Houston-5(3units) PLENTY Of VERY Obvious reasons for Many to take Air Force today…The numbers look like a AF su win today and A LOT on the Many Forums in internet land are licking their chops..I Myself look at these Bowls with a skeptical eye…When they look that easy using the numbers and stats, and when all over in the many football forums on the net folks are making a Quick,Cant lose Jump On the AF Today I have to thorw out my red flag for another look as It usually is not that Easy, esp in Bowls… Air F. ranks 1st in pass defense giving up only 148.7 yards , However BYU ended up throwing for 377 yards and 5 TDs in a 38-21 victory over the Falcons In Air Forces last game,( defense gave up 498 yds & 38 points to byu )Story I think behind AF great looking defensive number are they didn’t play a lot of good passing teams…UNLV had less than 150 passing yards, Army, Colorado State and Navy do not pass (Navy 36 yards passing, Army 44 yards passing, Colorado State 90 yards passing) Air Force has not played a passing team better then 49th this year except BYU which shredded them…"We'll see who's best," UH receiver Tyron Carrier said. "Not every game to you get to play against the best."
…Another Pro AF Stat...Air Force should be able to run the ball on Houston, as the Cougars rank 112th out of 120.…if Air Force can move the chains methodically and shorten the game, its defense will have to spend less time on the field….That sounds awfully good BUT Air Force is 0-6 all time at Amon G. Carter Stadium..Last Year AF lost to Houston in this same Bowl 34-28 and couldn‘t win with that same game plan...The Falcons have lost three straight bowl games and six of their past eight Bowls,The Air Force appears to me that preparations for Bowls is not too good historically.. remember, They got all them push ups to do everyday…
Conclusion: Maybe everyone is right…Air Force will shut down that AWESOME Houston passing game, control the clock with the running game against that “AWFUL” Houston defense and provide the many that su AF win…Then again, If one team has the potential to blow the other completely out for a easy win….that would be Houston…I Think a lot of AF Betters are going to be shocked at that Number One passing defense banner AF proudly talks about…(Houston heard about it too) Houston, They have the Better, and faster Athletes….Houston has had a lot of time to prepare for the triple option…UH linebacker Marcus McGraw has been a man on a mission. With 133 tackles this season, McGraw ranks 14th in the nation…see, Houston does have a defense star!
I don’t think this game will be a blow out, but I think Houston will cover that 5!
