Before this line came out Sunday night,I figured MD would be - 1.5/-2...when I saw the 7.5/8,I said crap,the word is out about this team ! NFW they haven't done dick yet. Then I realized just how bad this Illini D is. Then was going to bet MD -8...but went on the Over. MD has never been favored on the road in the Big10 !!..so laying -7.5 on road in a Friday night game were anything can happen,made me go to the Over....but still think MD will roll.
Coach Locksley has done a great job recruiting, the talent in the DMV area is staying home and has a strong pipeline to SEC territory. Currently 17 th in country in recruiting.They were able to get ( out of SEC terr.) the #1 linebacker in nation,this guy turned down Bama to come to MD!! There has been a parallel shift upward in the talent level,today's 2nd string would have all started 3 years ago.This program is getting the same talent as Oregon/Ohio St...but not at that level.
This is a quick strike offence that gets many big plays...QB is very good and has major speed at wide out and quickness at RB along with good O line. They run the Pistol formation a lot and get big plays out of it. But how good are they ? Last season 2-3...but put up 45 vs a good(at the time) Minn D and beat Penn St( who owns MD, 40-3 in series) at happy valley 36-19 !!! Everyone is buying in...these guys are holding players only meetings !!.............this team has immense upside.................................. ...MD/ILLINOIS OVER 61...2.5 units................................... .........gl
