you play.

One of the best trends that you will ever find is: Home SEC dogs. If a home team is ever a 'dog' in an SEC game. Take them. I don't care if it is Vanderbilt vs. Florida. Take the points. Look this one up. This trend hits at a really nice clip over the years.
