Two squads known more for their hoops play meet this Saturday when Connecticut travels to Indiana. Play the Huskies over the Hoosiers.
Indiana opened the season with a nice 39-20 win over Western Michigan, but it has been downhill since then.
On the field, the Hoosiers followed that effort with a narrow 24-23 escape at Ball State, and they then lost at home last week 35-28 to Division I-AA Southern Illinois! Off the field, the team has to deal with the fact that head coach Terry Hoeppner underwent brain surgery last week. Sure they may have been at an emotional disadvantage in that shocking loss, but they were also without leading wide receiver James Hardy who is also out this week as he finishes serving a two-game suspension.
Connecticut lost at home to Wake Forest last week to fall to 1-1 on the year, but the Huskies outgained the Demon Deacons 324 yards to 209 in that contest. However, a key interception and a couple of botched kicks did them in.
As long as UConn can keep those mistakes to a minimum here, we look for the Huskies to come away with the road victory vs. this weaker opponent.
