Texas Tech is making their own defence work to much. That 3rd down play where they slipped the back out and ran for a big gain was all TT cornerback. He wasn't responding to the obvious, and he was extremely small playing down the line.
That play should have been stopped way short and no TD for ole miss.
The reason I think this is happening for TT is because they are wanting their secondary to play this poor. That's right!!! why? simple.
Because they are acting their LB's as rotating DL on wide splits. This way Ole Miss is force to break tackles, and not allowing them to beat the secondary for large gains all at once.
I think Texas Tech will respond to this by taking more control of the clock and resting the DL. I don't see them rotating, but I see them controlling the DL more wanting to stack the box with 3-3 BOX, or 4-3 under package with that top inside dime back.
Texas Tech large lead for some reason got them off their gameplan, and I don't see how Mike Leach will allow it to happen in the 2nd half. Ole Miss is having a hard time at the line, and that's why they are forcing Texas Tech to go 5 steps back, and having their playside G flex to the T and shift in the shotgun. I don't know why Texas Tech hasn't run more shuffle, or draw plays, but maybe they are saving it for the 2nd half.
Either way it's going to be a fun 2nd half. I do tihnk Texas Tech will pull it out, but if they don't punch Ole Miss in the mouth when they get up a score again, then Ole Miss will just try to get lucky and get the lead once again.
