Iowa vs Iowa St

I'd be careful on the ISU love fellas. This is their 2nd coach in as many years. The spread has been shown to kill Iowa, but forecast now shows rain all day Saturday. If this turns into a trench battle, Iowa is going to win this one. Their line struggled against UNI but they had guys mixed everywhere, such as right guard Dace Richardson playing left tackle, etc. With Kyle Calloway back from suspension to secure left tackle, Dace is back at right guard. The center position is still suspect, but lining up across is Nate Frere who is 6'1 291 if I recall correctly. Linemen that are quick and athletic will give Iowa more trouble, not the bigger ones. Especially if this turns into a trench war.

Paki O'Meara is sitting on the sidelines, who was 7 carries for 16 yards. Adam Robinson is starting who averaged over 4 YPC. Iowa is better in every aspect of the game this year and ISU shows clear signs of struggling not only on offense but with defensive tackling.

I'm not saying taking ISU is bad. I am saying that I'll be on the other side and it's not the homer glasses. I hate this game with a passion, but I think the week 1 scare, bringing back Calloway and throwing the pineapple O'Meara to the sideline are going to be bigger improvements for Iowa than most realize. Especially if it is in fact raining.

You know Ferentz, doesn't say much. He did say that neither Brinson nor Wegher had even been in the plans against UNI. That's not saying much except that we weren't going to see either one regardless.

I will say that I think Robinson is serviceable. He's not Shonn Greene or maybe Jewel Hampton by any means, but he made a very big improvement in the second half. I think it comes with being a redshirt freshman. He was very tentative in the first half and appeared more aggressive in the second.

And I correct myself. Paki O'Meara had 1.8 YPC, not 2.1 *grumble*

If I had to give my honest opinion, I wouldn't be surprised to see Brinson or Wegher get a carry or two for evaluation purposes and maybe a breather. I doubt they'll get much more than one or two carries at RB if either one actually does get in, however.

If Wegher is healthy there is no reason he should not be returning kickoffs AND punts..........having Spivey do this scares the living daylights out of me because Iowa cannot afford to lose him to injury. Plus, if healthy, gotta believe Wegher is better suited to return kicks.

I agree. Spievey returning punts is nerve wrecking. Problem is, as per the depth chart going into this weekend, O'Meara is the #1 under KRs. Ferentz loves using the #2 back as the #1 returner. In O'Meara's situation .. no idea why.

I like Iowa to cover in this game. I'm laying this one off after seeing too many of you taking Iowa St. My math model picks Iowa to win by 1 to 2 touchdowns. I'm interested to see who is right.

Last 5 year scores in this game are 17-5, 13-15, 17-27, 23-3, and 17-10. Iowa has gone under the total 11 of it's last 12 non conference games. A good chance of rain Saturday. Under 45.5 for me. Go Hawks!

Geezus, there are reports that he either has a thyroid and/or heart disorder and was in the hospital for a day this week.

Reading on HAWK CENTRAL very conflicting reports............one has him in the lineup this week, another has him returning next week, and yet another stating that this is career ending.

Terrible, terrible, news..................

This game was an UNDER anyway when they had rain forecasted. Now of course, it's "partly cloudy" -- who the h3ll knows. I still lean to the under.

For Bryan's sake, hope he's okay.

My best bet is that he'll be back this season, maybe next week. But this season at least. From what I understand is that it's serious enough to not go this weekend, but not serious enough to end the career.
