SEC Picks 11/7/09

Interesting week in the SEC this week. I can't remember a 35 point spread between 2 SEC teams. Yes, Vandy is still in the SEC. I'm going to post a little different this week. Here goes.

Alabama -7.5 over LSU

This game is for a spot opposite Florida in the SEC title game. Talent vs. talent, this matchup appears to be fairly even. Both offenses have struggled this year and both D's are really good. I give the edge to bama because of coaching. Bama had their wake up call vs UT and will be rested and ready for this one. The last 2 years Bama has put up 70 points versus a Chavis coached D. Those defenses were pretty darn good. Saban vs Miles, no contest.
Prediction Alabama 27 LSU 10.

Vanderbilt +35 over Florida

35 points, are you kidding me?Only 1 time in the last 15 years have the Gators beaten Vandy by more than 35 points. In the last 7, Vandy is 5-2 ATS vs the gators. Vandys freshman running back is in line for SEC frosh of the year and has 3 KO returns for td's this year. The 'dores were embarassed last week in the 2nd half vs GT and will bring their best effort saturday Will it be enough, no.There is a lot of coach's in this league thar UM would love to humiliate(LK,NS,MR), Bobby Johnson is not one of them.
Prediction Florida 38 Vandy 17

Tennessee -26 over Memphis

I can't believe I'm going to take UT as a huge favorite. But this seems to be a different UT team. I'm not sure the Tigers will be able to score against the Vol D. Hardesty is a beast and should have a big day. LK will be looking to roll up the tigers coaching his 1st homecoming. There is no love lost between these two schools. They have/had an intense basketball Rivalry and the fans just don't like each other. The Vol players will be ready.

S. Carolina +7 over Arkansas

Had a hard time pulling the trigger on this one. This is a gut feeling bet. Garcia has had a pretty decent year and if SC don't turn the ball over early and often last week, we have a low scoring nclose game. The Ark defense is nothing like the one he saw last week and SC will score points.
