Hawai'i is pretty bad fellas. Most of the June Jones players are gone, and McMackin can't recruit. The majority of the top talent in Hawai'i and Samoa goes mainland these days, to where at least June would retain a decent chunk of it. UH put up good offensive #s last year, but only 4 returning starters on offense (1 on O-line), and a D that can't stop bigger teams that can push them around. Plenty of time for USC to get there and get acclimated, and the crowd still doesn't measure up to what USC deals with every other week. Sure both teams may be trying "really really hard", but you can throw that angle out AFAIC. UH wants to impress in the opener, but USC is gonna have a massive chip on their shoulders all year similar to what Auburn had years ago, and they're gonna run it up when they can.

I see USC dealing with a short field most of the time and running away with this one. Got two units on it already.

i live in Hawaii. I'm an expert on the warriors. ask me anything about them. as of now I'd say give the points but I don't bet against my team. we don't even have a starting QB yet. to make things worse it's still a 4 man race. idiot coaches couldn't even narrow it down to 2 in the spring

Will the defense be better this year? How strong is the defensive line? I think Kiffin will run, run, run. Can Hawaii stop the run??

How is Moniz not the starter. Is he hurt? I may just double up.

I look at it this way. Every regular season game for USC is a bowl game. I'd be pissed if I was a player in those circumstances. This view may change but as of now I see a strong beginning to this season. There is some motivation for this coaching staff to bust a nut on a weaker sister if the situation presents itself. Lay the points.

hawaii gave up 202 yds/game on the ground with a 4.9 yrd/run average. so...no. this year hawaii has more experience defensively as last year they only had 1 returning starter. however hawaii year in and year out cannot stop teams that run the ball right at them. if USCs O line comes out of camp healthy, Allen bradford and co. will put up big numbers.

after last season mcmuffin opened the QB position up for grabs. most likely moniz will win the starting spot but he missed the entire spring due to "personal reasons". basically what I heard is that he cheated with one of the other players wife and lost the trust of the entire team. as for the defense. new D coordinator (supposedly a genius, but they say that about everyone don't they?), we have no DEs, no LBs, our secondary will be decent in terms of WAC level competition.

on offense, we have no oline, average QB, VERY GOOD wrs, RB who cares we don't run.

Hmmm, I'm going to probably have to go with USC then. Good stuff.

just FYI our new DC Dave aranda was responsible for putting together the defensive gameplan against navy last year. to our knowledge that was the only game he got to coordinate. because of that game he got promoted to DC. the jury is out on him

yes hawaii did win against navy. however navy had a very undersized offensive line but still was able to put up 336 yds on a 5.2 average. how navy got close with Ohio st. is beyond me. it seems hawaii was able to do fairly well against "running" teams that don't run the ball right at them (eg. Nevada and navy). the teams that are able to run the ball right at them (traditional power running game), hawaii could not stand a chance. your examples are La Tech, Fresno st., and wisconsin. USC's offense will be MUCH improved last year with Matt Barkley being a year older and having MUCH more weapons to throw to. also, USC's defensive front 7 will be extraordinarly good and they will own hawaii's O line. word from camp is they're getting the best of USC's O line!

While USC is going to be a good all-around team, they are not going to be quite the explosive offense many predict. They still need a receiver that can stretch the field for them.
