This is the last week of college football before the bowls and I'm looking to make it a good one. After going 0-2 with small plays on Oregon and CMichigan the last 2 nights, I'm looking to make this weekend more like the last where I went 9-2 in posted plays hitting all 3 major bets.
I'm not gonna do long, elaborate write ups for all of 'em but here they are:
Rutgers -2
West Virginia is coming off an emotional upset win at home vs Pitt. Now they go on the road to face a team they have never lost too. I like this spot for Rutgers. Rutgers has been solid this year and they bring the better defense to this match up. WV is 1-3 on the road this year but the difference in this game will be Bill Stewart's inability to consistently get his team mentally prepared as I don't think they will be for this game. Look for Rutgers to play very sharp and Wv to make alot of mistakes. I believe Rutgers will get the WV monkey off of their backs.
Pitt +3 (buy 1/2) or ML
Pitt is coming off a disappointing loss to WV but I think alot of that was them looking forward to this game vs Cincy. Cincy is the 'sexy' team here but Pitt will be playing at home where they haven't lost with the better defense as well as the better running game. Add to this, the distracting rumors of Brian Kelly to Notre Dame and we have the makings of an upset here.
Clemson +1 or ML
This may be my favorite play of the day. Looking back at their last matchup, the score doesn't tell the tale. GT jumped out 24-0 mainly due to the lack of focus and preparation by Clemson. GT scored on an 82 yd run, 85 yd punt return, and a fake FG. After that, Clemson outgained them 319-91 in total yards with a QB making only his 2nd start. GT barely hung on. It will be a totally different game this time mainly due to Defensive Coordinator Kevin Steele. Steele was hired away from Alabama and before that was at Florida St under Bowden and has worked for Osbourne at Nebraska and Majors at TN. This guy is a top defensive mind. It's hard for a team to simulate the precision and quickness of Tech's Midline triple op. in practice but I expect the second time around Clemson players will be more focused and prepared. Tech's QB Nesbitt is banged up as well. Look for a huge day by the CLemson D. making stops and forcing turnovers. Clemson also has maybe the most explosive 1-2 punch in the country with Spiller and Ford. Expect Spiller to be huge in the return game as well. This time I think Clemson jumps out early forcing GT to have to throw more. This will not be good for Tech. This has the potential for a blowout. Also of note, Tech oped -1 & alot of square books have Tech still at -1 but sharp books have Clemson -1.
other games:
Washington +7
FL International -1.5
leans/small plays: AZ, E.Carolina, Nebraska
May post more later....
