Season's Greetings. The Unkmown Capper has taken a bit of a hiatus from SBR, but is back for the college bowl season. See, unlike most of you douchebags on here, I actually have a full-time career with employees and customers who are depending on me, plus my cat has been more needy as of late, and I had to spend more time playing with him and the laser pointer. The Bowl Season is make it or break it time. And if you're like me and have done a lot of 'breakin' it' all season, this is our last chance to 'make it'
Anywho, in order to compete with Justin7 and his PickMaster 5000 that accompanies him on those fascinating waste-of-time SBR videos, I have built my own computer to help me predict games. It is called Sweetpete's SuperPick 7500. Thats right, Justin7, it's 2500 better than yours. Anywho, you can see an exclusive photo of my secret machine at the bottom of this post.
So, here's the deal. I'm going to make one prediction for every bowl game. It could be a side, a total, a ML, adjusted spread or whatever other bull$hit bet they can come up with. I WILL redeem myself this bowl season and i WILL make money. Guaranteed, or I'll give you my Sweetpete's SuperPick 7500. Here we go...
NEW MEXICO BOWL
FRESNO ST. -10.5 vs. Wyoming (+100) 2.5 Units
I am a fan of bowl games, for no other reason than its more football to bet on. But, lets face it. When a team like Wyoming makes a bowl game, the whole bowl concept needs to be re-evaluated. Wyoming played 5 bowl teams this season. They went 0-5, and were outscored 170-30. Coach Christensen is getting props for turning this team around, but when you beat 6 teams that just happen to be more awful than yourself, that doesn't constitute a turn around season in my book. Not many people know what an awful OC he was at Mizzou. He had the most talented QB Mizzou ever had, Brad Smith, and basically ran about 2 or 3 different plays with him for the 4 years he started. The only important statistic that Wyoming finished in the upper half in the Moun. West Conf. was turnover margin, and that only helps so much when you can't stop the run, and you're facing a dominant rushing offense in Fresno St.
Pat Hill's 'Anyone, anytime, anywhere' mantra holds true with one exception...The New Mexico Bowl. They were forced to play in this God-forsaken bowl last year, and lost to Colo. St., and I find it hard to believe they're excited to make the trip this year. But luckily for Fresno, it will only take one person to beat Wyoming... Ryan Mathews. The SuperPick 7500 is calling for Mathews to rush for 1315 yards (the machine still needs a little tweeking) so it really doesn't matter if anyone else shows up.
Pat Hill has too much pride to take this game lightly, so he'll do his best to fire his team (Mathews) up. Wyoming is probably excited to be in a bowl game since its their first since womens' suffrage (1987). But, there is no legitimate reason to think Wyoming can compete with one of the nation's top rushers, whereas their own offense was fairly inept most of the year. FRESNO ST. 45-14
ST. PETERSBURG BOWL
C. FLORIDA +3 vs. Rutgers (-120) 1 Unit
Rumor has it many citizens from the western Russian city were pissed off when they found out this game was actually to be played in Florida, instead of their own Gorky Park Stadium. Anywho, hhis game features two 8-4 teams that nobody cares about. The whole Rutgers 'Cinderella' charm wore off a while ago, and most Floridians don't even know where UCF even is. Rutgers is a young team that has inflated their record by beating such powerhouses as Howard, Florida Int'l, and Texas Southern. Their only other dome appearance was an embarrassing loss at Syracuse. They've had an inconsistent offense this year and have allowed around 3.5 sacks/game
UCF has a semi-home advantage, and has won 3 straight coming into this game. Their defense is much improved this year, and should be able to rattle Rutgers true frosh QB. I love getting the +3 here for only -120, because after all, I'm a sucker and buy points.
This should be a low scoring game and even though I don't know a whole lot about either team, Young RU Offense + Dome + Good UCF Defense + Semi- Home adv. for UCF equals UCF +3. C. FLORIDA 20-14
